Dell :: Studio XPS 1640 DVD Release Button Does Not Work
Aug 22, 2009At least in Windows XP it doesnt.
It works in the BIOS for example.
Any ideas?

Aug 3, 2011I just bought a Dell XPS 15z and the CD eject button doesn't work. (I pressed function key+eject key on the keyboard as instructed in the manual.)
Tried to update my keyboard drivers from the cd provided but there isn't any keyboard drivers in the cd... CD can be ejected by right clicking on the dvd drive and choose "eject".

Dec 14, 2009I'm wondering if there is a way to shut down the Screen monitor on (Dell xps studeio 1640) while it's working downloading?
Usually there is a button on the keyboard for this kind of task, but I haven't been able to find any (Fn+Button) combination on the keyboard for this particular task..
PS. I know that putting the laptop screen all the way down is a way 2 solve this, but im looking for other or -the Button "shutdown" alternative....

I updated my laptop from Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit 2 weeks ago. Since then, I can't use the alt buttons, both on the left and right. Some information on internet said that there might be some dusts under the buttons, and I've tried to clean it, but the problem still occur.

Acer :: 5738z EPower Button Will Not Work Windows 7 Upgrade
Feb 6, 2010I have a 5738z and upgraded to windows 7. I had to do a clean install as I upgraded to x64 Win7 from x86 vista to use the 4gb of RAM the machine has. The upgrade went fine, no problems. All drivers installed fine and the machine runs great. My problem is that the ePower button will not work no matter what I try (it's the P button on other models) and it wont light up green. I've used the Acer upgrade disk, which installed the launch manager software, but the button still wont work.

Apr 3, 2014I migrated win 8.1 to the ssd on my wd black2 (128ssd + 1tb hdd). It also took the first two partitions shown. I then activated the 1tb drive and copied the next two paritions to the SSD in the same sequence and size as original drive.
Then I copied the other remaining paritions to the END of my 1tb hdd. So all partitions are there same sizes same sequences as before execpt for the hdd in the middle. See screenshot.
One key makes a backup to the 1tb hdd which is what I wanted so as to save space on the SSD. But the novo button does not work which makes it useless. How can I fix this?
I know theres lots of threads on this but this is specific to having the partitions split on the ssd and the hdd.
 Drive 0 is the ssd/hdd drive 1 is the original drive ( that okr worked on) its a y510p

Lenovo X Series ThinkPad :: Trackpoint Middle Scrolling Button Doesn't Work For Some Of Newer Applications
Nov 27, 2007The trackpoint middle scrolling button doesn't work for some of the newer applications such as ITunes, the newest versions of Picasa, Windows Live Mail, Safari, and Windows Live Writer.
Below is a fix applicable to all Windows OS's. The location of the edited file may vary so look in the Device Manager under trackpoint driver details to find driver locations.
The file must be edited as an administrator in Vista and Windows 7. To do this, at the programs box type in notepad and on the notpad program in the menu right click and select, "Run as Administrator."
In Win7 x64 it is located at: (edit with Notepad run as Administrator).

1. The Acer PowerSmart Button is not working (cannot find drivers / application to make it work)
2. Cannot switch from the onboard video card (Intel) and the "discrete" one which is an ATI Radeon Mobility 4570 HD
- Both video cards are installed

Jan 15, 2009Suppose I purchase one today at full retail price. Then, in say a week, there's a 20% (or whatever) coupon that comes out, or they go on sale.
Can I call Dell and ask for the difference? I know they have a 21 (or whatever) day return policy, so I would imagine the sale or coupon would have to come within that time frame.
Another question: Does the return policy time begin when I order or when it ships or when I receive it? .

Jan 31, 2010Just had my connection upgraded to 50Mb & when i connect my xps to it wirelessly i can only reach speeds of 20Mb.
I have a usb Wireless N external addaptor which gets me speeds of between 35 and 42Mb but its massive and quite unsightly.
Is it possible for me to install a wireless N adaptor to replace the one in this laptop or would i have to get a smart card slot deal?
