Just buy, the video card did not work ... was a hardware problem ... HP came to seek the ... did little more than 10 days ... HP has returned to me the laptop ... and now everything works perfectly, minus the touch volume controls... the play, stop, and other ... activating and deactivating the wireless network...
If turns the volume on the taskbar touch control changes color ... that works, but fingers (touching it) does not work ...
Deploying the volume bar in the taskbar and click on the volume control Touch ... volume bar is moved a few millimeters, but always returns to the same place
HP has changed my motherboard for the problem of video ... if I remember that before the touch controls worked lead to perfection ...

Apr 9, 2010I think I accidentally turned off the volume bar on my laptop and I'm not sure how to turn it back on. sound does work I have to manually adjust it using the volume icon and all the lights are on. I can't even turn on/off my wireless button.

Aug 25, 2009if there was a way to turn off the touch-strip at the top of the 8510 - or, better yet, an individual "button". The problem is, when I move my laptop around, I sometimes brush one of the touch-sensitive buttons.
At times I've been wondering why my wireless wasn't working and, after trying various things, finally realised I'd accidentally hit the little blue antenna button on the touch-strip...
If I can turn the entire thing off, that would be great.. is there a service or something that monitors it which I can turn off?

Anyways, can you disable the touch sensitive controls above the keyboard on this laptop? I have to use the F1-F10 buttons very often in an online game I play, and sometimes accidentally slide a finger over the WiFi touch sensitive button which immediately disables my internet connection so I get disconnected from my game. Very annoying if you have been playing for a while and accidentally touch that thing without being able to get to a save zone.
As for the other buttons besides the WiFi one, if I accidentally touch those, my game gets minimized and I have to wait for the HP Info Center window to load up before I can get back into my game, which by that time my character is already dead.
I looked around sites found with google and couldn't find anything. I never use the touch sensitive buttons besides the volume one (which is rarely used too and could do without if getting rid of the WiFi touch sensitive button means getting rid of all the touch sensitive buttons).

Mar 29, 2009After I got it back I reinstalled windows (Vista Ultimate 64bit) and after a week it crashed with the blue screen at boot (error 7E). I could not come into windows (not even in safe mode or system restore), so I brought it back to HP.
They did not find any hardware failures with the tests. They EVEN tried installing winXP on some other disk and while everything worked fine they made a conclusion that the laptop is ok. And I was just advised to reinstall OS.
Did that and after 2 days some new troubles appeared.
The "mouse" was clicking randomly (mostly with right button) and the current program (window) stopped being active.
I thought it was a virus (avira did not find anything), so I did another clean install (this time win7 32bit) - same thing. Went back to Vista 64 (with restore dvds made before the troubles began).
I tried disabling mouse, touch pad and touch styk - the mouse works normally when having touch styk disabled.
Now Vista is changing my Power Schemes sometimes (from HP Optimized to High performance and back for a few times).

This is what I have, and I imagine HP probably use the same drivers for most of its late model laptops on windows 7 for the touch activated media button i.e. the back lit strip above the keyboard just below the LED screen that let you activate WIFI, sound. playback..etc..
I have read from several posts that windows 7 install fine on HP laptop just that the touch strip driver does not work with the factory drivers.

Apr 2, 2010I need to tunr off or remove my wifi touch button from my dv8t. I have spent the last month searching, removing, reinstalling, and skrewing with this laptop to get it off. nothing works. At the moment, my wifi turns itself on and off 28 time a minute on average.
I have already installed the keyboard driver that doesnt have the hp QLB on it. I have also removed the quick launch button drivers.... im at a loss now.

Feb 24, 2009Are both needed for the volume and mute keys to work as well as play/paul skip etc? I am running into an issue on bootup where something sort of drags and I think its the software that goes with these buttons. If I try to use the system to early I can crash explorer. I was able to do this on two brand new laptops. Or would I be better installing the lastest Sound driver, quick touch?

Jan 13, 2009I got my SR on Christmas Eve. Everything has been great, until now. Today I connected a VAIO USB mouse to use instead of the touch-pad for the first time. Now, it seems like the touch-pad has gotten a mind of its own.
The touch-pad responds, but it seems to be very sporadic. When moving the cursor around, it seems to jump. The movement has also become slow even though in the mouse settings I have it set on fast .....

note:i downloaded all the drivers for x32 from the site and still they don't work and i checked device manager and found nothing not installed and b4 my format there were cool wallpapers vaio and some applications i don't remember from vaio but didn't find them on the site

Aug 16, 2009I actually find it easier to use the multi touch compared to the mouse somehow, the touchpad is big so i can navigate as easily as with a mouse and the multitouch gestures make it so much better to use.
I was thinking of getting a mighty mouse but im not sure its worth it as apple gestures make navigateing so good. are the press buttons on the mighty mouse just 1 button or two.

HP Envy M6 :: UltraBook Touch Won't Turn On?
Nov 1, 2014I have an envy m6 touchscreen that is giving me problems that i can't solve. It has been great up until recently. i was using my laptop last nite when suddenly it turned off but i didn't think that the battery shoukd have been dead yet. its acting as if the bat is empty and plugging it in just turn on the orange led by the power plug. when i press the power button it flashes for a second but the screen does nothing and it doesn't actually turn on.I'm using my phone to attempt to find a solution atm which is very frustrating. adding to the stress is the fact that i have school work projects and a midterm project on it that I need to finish.Almost forgot to mention it started doing a few other odd things over the last week such as the touchscreen going nuts registering phantom touches endlessly until i close/hibernate/shutdown it.
