View 4 Replies View RelatedUse MultiClutch to assign multi-touch gestures in almost any application in OS X!
Quote:
Basically, Multiclutch allows you to assign custom keyboard shortcuts in a given app to a given gesture. Want swipes to change tabs in Safari? Done. The same in iChat? Done. Want zoom-in to open emails in Mail, zoom-out to close windows in every app, and a swipe down to bring up Quicksilver? Done done done.
MultiClutch works by installing a simple input manager that catches gesture events, looks to see what shortcut you’ve defined for it in the frontmost app (if you haven’t defined anything, it behaves in the standard manner), and performs that shortcut. You use a System Preference Pane to customize gestures with an interface similar to the shortcut-customization table in the Keyboard & Mouse pane. You can ‘bind’ gestures in a given Cocoa app (due to the nature of input managers, Carbon apps are not supported) or globally.
I actually find it easier to use the multi touch compared to the mouse somehow, the touchpad is big so i can navigate as easily as with a mouse and the multitouch gestures make it so much better to use.
I was thinking of getting a mighty mouse but im not sure its worth it as apple gestures make navigateing so good. are the press buttons on the mighty mouse just 1 button or two.
My multi-touch works great in every way, except for the zooming thing like the iTouch...
When I put my fingers together and open it slowly the image go into FULL ZOOM and if I put them back together go to a complete ZOOM OUT...

So Apple told Google not to use multi-touch gestures in its Google Android phone and Google listened to them. The phone is capable of multitouch gestures, but Apple told Google not to use it to protect the iPhone.
Is Apple out of line? Are they Microsoft Jr.? Is Apple replaying the patenting of a GUI OS from the 1980s?
Apple is stifling innovation with these anti-competitive practices.
Anyone have it and have any opinions on the touch screen.
Do you use it?Is it a waste? Is it awesome?...
Multi-Touch trackpad and windows! is there a driver for this?

New Synaptics Driver - Multitouch like Macbooks
I'm using 13.2.1.0 with my 1340 because the newer ones haven't worked. Next, navigate to the Device Settings tab, and click Settings. From there, the fun begins.
Go to Application Gestures, "Three Fingers Down," and select Configure. At that point, you'll need this command:
%windir%System32
undll32.exe dwmapi.dll #105
Copy that, select "Add" and paste it into the command text box. Name it Flip 3D or whatever you want, and select OK, OK, and click Apply. Now, make sure you have Three Finger Flick enabled. This will let you scroll between the applications that are running in Flip 3D. Once you get the hang of it, it's a very cool and easy way to get around. You know, or not. Whatever.
Ever since I upgraded to Windows 7 and installed the Dell Synaptic Drivers v13.2.2.2, I seem to have gained additional touchpad gestures.
Along with the original chiral-scroll and two-finger zoom I now have:
-two-finger scrolling (vertical and horizontal)
-three-finger forward/back for web browsers and the Windows image viewer
-rotate
-three-finger quick launch (holding three fingers down for 1 second opens notepad)
-momentum (I'm not sure if this one is new)
I have found out that the touch pad surface extends further than it should. I have a habit on leaning on my elbow,
when I have my laptop on my legs I put my elbow on the palm rests. I found out quickly though that if I lean on it I end up doing a multi touch zoom,
to start off with I thought my system was just being rubbish but then I tested it again and it worked fine after I took my elbow off.
This must mean that the touch surface extends further than the edge of the "touchpad",
I just wonder how far it actually goes and whether we could make use of it .
I upgraded the OS to Windows 7 professional x64 several months ago, at that time sony had not provided the drivers yet,
but still Win7 recognized most of the devices and I've tried to install the drivers for other OS,
most the installations were incomplete but somehow some of the multi-media buttons worked except for the AV MODE button
"Multi-Touch gestures in older Mac models. All Mac notebooks with Multi-Touch trackpads now support three- and four-finger gestures." from the snow leopard site. does this mean what i think it means? will my older mac (summer 2007) support multitouch?
View 4 Replies View Relatedi'm having problems with my new acer v5 touchpad... i made a clean install of windows 8.1 and installed all the win 8.1 drivers from the acer support site. from the device id of my touchpad (ACPISYN1B71) i assumed that it is a synaptics model.
Â
the problem now: after installing several versions of the driver, even trying the alps and elantech versions, i could never manage to get multi-gesture settings in the settings windows from synaptics - there are only settings visible for right- and left-click. where are the multi-touch gesture options for windows 8?
Â
basic funtions work, like left click, two-finger right click and two-finger scrolling, but nothing is configurable and all the other gestures are not available.
I have dell inspiron duo 1090 with a multi touch screen suportted in windows 7, and the multi touch feature (right click with 2 fingers touch, zooming) used to work until I upgraded dell datasafe local backup to version 9.4.60 (after automatic reminder) and after this install the touch screen is working but the multi-tocuh functionality doesn't (although it was enabled in the windows settings) - no zooming or right click with 2 features touch, after I restored this software to version 9.4.51 the multi-touch is back to work, I checked this again and again to isolate the source of the problem and it really seems like a strange bug in datasafe 9.4.60.
How do I report this bug to dell so I could update the dell datasafe to an updated version but without loosing the multi-touch functionality.

