Apr 21, 2014Have a problem with an integrated webcam on my dv6-7263er HP ENVY . YouCam drivers are up to date and reinstalled twice.

Acer :: 8920G- I Changed The Picture Quality To 3D (from Quality To Performance) ..
Mar 3, 2009I have got some problems with my notebook.
1) I changed the picture quality to 3D (from quality to performance) after that i am not able to open my nvidia control panal.
I also updated my drivers .. didnt work
2) I am not able to play any games (big once like NFS pro) . It works very slow
3) If i put a memory card in my card reader i get a blue screen.
4) If i on my blue tooth it asks for installing drivers (every thing i have to search and intall it again and again).

HP Envy Dv6t-7300 Display :: Webcam Is Not Working
Oct 7, 2014I've had my laptop for about one and half years now, and so far the webcam has been working fine. Today though, it stopped functioning. At first I thought it was the microphone and webcam, but I tested the microphone and that's working. The only thing not working is the webcam.
I tried restarting. I tried looking up the driver and making sure it was all set. At that point, I realized I didn't even have a webcam installed (which is what my programs were telling me but I didn't believe).
I then searched on this forum to find a solution and another member posted that removing the bevel and sticking the little plug back in should work. I tried it and it didn't. (I'm also concerned that I did this with my computer on... Have I done any serious damage?)

Mar 25, 2013My laptop is brand new. I remember the first time I started it I clicked on CyberLink YouCam and the camera worked. I even took a picture with it.Since then I am trying to activate the webcam and it is not working. I wanted to Videochat on Skype but the webcam was not activated so there was no webcam option. I read that if you go on Facebook and click on "Change Profile Picture" and then "Take Picture" it activates the webcam, but not in my case.
When I start CyberLink YouCam it says that there was no webcam found and if I have to activate it if I have one. So here is my question: How do I activate the webcam? How that works. What button combination I have to press or whatever.I have the HP Envy dv7-7202eg with Windows 8.

Apr 16, 2014My webcam stopped working all of a sudden. I have HP ENVY dv6-7258nr Notebook PC with Windows 8. The camera app says "Connect a camera." and the device manager does not show "Imaging Devices". Instead there is "Other Devices" which has a subcategory of "Unknown Devices" with a yellow mark.
I have updated, reinstalled cyberlink youcam drivers, tried system restore (which does not complete saying i have an anti virus open when i don't have any antivirus on my notebook) but nothing works. Scanning for hardware does not bring up any thing. I have also followed the instructions given on hp site and opened the youcam software but it does not detect the camera.

Feb 27, 2015I recently bought an acer v3 371 and was looking forward to using the webcam. For the first few days it was fine quality but then suddenly, possibly after an update of some sort, the quality went down and now it looks really terrible. I tried many things such as refreshing the computer back to default settings, installing various camera programs (I was using the standard camera that came with windows 8.1) such as Acer Crystal Eye but changing the resolution in these makes no difference at all to the terrible quality.
I look in device manager and it just seems to be a generic device 'HD Webcam' and the driver is from 2006, this seems to be the default one that windows selects but there must be a better one, I can't find it anywhere though. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the device several times but again no effect. I don't know exactly what the webcam is, because if you go to Acer's actual website to look for driver updates they list all of them EXCEPT the webcam drivers.

Jun 23, 2014My current problem is that when switching from the mobile power-saving GPU I lose the backlight on my screen when the high performance GPU kicks in. The HDMI output is displaying video when in High Performance, but the screen of the laptop will only show a picture with no backlight, and can only be seen by shining a light on the screen.
Just started happening the last few days, I've tried a system restore (didn't allow it), tried uninstalling all of the AMD drivers and software then reinstalling with their updated drivers, as well as the same process but with the HP drivers that came with the laptop, still the same result.Is it possible for the high performance GPU to be failing some how or is this a software issue?

Mar 29, 2010I received my HP Envy 15 today (I was excited). As I proceeded to open the contents of the box I was impressed with the presentation and packaging of the system. After I got the laptop completely out of the soft-cloth cover case, I sat it down and began to inspect around the system. Looking around the laptop, before opening the screen lid, I start to notice black marks, scratches, and smudges on the case.
Some of these were production dust but some were actually scratches. Next, I open the lid to inspect the screen and noticed more smudges and a few hair-liner scratches on the lower part of the screen. At this point I am like ?!?! Upon further inspection of the screen, I noticed that the rubber screen spacers were peeling off. How did these issues pass the final Q&A check? Lastly, the bottom part of the plastic shell covering the screen was warped, as it was rubber-banding out instead of sitting flush against the screen.
I am disgusted, to say the least, to receive a $2000+ laptop in this condition . Since this is HP's high-end model I expected near perfection. So, after trying the Dell XPS 16 and now the HP Envy, I have to say that I am not impressed with the build quality of either system. I guess Apple or another PC brand will get my money. So long to Dell and HP!

