View 3 RepliesIs it possible to completely disable the Quick touch buttons at the top of the dv5t keyboard?...I already unistalled quick touch driver...but they still work
View 3 Replies View RelatedI need to tunr off or remove my wifi touch button from my dv8t. I have spent the last month searching, removing, reinstalling, and skrewing with this laptop to get it off. nothing works. At the moment, my wifi turns itself on and off 28 time a minute on average.
I have already installed the keyboard driver that doesnt have the hp QLB on it. I have also removed the quick launch button drivers.... im at a loss now.
Are both needed for the volume and mute keys to work as well as play/paul skip etc? I am running into an issue on bootup where something sort of drags and I think its the software that goes with these buttons. If I try to use the system to early I can crash explorer. I was able to do this on two brand new laptops. Or would I be better installing the lastest Sound driver, quick touch?

This is what I have, and I imagine HP probably use the same drivers for most of its late model laptops on windows 7 for the touch activated media button i.e. the back lit strip above the keyboard just below the LED screen that let you activate WIFI, sound. playback..etc..
I have read from several posts that windows 7 install fine on HP laptop just that the touch strip driver does not work with the factory drivers.
I just upgraded to win7 but after it my speakers button still stay amber. I still get sound but it just doesnt turn white. How would i get it back to normal again?

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy laptop (Latitude D620) is driving me..How do I turn off the touchpad and disable the top row (between touchpad and spacebar) of mouse buttons? When ever I'm in Word, or composing an email, the cursor moves up into previously typed text and starts typing from there instead of where I was at. I suspect it is the touchpad or the 'mouse' buttons between the touchpad and the space bar. On a ThinkPad there was way to turn off the touchpad, but still leave the joystick/pointer enabled. But I need to also disable the top row of mouse buttons.
In other words what I want is a set up where the joystick/pointer works and the bottom row (below the touchpad) of mouse buttons works, but not the touch pad itself, or the top row of buttons. It sounds funny, but it has become a severe productivity issue. The cursor jumping has happened 7 times just in this one email !!
Sony Viao (NW series at least) have a quick boot feature for access to the internet without fireing up your operating system. Hit the special quick access button and away you go.
Guess what, if it is a computer for your child you cant even turn the button off or set it with a password. It resides on your motherboard any parental controls mcafee or otherwise are useless. The system for the quick access is by devicevm and is called splashtop.
how to control this, keep in mind this runs straight off the motherboard and windows is not fired up.
I have a crack on my screen that starts in the bottom left and spreads to almost the top right. It is not bad and everything works fine except for the touchscreen. Only half the touchscreen works and sometimes the crack causes the other half of the touchscreen to act on its own and its very annoying and messes me up when I try to surf the web or use Microsoft Office. Is there a way I can disable the touchscreen?

The problem: I use an external monitor, so my laptop is usually shut. Randomly, my touch screen THINKS something is touching it, which disrupts whatever I'm doing. I would like to disable the touch screen completely, as I do not use it at all.
Â
I thought maybe the latch wasn't closing properly, but the screen resolution changes when I shut the laptop, so it KNOWS it's closed and switches to the proper resolution for my external monitor, but it DOES NOT disactivate the touch screen, and some dirt or something is touching it, changing where my mouse is pointed, where I am typing, etc.
Â
I have tried cleaning the screen and keyboard with compressed air.
Â
The problem happens randomly; sometimes when I CAD for the day, sometimes after hours of working.
I have Lenovo Thinkpad Edge 15... Thinkpad edge 15 has all kinds of buttons on the keyboard. Like volume buttons, speaker mute button etc.
The problem is that there is a button for Webcam to disable/enable it (marked with yellow box on the pic), but its not working anymore. Everytime i push it, nothing happens(instead it shows me mouse cursor with that ring) . it should show me that camera is on/off. For example it shows me when my mic is off.
Lovely machine this, but a couple of times now, I've accidentally hit the wireless enable/disable touch button above the keyboard. Does any one know please whether there is a way of disabling this from working in Win 7?

