Acer :: 5738z EPower Button Will Not Work Windows 7 Upgrade
Feb 6, 2010I have a 5738z and upgraded to windows 7. I had to do a clean install as I upgraded to x64 Win7 from x86 vista to use the 4gb of RAM the machine has. The upgrade went fine, no problems. All drivers installed fine and the machine runs great. My problem is that the ePower button will not work no matter what I try (it's the P button on other models) and it wont light up green. I've used the Acer upgrade disk, which installed the launch manager software, but the button still wont work.

My laptop can open drives & folders on my desktop, but my desktop can't open drives or folders on my laptop it says I don't have permission. I fixed this once before but can't remember what I did.
Acer Aspire 5520 :: Not Connecting To Wireless Network
Dec 2, 2014I just got a Aspire 5520 from a friend. Before I restored it to factory i was able to connect to my secure wireless network. Now that i have restored it, I can connect but then the enet mangatment will connect but then disconnect. but the windows icon says its connected. but it will not get past my router or anything and if i try to acess my router from my aspire it will not load the page. my router is fine i have several other devieces connected to it that have no problem. I have checked my router settings to make sure the settings in the comp is right i have a wpa2-personal with a apk securtiy. the router itslef is a belkin n600. since this machine is not under warrenty i cann't ask acer support. Also i can connect to any unsecured with no problem

Oct 7, 2008Is it at all possible to override or bypass the manual wifi button on the top of an Acer Travelmate 240 laptop?
I have an MSI 6833 mini pci wireless card fitted into my laptop which is recognised by windows and showing as working OK.
The problem is that I can't turn the antenna on for the card.
It appears that the wireless button across the top of the keyboard does not recognise the card.
The wifi button flashes on briefly at boot up, but then remains permanently off.
I have looked everywhere for a solution to this but had no joy...including Acer support who were totally useless.
I am running Vista SP1, everything else works great with no problems.
Using a pcmcia wireless card, I can connect without any problems, but it would be easier to use an internal card.

Dec 12, 2014Recently bought a Acer Aspire Nitro v15 with windows 8.1 with a qualcomm atheros ar5bwb222 wireless network card. The connection is really unstable and often disconnects and have very few bars. This is not from the router since the connection on my phone and other computers are fine. The connection (when i have it) is also really slow compared to when i use my phone on the same network. I tried updating the drivers but it says my latest drivers are installed. Could this be a Windows 8.1 problem? this is my first time owning a windows 8.1 computer.

Dec 25, 2014First I need to let you know that my home network consist of a Motorola modem/wireless router from my ISP. I have the wireless turned off, then I use a cat5 ethernet cable to connect a Belkin wireless router so that I can use the two USB ports on the back for a Networked storage device for doing regular backups on all the pc's in the house, and my non-wireless printer, so we can print from anyroom of the house, instead of taking the computer back to where the printer is. So about three days ago I got my Aspire 5734Z-4386 laptop, and I did not have a wireless connection. So I checked my phone, and it still had a connection to the Belkin. I took about ten minutes to troubleshoot the Atheros AR5B93 wireless adapter. Could not understand why I didn't have a connection, it was working great about 12 hours before.
So for some reason I used another pc and logged into the Motorola and turned the wireless back on, and immediately the Aspire was showing a connection available, I clicked it and it said "connecting" for a few seconds, and then showed "internet connection". I spent about 5 minutes surfing the internet, and then disconnected from the Motorola and reconnected to the Belkin, it said "connecting" for about a minute, then the yellow triangle came up, no internet. Went back and clikced the Motorola, again internet connection, but not on the Belkin. So I got the other pc and checked the webpage for the Belkin to make sure the Aspire hadn't gotten blacklisted somehow, there's nothing there to explain why I can't connect. So I have spent three days, uninstalling the adapter, and re-installing, I used the Motorola to download the latest driver for the adapter.
When the Aspire is on the Belkin network with the rest of the other pc's, I have no problem moving files from and to the Aspire. I can use the Aspire to log in to any of the other pc's and right-click a file and copy to the Aspire, and watch the file show up on the Aspire, or take the Aspire and copy a file over to another pc, or use another pc to access the Aspire. But I can not get an internet connection, unless I'm on the Motorola network. Now I had the wireless on the Motorola turned off so all the connected devices would be on one network so we can share files, and other network connected activities.

Sep 23, 2009I recently formatted my Acer Aspire 5935G and downloaded and installed all drivers from the Acer website. I currently am experiencing the following probs:
1. The Acer PowerSmart Button is not working (cannot find drivers / application to make it work)
2. Cannot switch from the onboard video card (Intel) and the "discrete" one which is an ATI Radeon Mobility 4570 HD
- Both video cards are installed

Mar 26, 2009Seeing as I pretty much made up my mind and want to buy a Acer Aspire 8930G, I hope somebody here can give me some specific advice. Maybe someone who owns one of the laptops (I hope there aren't any differences, depending on the country you live in)
I am looking at the Acer Aspire 8930G-644G32MN or the ACER Aspire 8930G-584G32BN. The first one is 300 Euro's cheaper than the last one. Besides that big difference I can't seem to find any. Did I miss some specific diffence, like do they both have Surround Sound and a BluRay drive and a full HD screen? Does any of the two support DVB-T? Do they both have a 9600 GT graphics card?
The reason why I ask is because I looked through, I don't know how many internetsites with specs and it's amazing how they all differ, obviously mainly copied and pasted from other internetsites. And I really want to get the right one and not regret my purchase after a while.

Apple :: MBP - Connecting To My Wireless Network
May 27, 2009I have a USB dongle connected to the USB port on the left side of my MBP. I'm not sure which side the wireless adapter is located in the MBP, but there seems to be interference between the two as I just been having alot of problems connecting to my wireless network. Because of the lack of space on my desk, the left side of the MBP is facing toward a wall (parallel to it), so therefore the Magsafe, USB, and audio ports are facing toward the wall. I have not been able to even detect my wireless network until I decided to remove the USB dongle temporarily and rescan for wireless networks. It finally worked then! So, do you guys think there is a possibility the USB dongle is interfering with the wireless adapter built in MBP? If so, what can I do about it (the right USB port is powering a WD Passport because the left USB does not provide enough power)?

Nov 23, 2008I've just bought a XPS M1530 Laptop (so excited!). But I have some problem connecting to wireless networks.
My roommates can find and connect to our wireless network, while my machine cannot even find one!! It can't even create wireless networks (ad hoc)
I looked up Dell support, it said to uninstall network driver and restart windows (vista HP, SP1). I did that, after reboot, it could find the available network, but after another reboot, it again didn't work.
I'm pretty sure that nothing is wrong with hardware (since it could find once or twice). But I don know what to do.

Mar 26, 2009I've home network with bunch of PCs on it. I've Verizon FIOS and they have provided wireless router. I've installed retail copy of OSX 10.5.6 on one of my system. Everything is working fine including wireless. It can see my existing wireless network. But when I try to connect it only allows me connecting using WEP. After I put in my security key it fails to connect. It does connect to open network in neighbourhood. Is there a way to make this work ? I've 3 other PC and all of them work fine on network. I tried restarting router but it is not making any difference.
I tried connecting using ethernet and it worked fine. I got latest updates from Apple and that worked okay too.

Jul 28, 2014I have had this problem a couple times, and each time I had to restart my entire computer and reinstall everything before I could connect again. The computer has no problem connecting with a cable, but it says it can't find Wi-Fi. I would really love to avoid restarting and restoring the computer for a fifth time if I could.
