I want to make it so one finger tap would be left click and two finger tap would be right click. Is this possible. If so, how would I go about doing this.
Is there any chance the xps 1645 will have a multi-touch mouse pad anytime soon? I find that feature in the macs really cool. Since I'm about to buy a 1645, was just wondering if it was worth waiting sometime
Use MultiClutch to assign multi-touch gestures in almost any application in OS X!
Quote:
Basically, Multiclutch allows you to assign custom keyboard shortcuts in a given app to a given gesture. Want swipes to change tabs in Safari? Done. The same in iChat? Done. Want zoom-in to open emails in Mail, zoom-out to close windows in every app, and a swipe down to bring up Quicksilver? Done done done.
MultiClutch works by installing a simple input manager that catches gesture events, looks to see what shortcut you’ve defined for it in the frontmost app (if you haven’t defined anything, it behaves in the standard manner), and performs that shortcut. You use a System Preference Pane to customize gestures with an interface similar to the shortcut-customization table in the Keyboard & Mouse pane. You can ‘bind’ gestures in a given Cocoa app (due to the nature of input managers, Carbon apps are not supported) or globally.
I actually find it easier to use the multi touch compared to the mouse somehow, the touchpad is big so i can navigate as easily as with a mouse and the multitouch gestures make it so much better to use.
I was thinking of getting a mighty mouse but im not sure its worth it as apple gestures make navigateing so good. are the press buttons on the mighty mouse just 1 button or two.
So Apple told Google not to use multi-touch gestures in its Google Android phone and Google listened to them. The phone is capable of multitouch gestures, but Apple told Google not to use it to protect the iPhone.
Is Apple out of line? Are they Microsoft Jr.? Is Apple replaying the patenting of a GUI OS from the 1980s?
Apple is stifling innovation with these anti-competitive practices.
A friend of mine recently purchased a brand new VGN-CS11S_P notebook. All works fine except for the volume ‘Touch Sensor Buttons’ which are extremely unresponsive.
I’m referring to the strip of multimedia touch buttons as pointed out in this image: ...
I'm using 13.2.1.0 with my 1340 because the newer ones haven't worked. Next, navigate to the Device Settings tab, and click Settings. From there, the fun begins.
Go to Application Gestures, "Three Fingers Down," and select Configure. At that point, you'll need this command:
%windir%System32 undll32.exe dwmapi.dll #105
Copy that, select "Add" and paste it into the command text box. Name it Flip 3D or whatever you want, and select OK, OK, and click Apply. Now, make sure you have Three Finger Flick enabled. This will let you scroll between the applications that are running in Flip 3D. Once you get the hang of it, it's a very cool and easy way to get around. You know, or not. Whatever.
Ever since I upgraded to Windows 7 and installed the Dell Synaptic Drivers v13.2.2.2, I seem to have gained additional touchpad gestures.
Along with the original chiral-scroll and two-finger zoom I now have:
-two-finger scrolling (vertical and horizontal) -three-finger forward/back for web browsers and the Windows image viewer -rotate -three-finger quick launch (holding three fingers down for 1 second opens notepad) -momentum (I'm not sure if this one is new)
"Multi-Touch gestures in older Mac models. All Mac notebooks with Multi-Touch trackpads now support three- and four-finger gestures." from the snow leopard site. does this mean what i think it means? will my older mac (summer 2007) support multitouch?
I am finding my fan is constantly changes pitches, kinda of a whiny, siren sound. I don't think the actual sound at any given time is unnormal,
its more just that it is constantly changing, so it becomes annoying. I don't mind if my fan needs to be louder at times, but I would like for it to be loud at a consistent tone.
i'm having problems with my new acer v5 touchpad... i made a clean install of windows 8.1 and installed all the win 8.1 drivers from the acer support site. from the device id of my touchpad (ACPISYN1B71) i assumed that it is a synaptics model. Â the problem now: after installing several versions of the driver, even trying the alps and elantech versions, i could never manage to get multi-gesture settings in the settings windows from synaptics - there are only settings visible for right- and left-click. where are the multi-touch gesture options for windows 8? Â basic funtions work, like left click, two-finger right click and two-finger scrolling, but nothing is configurable and all the other gestures are not available.
I have dell inspiron duo 1090 with a multi touch screen suportted in windows 7, and the multi touch feature (right click with 2 fingers touch, zooming) used to work until I upgraded dell datasafe local backup to version 9.4.60 (after automatic reminder) and after this install the touch screen is working but the multi-tocuh functionality doesn't (although it was enabled in the windows settings) - no zooming or right click with 2 features touch, after I restored this software to version 9.4.51 the multi-touch is back to work, I checked this again and again to isolate the source of the problem and it really seems like a strange bug in datasafe 9.4.60.
How do I report this bug to dell so I could update the dell datasafe to an updated version but without loosing the multi-touch functionality.

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FW290 with Vista Home Premium 64x that I’ve had for approximately one year. I would like to upgrade it by replacing the original 5400rpm HD with a 7200rpm HD and a fresh install of Windows 7 Home Premium 64x.