I have an envy m6 touchscreen that is giving me problems that i can't solve. It has been great up until recently. i was using my laptop last nite when suddenly it turned off but i didn't think that the battery shoukd have been dead yet. its acting as if the bat is empty and plugging it in just turn on the orange led by the power plug. when i press the power button it flashes for a second but the screen does nothing and it doesn't actually turn on.I'm using my phone to attempt to find a solution atm which is very frustrating. adding to the stress is the fact that i have school work projects and a midterm project on it that I need to finish.Almost forgot to mention it started doing a few other odd things over the last week such as the touchscreen going nuts registering phantom touches endlessly until i close/hibernate/shutdown it.

I ordered this laptop from one of the retailer sites and received it today. We were very curious to check the touch screen functions. But nothing happened. The touch screen was not detected. [No pen or touch input available for this device]. There were no settings under control panel such as Tablet.
I have an HP Envy X2 PC Product number C2K61UA#ABA now running Win 8.1 32-bit. After installing the upgrade, the screen no longer responds to any touch. The touch pad does work, however.

The problem: I use an external monitor, so my laptop is usually shut. Randomly, my touch screen THINKS something is touching it, which disrupts whatever I'm doing. I would like to disable the touch screen completely, as I do not use it at all.
Â
I thought maybe the latch wasn't closing properly, but the screen resolution changes when I shut the laptop, so it KNOWS it's closed and switches to the proper resolution for my external monitor, but it DOES NOT disactivate the touch screen, and some dirt or something is touching it, changing where my mouse is pointed, where I am typing, etc.
Â
I have tried cleaning the screen and keyboard with compressed air.
Â
The problem happens randomly; sometimes when I CAD for the day, sometimes after hours of working.
Laptop is only 9 months old. I did all of the updates and then my touchscreen stopped working - that was 4 days ago. Today I did a system restore to the point before the 1st critical update (9/24/14). It still does not work. Did it corrupt my driver? And if so, what is the name of the driver? How can I restore the touch screen...

I have a HP ENVY dv6-7273ca with the following system information...I am running Windows 8.1, along with HP CoolSense. Â The notebook is always on a hard and flat surface, with plenty of space around it for ventilation. I periodically clear the fan vents with compressed air as preventative maintenance.
Â
Over the past few weeks I have found that, for no apparent reason, the fan has got increasingly loader and I would experience intermittent 'black screens' at start-up.  It has now got to the stage where the fan is constantly working at a high speed, and is extremely hot to the touch.  This includes at initial start up, even after long periods of shutdown, and with no other software other than the OS running.I have always run HP Support Assistant via Windows, and there does not seem to be any issues shown by this software.  I have also tried to run the HP System Health Scan, but all I get is a constant progress bar.  I have tried this in Google Chrome and Internet Explorer.I have checked, and I have the latest BIOS update.  I am running the ENERGY STAR power option.
Today, I tried connecting an external display to my HP ENVY TouchSmart 15 laptop, via a USB hub, only to discover that using the touch screen points at the corresponding part of the external display rather than the inbuilt one (the displays are being extended). Can this be changed?
Â
I'm using the same 64-bit Windows 8 installation and drivers that the computer came with.

1. What reason is there for the 800 dollar difference in price other than the beats headphones?
2.Does the back of the case only have the beats logo on it or is there any type of laser etching like on the original envy.
I am talking about the pack that's in between the laptop plug and the sock plug. I'm sitting about a foot away from it and I can hear a little buzzing, plus it is hot to touch (I can touch it for a few seconds though).
