Acer Aspire Nitro V15 :: Wireless Network Card Is Really Slow And Unstable?
Dec 12, 2014Recently bought a Acer Aspire Nitro v15 with windows 8.1 with a qualcomm atheros ar5bwb222 wireless network card. The connection is really unstable and often disconnects and have very few bars. This is not from the router since the connection on my phone and other computers are fine. The connection (when i have it) is also really slow compared to when i use my phone on the same network. I tried updating the drivers but it says my latest drivers are installed. Could this be a Windows 8.1 problem? this is my first time owning a windows 8.1 computer.

Dec 2, 2014I just got a Aspire 5520 from a friend. Before I restored it to factory i was able to connect to my secure wireless network. Now that i have restored it, I can connect but then the enet mangatment will connect but then disconnect. but the windows icon says its connected. but it will not get past my router or anything and if i try to acess my router from my aspire it will not load the page. my router is fine i have several other devieces connected to it that have no problem. I have checked my router settings to make sure the settings in the comp is right i have a wpa2-personal with a apk securtiy. the router itslef is a belkin n600. since this machine is not under warrenty i cann't ask acer support. Â Also i can connect to any unsecured with no problem

Dec 25, 2014First I need to let you know that my home network consist of a Motorola modem/wireless router from my ISP. I have the wireless turned off, then I use a cat5 ethernet cable to connect a Belkin wireless router so that I can use the two USB ports on the back for a Networked storage device for doing regular backups on all the pc's in the house, and my non-wireless printer, so we can print from anyroom of the house, instead of taking the computer back to where the printer is. So about three days ago I got my Aspire 5734Z-4386 laptop, and I did not have a wireless connection. So I checked my phone, and it still had a connection to the Belkin. I took about ten minutes to troubleshoot the Atheros AR5B93 wireless adapter. Could not understand why I didn't have a connection, it was working great about 12 hours before.Â

So for some reason I used another pc and logged into the Motorola and turned the wireless back on, and immediately the Aspire was showing a connection available, I clicked it and it said "connecting" for a few seconds, and then showed "internet connection". I spent about 5 minutes surfing the internet, and then disconnected from the Motorola and reconnected to the Belkin, it said "connecting" for about a minute, then the yellow triangle came up, no internet. Went back and clikced the Motorola, again internet connection, but not on the Belkin. So I got the other pc and checked the webpage for the Belkin to make sure the Aspire hadn't gotten blacklisted somehow, there's nothing there to explain why I can't connect. So I have spent three days, uninstalling the adapter, and re-installing, I used the Motorola to download the latest driver for the adapter.Â

When the Aspire is on the Belkin network with the rest of the other pc's, I have no problem moving files from and to the Aspire. I can use the Aspire to log in to any of the other pc's and right-click a file and copy to the Aspire, and watch the file show up on the Aspire, or take the Aspire and copy a file over to another pc, or use another pc to access the Aspire. But I can not get an internet connection, unless I'm on the Motorola network. Now I had the wireless on the Motorola turned off so all the connected devices would be on one network so we can share files, and other network connected activities.

Sep 29, 2014I am going to chronicle my experience with this issue. I have an Acer V7-482PG-9884 with an Intel 7260 AC wireless card running Windows 8.1 which was upgraded from Windows 8. Every 20-30 minutes, and sometimes more frequently, the internet connection drops while still connected to Wifi. Upon running the auto fix within internet explorer, Microsoft identifies the issue as a "The Defaul Gateway is Not Available." The internet connection is reset, and everything works fine for another 15-30 minutes whereby the issue repeats.

I've tried everything, switching to a different Intel Card 6205, using each and every driver available from Intel, nothing seems to properly remedy the issue. This includes playing with the power settings, turning off and on bluetooth, etc.

Acer :: Network Card Disappearing
Feb 21, 2008I have an Acer Aspire 4720z that keeps dropping the internet signal. I know it's not my router, because my wife's HP keeps on plugging.
While the connection is working, I show two wireless cards in my device manager:
1. Atheros AR5007EG
2. Broadcom NetLink Gigabit adapter
About once every 30 minutes to one hour, my connection will just die cold turkey, and checking the device manager shows that the Atheros card has just "disappeared".
I tried installing drivers for it again, but it just tells me that no such device exists.
The only thing that works is to reboot completely. Then it works for about another 10-30 minutes and the process starts again.

Acer :: 6920G - Network Card Is An Atheros AR2181
Nov 24, 2008a problem im having with my Acer 6920G, basically the network card is an Atheros AR2181, and ive been having problems with it since day 1.
Basically the drivers it came with (1.0.0.28) would cause my internet connection to "suffer" limited connectivity every 5 minutes or so which would srop download speeds to around 1 kb/s. I thought i should upgrade drivers to the latest which are the 1.0.0.38/9 drivers, i thought i had fixed the problem as for the first 10 minutes or so it was working fine, and then suddenly my pc froze and the screen went funny with lines running across the whole thing, as if it was an overheating issue.
To solve this i bought a USB network card, which works fine but takes up a USB slot and gives me slow download speed of around 20 - 100 kb/s compared to over 10 Mb/s in some cases with the Atheros.

Oct 23, 2008I have recently bought the Acer Aspire 7720g laptop and kinda like the spec. Though I have had 2 major annoying issues with it. The first is that it would never boot at first attempt after an overnight shutdown. This was resolved by installing BIOS version 1.43 after finding a solution on this forum.
The second is one that I can not for the life of me find the reason. The network connections of the laptop will stop working after a few minutes and requires several restarts to make stable. This only seems to happen to the wireless connection. It does not drop signal it just seems to disable.
Yet I have unticked the 'allow Windows to turn of the wireless device to save power' thing. Updated all drivers and BIOS to the most current found version. Also when the wireless network 'turns off' I can not get into network and sharing centre or use the 'Connect To' option, they just both hang.
Even turning the wireless off and back on with the laptop switch makes no difference.

I agree that most phone support is not very good, but I've been helped before by other laptop makers when I had quick, relatively simple questions.
How can Acer not offer phone support and be competitive. People expect phone support for computers.

First of all: Is it generally possible to do this? I tried to install it in the recovery mode but there was an error (something with the GPT Partition) so I switched the Mode to UEFI. I have read in other message boards that I have to switch to UEFI csm (compatibility support mode) but I can't find it.

When I click on the little wrench icon, it also says detected, but then there's a yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it.
I tried the fixes in the troubleshooting netbooks area of this site, but they didn't work. Clicked on the connection logo, it says Windows couldn't automatically detect this network's proxy settings. Under detection details, it gives the file name 1A40D7A3-7CDE-40F4-195E4ADD6327.Diagnose.Admin.0.etl for network diagnostics log; for other networking configuration and logs, it's NetworkConfiguration.cab .Â

Dec 27, 2009I just received a HP DV4T laptop that I purchased direct from HP. When the laptop was ordered one of the upgrades was an "Intel Wireless-N card with Bluetooth" Upon receiving and configuring the laptop I have discovered that what was actually installed was an Intel Wifi 1000 adapter, which only operates in the 2.4ghz frequency range. After getting transferred around HP for a while basically they could not tell me if this was a mistake or just what they offer (their website is very vague on what "wireless-N" adapter you get). They offered to either credit me for the $25 upgrade or I could return the laptop. I elected to get the credit as I am otherwise happy with the laptop.
I can easily replace the wi-fi card; however does anyone on this forum know if the laptop has the proper antenna to make use of a wireless N card that transmits on the 5ghz (and 2.4ghz) bands?