May 27, 2010Been looking for some pictures comparing the different display panels HP offers with the Envy 15, but I haven't found much.
So I'll just ask those who own it; is there a quality difference in the 720P and 1080P display panels?
For gaming, lower native resolution would be optimal (performance/quality), but if the low-res panels are crap I'd get a full HD display, turn the resolution down and suffer some downscaling side-effects rather than playing with a crap native resolution..

Feb 11, 2009However measurements conducted using a professional grade meter severe issues:Yes the colors do pop but green is widly oversaturatedMost colors have incorrect hueYes maximum luminance is very high but black levels are very poor, so the contrast remains below 580:1Color temperature is too high (greyscale suffers from a greenish tint)
Those issues cannot be solved:Calibrating the greyscale to a different color temperature (65K standard) reduces the contrast significantly. Adding some red will fix color temperature but also increase black luminance and hence reduce the contrast.The color saturation and color hue controls do not alter the green color in any significant way.
While the display may be ok for gamers who like nuclearly inaccurate colors, the display is very poor for what it is supposed to do: displaying Bluray films and other video content (after all this is a 16/9 HD media laptop)The poor black levels mean the picture looks flat and 2 dimensionalThe color inaccuracies lead to radiating grass and foliage as well as incorrect skin tones.
I am including the details of my measurements below, as well as examples of ow the color settings of the ATI Catalyst Control panel affect the readings.

White Point (maximal luminance): 270cd/m
Contrast: 560:1
Unfortunately, this is merely average, as most competing non LED panels have contrasts of 600:1 or higher. Also any good screen should have black levels below 0,3cd/m .....

I have Y510P (i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz, Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600
& NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M, Win 8.1 64-bit(6.3 build 9600), all with latest drivers )
My TV is Panasonic TH-L32B6. When I connect my laptop to TV it shows me awful picture quality and notification that “this is not optimal screen resolution for the primary display. The optimal res. Is 1280x720”. But with 1280x720 it’s still awful. It works fine just with 1024x768 res. I have no such a problem with my other TV LG 47LS570Y. How can i fix picture quality with higher resolution? I tried another OS like Ubuntu and a couple of hdmi cables…(see attachment)

HP Envy 15 Display :: Touch Screen Clicks On Wrong Display
Jun 15, 2014Today, I tried connecting an external display to my HP ENVY TouchSmart 15 laptop, via a USB hub, only to discover that using the touch screen points at the corresponding part of the external display rather than the inbuilt one (the displays are being extended). Can this be changed?
I'm using the same 64-bit Windows 8 installation and drivers that the computer came with.
HP Envy 14 Display :: Screen Flickers On Startup And Display Going Black
Nov 3, 2014Currently whenever I startup my laptop the display flickers. If windows fully boots or I try to enter one of the startup menus the will flash briefly on the screen and then the display will return to and remain black.
I am able to run an HDMI cable to my TV and it seems to be running fine other than going black with the occasional distorted picture of windows booting.

Cliffnotes: Fluorescent light produces nice images, incandescent and sunlight produce blue-shifted images.
This might have to do with the camera detecting more into the IR spectrum than a normal camera. We know this because it uses IR LEDs for low-light "night vision." Direct sunlight and incandescent put out a lot of IR light and the camera probably interprets infrared light as bluish. Fluorescent lights produce much less IR light than incandescent and sunlight, so that's probably the issue.

I'm about 90% sure this is the problem. If you have an Envy15 and don't mind spending a few bucks to test this, try purchase an infrared cut-off filter and put it over your web cam.

Nov 8, 2009I have not used my webcam for a while, but recently updated Skype. When I went to use the web cam it was not detected. When I try Cyberlink Ucam it says no webcam detected. I checked the driver in Device Manager and it is ok. I used HP Recovery Manager and reinstalled the Cyberlink software but it is still undetected. Is there some keyboard switch for the camera or something simple that I am missing??

May 6, 2011Just purchased my new Pavilion dv7, and when I run the You Cam software, it tells me my HP TrueVision HD webcam is not detected. I have tried at this for several days now, at one point when I was trying to fiddle with the You Cam settings, the webcam light turned on for aprox. 2 seconds and then went dead again, since then it won't even let me into the YouCam settings.
Right now I'm becoming more and more convinced that this is due to my laptop being assembled outside the US. Need a fix for this immediately.