Here are the questions I have:
Is there a preferred hard drive that works well in this style of laptop? I’m considering a Seagate Momentus 7200.4 or WD Scorpio Black.
If I install the new hard drive, can I boot from the Windows 7 installation disk and go? Will the basic hardware function properly at this point; CD drive, internet connection for Windows installation, etc.? Is there anything else I need to be aware of?
According to Sony eSupport, the VGN-FW290 model is “Windows 7 upgradeable”. Does this mean all the Sony Windows 7 drivers are available to provide the full functionality of the computer with a fresh install? There’s only a handful of Windows 7 Home Premium 64x drivers, on the Sony website, compared to the Vista Home Premium 64x OS. Do I use a combination of Vista drivers along with Windows 7 drivers? For example, I have the ATI Radeon HD 3650 video adapter and a Blu-ray read/write drive, but don’t see a Windows 7 driver for them.
I start the laptop.. the lights turn on.. windows loads up.. i press one of the media buttons... it lights up.. stays lit up and stays like that without doing what its suppose to..
I remember reading a thread similar to this a while back but am unable to find it. The fellow had his laptop replaced several times due to the media buttons being too dim when pressed.
I am having the same problem. How bright are your media buttons when you press them? I can barely see them unless I'm right on top of them purposely trying to see what I've pressed.
Is there any way to adjust the brightness of these or am I out of luck? I'm not really in the mood to have the laptop replaced as university classes are about to start back up and I can't be without it.
how the media buttons stop working after a resume and how the eject button stays on.
i have been testing something and would like others to try this out. follow me here: i notice the eject button light stays on when i close the lid and then pull the usb cable out (connected to a Dell 24" widescreen with usb port which connects: 2 mouse and 2 printers and a external drive). *IF* i disconnect the usb first and wait for the full disconnect sound and THEN close lid, the eject button doesn't light up.
i'm thinking... and it could be completely wong here but the eject button might have something to do with shut down and boot up of usb devices and is going though some sort of a systems check? why? i dunno. it's been rather sporatic but i head to class 4x's a week and i shut down differently and i have experienced different results. testing a few things out.
So yesterday after getting home i decided to use my laptop. Well i opened up the screen and noticed my wifi and sound buttons were orange but the sound was still on and so was the wifi. First things first i tried new drivers... No luck. After this i decided to open up the laptop and check the cable. Durring this i got the wifi button to work for about 5 seconds im not sure what i did but it still dosent work. I even tried another media bar cover from a working dv7 still no luck. So does anyone know where my problem might be or do i have to send this laptop into hp?
Basically I bought a Dell Inspirion 1525 with Vista, Downgraded to XP, had to change the Hard drive to IDA for the system to recognise XP. Been running fine then I pressed the MD button by mistake thinking it was the power button, it gets as far as 'Building you MD files' then says ''DMD cannot access your hard drive. This maybe because you have enabled Microsoft Bit Locker (Drive Encryption)'' etc etc. Now i'm hoping that means it hasn't wiped my HD cos i've read a load of people who've had problems with that button wiping everything out but i think it can't recognise my HD cos I switched it to IDA.
Anyways whenever I press the power button now it keeps loading MD and doing the same cycle and I can't load XP at all, tried loading it in safe mode and it crashes. PLEASE HELP ME!!! I can't get windows on at all and I really don't care about MD, infact when I can access windows again i'll be researching how to deactivate the MD button so this doesn't happen again unless someone can provide that info aswell
I have a Vostro 1700 with Vista installed. When I got it I didn't want the Dell Mediadirect softare on there so reinstalled with those partitions removed and just Vista on there.
I also tried installing Windows XP to see how that worked on it; XP installed fine and worked well, but I had the problem that if I touched the Media Direct button it could knacker up the whole XP installation. Obviously,
I couldn't resist trying, and low and behold, when I pressed the button my XP installation was corrupted! (my original thread on it was here - New Vostro 1700 laptop! Why are there four partitions, and can I get rid of them?!)
I've really not liked Vista, and do want to get Windows 7 on the Vostro, but what I want to make sure before I pay out for Windows 7 is that I'm not going to have the same problem with that damn Media Direct button .....
I'm new here, so I apologize if I'm not doing this right or if this has been addressed.
I recieved a new Studio 1535 for Christmas. It was purchased on Thanksgiving Day so its past the 21 days. Everything was working great, but all of a sudden, randomly the eject button started lighting up and trying to eject a cd.
This did it for a little while, my sister has a MAC and says her's does the same thing. It was my first time with a slot loading cd drive..so I took her word for it.
Then it kept happening. Next, the volume button would light up..raise the volume up all the way on the screen and stay there. I would manually try to lower it, and it wouldn't let me
Like you from the first day I had my hands on my Dell Studio 1535 I have the problem with sensitive buttons, eject the cd light stays lit,
the light stays lit lower volume and not permitted me to walk up or down the volume or when the team suspended him again and I fastened to light one of those lights, etc etc.
I changed the panel of sensitive buttons 2 times, thinking the problem was that but never fix the problem .....
