Lovely machine this, but a couple of times now, I've accidentally hit the wireless enable/disable touch button above the keyboard. Does any one know please whether there is a way of disabling this from working in Win 7?
View 6 RepliesEver since I upgraded to Windows 7 and installed the Dell Synaptic Drivers v13.2.2.2, I seem to have gained additional touchpad gestures.
Along with the original chiral-scroll and two-finger zoom I now have:
-two-finger scrolling (vertical and horizontal)
-three-finger forward/back for web browsers and the Windows image viewer
-rotate
-three-finger quick launch (holding three fingers down for 1 second opens notepad)
-momentum (I'm not sure if this one is new)
The touch sensitive eject button on my new Studio 15 laptop appears to be stuck on. When I reboot the laptop, the media control lights flash back and forth as normal. However, the CD drive immediately ejects and the eject button light stays permanently on. This all happens the second the laptop comes on - long before it boots into Vista. This makes me suspect a hardware rather than software issue.

None of the other touch sensitive media controls work.

I've tried cleaning the button, checking for dirt under and on the button and rebooting the laptop. I also rested it overnight.

I have a dell Studio 1558 laptop. I'm extremely careful not to have liquids anywhere near my keyboard. Â However I was drinking tea and felt I was far enough back that liquids should not even reach the laptop. I was probably about a foot back. Well one of my cats nudged my arm and hit it with enough force that a few drops hit the touch pad. Â I cleaned it up. Â This morning I turn my laptop on and now my left touch pad button does not work. I figured that I probably needed to clean it. So I pried the button off gently. Â And used a little rubbing alcohol on a q-tip and cleaned it off. When I pried it up it didn't look really dirty at all. There was no residue on the inside that I could see. Â I put the button back on, and it still doesn't work. Â So now I'm wondering if enough got inside to actually cause damage or if it's just coincidental that the button stopped working at the same time? Â I used it all the time for copying stuff and scrolling. I can use all the other buttons and scroll without using it.
Should the cleaning underneath have cured it if it was the liquid? If the liquid got past the underneath of the key itself then it should have affected the whole key pad not just one key, right?
At least in Windows XP it doesnt.
It works in the BIOS for example.
Any ideas?

but still Win7 recognized most of the devices and I've tried to install the drivers for other OS,
most the installations were incomplete but somehow some of the multi-media buttons worked except for the AV MODE button
Well after i reformat my pc the gray window that shows after you touch one of the five touch sensitive button doesn't show.same goes when you Fn+F5 which supposed to show WLAN and bluetooth card settings. What application or something i have to install for this?

I have a usb Wireless N external addaptor which gets me speeds of between 35 and 42Mb but its massive and quite unsightly.
Is it possible for me to install a wireless N adaptor to replace the one in this laptop or would i have to get a smart card slot deal?
I received my Dell Studio 1737 only a few hours ago and the immediate problem I've found is that Fn+F10 and the eject soft touch button don't eject a CD whilst in Vista. They work fine in the BIOS or Diagnostics Utility but don't work when the machine boots up into Vista.Â
BIOS is showing as A04 and the latest available on the Dell Drivers website is A02
Is it at all possible to override or bypass the manual wifi button on the top of an Acer Travelmate 240 laptop?
I have an MSI 6833 mini pci wireless card fitted into my laptop which is recognised by windows and showing as working OK.
The problem is that I can't turn the antenna on for the card.
It appears that the wireless button across the top of the keyboard does not recognise the card.
The wifi button flashes on briefly at boot up, but then remains permanently off.
I have looked everywhere for a solution to this but had no joy...including Acer support who were totally useless.
I am running Vista SP1, everything else works great with no problems.
Using a pcmcia wireless card, I can connect without any problems, but it would be easier to use an internal card.
I have a problem with my new laptop. The Wireless Button is working good, so I can switch on/off the wifi and bluetooth, but it's LED does not go to orange when I am turn it off. When I power on the laptop the led is orange, but when the Windows starts loading it turn to white.

Here is a screen shot of my adapter and driver version I updated to the latest version and rolled it back and still no luck. I don't want to reseat the adapter until its my last resort.

Ethernet works fine and we are able to get on the internet, but wireless does not work at all. I've been to Lenovo's site and downloaded the drivers from their support site, but nothing weems to work. Is there a special driver I'm missing?

If I connect with the ethernet cable it sometimes turns the wireless button on but does not stay on so I can not take it outside anymore.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got a new Lenovo U430 touch. Major problem: I only get limited wireless. I should note that it hasn't connected wirelessly once. It does connect fine via LAN ( I kept the cables!). I tried calling Lenovo but they said it must be my router and I should contact my internet provider (which I don't understand since the internet provider has nothing to do with the router.)

The laptop does connect wireless for about 5 seconds (I once managed to open an email before the connection slipped). Then it shows the yellow exclamation point in front of the wireless icon on the right-bottom screen. If I troubleshoot, it fixes the default gateway. Repeat. Sometimes it says that the "default gateway is not available."

I updated all drivers and everything else works perfect except for that I cannot connect to any wireless network. No matter how close I am to a network the computer does not recognize it.

Funtion key button are not working like bluetooth, webcam& wireless. whlie newly installing drivers also showing no hardware found
I am having trouble with my wireless button, it remains red/orange despite touching it and restarting my laptop several times. Â My laptop is an HP Pavilion DV7=1135NR, it is originally installed with Windows Vista 64bit. However, i have it reformatted and change the OS to Windows7 Ultimate (32bit). And now i the wireless button wont turn blue. And also the wireless button located in the taskbar is no longer there.

Some additional background: The same problem (wireless wont turn blue) had been recurring before i had it reformatted but then i seek assistance then to HP customer assistant, and installed atheros. the problem had fixed for a while and the same problem would recur. Â However, i can turn it blue once i restart the laptop or when the "WLAN disabled" message would appear in the task bar and i would immediately touch the wireless button.

i tried downloading a driver from HP but still not working. right now i am connected via ethernet cable and its such an incovenience.
I have a Lenovo t420s with dualboot win7 and Ubuntu. I never had any problems until now and could switch on/off my wireless and bluetooth connections via the Hardware Switch (right bottom left of the notebook) or via FN + F5.
However, without any specific reason the wireless and bluetooth was switched off and the the system tells me that I have to switch on WIFI via the Wireless Radio Switch. However, although I can move it, it doesn't make any difference for the Switch.

I tried to reset the BIOS to Default and changed the network settings, and also rebooted several times. I won't work with any of the two systems.
I want to make it so one finger tap would be left click and two finger tap would be right click. Is this possible. If so, how would I go about doing this.
