Apr 26, 2014Although non-Blu Ray discs play fine on my HP Pavilion laptop with Windows 7, Blu Ray discs will not. How does a computer dummy make this work?

Jul 25, 2014Had to format my hard disc and reinstall Windows XP, then upgraded to Win 7. Windows has generic VGA driver that's OK, but it can't run any copmplex videos that it used to be able to run. I know it's 5 years old, but everytime I download stuff for the "specs" listed on website, I can't get anywhere. I'm sure there have been more than one video card integrated into the board, but I don't know where else to turn!

Nov 1, 2014I've just bought a HP Pavillion laptop, it runs on Windows 8.1, but am unable to play any form of disc in the optical drawer. They whizz around, but i get nothing on the screen, so am unable to play dvd's/cd's or even load a disc for my printer. I've gone in to Device Manager, and selected cd/dvd, and have an error message saying 'Windows cannot start this hardware driver because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged (code 19).

Jan 24, 2010I have a refurbished aspire 6930G, fairly new, and for some reason it will not play my GTA IV disc. The drive just makes a whirring noise as it tries to autoplay and nothing happens. I've tried the disc in other machines and it works fine, and my computer has no trouble playing other CDs, DVDs etc. It's just that particular one. Does anybody have any idea why that might be, and what I could do to fix it?
I'm running vista home premium and I have service pack 2.

Everything appears to be working fine in my win 7 installation with the exception of the video. If I install any video driver then the LCD display dim's down to <50% of its normal brightness compared to just vanilla VGA drivers. External monitor works fine.
I initially went with the official NVIDIA 186.03 driver, and this exhibited the dimming effect. I have since tried all manner of other video driver versions including laptop2go, etc and none of them work. Even had my first win7 BSOD when I installed Dell's latest Vista x64 driver .....

May 22, 2014DVDs will load successfully and play, but BlueRays will not, even though this computer has a BlueRay player and the Cyberlink software to play them. It recognizes the BlueRay title, appears to load the disk and then returns to the initial screen and does nothing. When I click play, Cyberlink asks if I want to restart or resume playing. Either button I select returns me to the beginning of the process.

This hapens with the vast majority of my videos i have seen that other people have had the same issure and i have installed the VLC video app as suggested and still nothing works.