I’m referring to the strip of multimedia touch buttons as pointed out in this image: ...
I upgraded the OS to Windows 7 professional x64 several months ago, at that time sony had not provided the drivers yet,
but still Win7 recognized most of the devices and I've tried to install the drivers for other OS,
most the installations were incomplete but somehow some of the multi-media buttons worked except for the AV MODE button
The touch sensitive eject button on my new Studio 15 laptop appears to be stuck on. When I reboot the laptop, the media control lights flash back and forth as normal. However, the CD drive immediately ejects and the eject button light stays permanently on. This all happens the second the laptop comes on - long before it boots into Vista. This makes me suspect a hardware rather than software issue.
Â
None of the other touch sensitive media controls work.
Â
I've tried cleaning the button, checking for dirt under and on the button and rebooting the laptop. I also rested it overnight.
Â
I only got the laptop on Friday.
Well after i reformat my pc the gray window that shows after you touch one of the five touch sensitive button doesn't show.same goes when you Fn+F5 which supposed to show WLAN and bluetooth card settings. What application or something i have to install for this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a dell Studio 1558 laptop. I'm extremely careful not to have liquids anywhere near my keyboard. Â However I was drinking tea and felt I was far enough back that liquids should not even reach the laptop. I was probably about a foot back. Well one of my cats nudged my arm and hit it with enough force that a few drops hit the touch pad. Â I cleaned it up. Â This morning I turn my laptop on and now my left touch pad button does not work. I figured that I probably needed to clean it. So I pried the button off gently. Â And used a little rubbing alcohol on a q-tip and cleaned it off. When I pried it up it didn't look really dirty at all. There was no residue on the inside that I could see. Â I put the button back on, and it still doesn't work. Â So now I'm wondering if enough got inside to actually cause damage or if it's just coincidental that the button stopped working at the same time? Â I used it all the time for copying stuff and scrolling. I can use all the other buttons and scroll without using it.
Should the cleaning underneath have cured it if it was the liquid? If the liquid got past the underneath of the key itself then it should have affected the whole key pad not just one key, right?
I have an envy m6 touchscreen that is giving me problems that i can't solve. It has been great up until recently. i was using my laptop last nite when suddenly it turned off but i didn't think that the battery shoukd have been dead yet. its acting as if the bat is empty and plugging it in just turn on the orange led by the power plug. when i press the power button it flashes for a second but the screen does nothing and it doesn't actually turn on.I'm using my phone to attempt to find a solution atm which is very frustrating. adding to the stress is the fact that i have school work projects and a midterm project on it that I need to finish.Almost forgot to mention it started doing a few other odd things over the last week such as the touchscreen going nuts registering phantom touches endlessly until i close/hibernate/shutdown it.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI wish to disable the touch pad on my Inspiron 1545 with Windows 8.. I have a Logitech wireless mouse. Currently both the mouse and the touch pad operate the curser. I want to only use the mouse. In Windows 7 the default was mouse only as soon as the wireless interface was installed. This is not the case with Windows 8.
I've been told to go to the Device driver and select the touch pad under Mouse and other pointers. The touch pad is not listed. I've tried disabling the PC Mouse compatible but the disable button is inactive.
I applied the recommended bios update yesterday and now the touch screen nearly continuously activates when I'm not using it. Â which renders the mouse pretty much useless too. Â I know HP will release a bios that fixes this eventually but in the meantime how do I turn off the touch screen?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy laptop, an Inspiron 15R, will not turn on. View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought my Lenovo Y40 on the Lenovo Web site a couple months ago and recently, to turn on, I have to press the power button twice. When I press just once, the Lenovo`s logo is displayed on the screen, but after 2 seconds everything turns off. On the second trying, finally the laptop turns on and the windows is started.
In addition, rarely the laptop stucks on the lenovo`s logo screen, being necessary to hold on the power to reset it.
My computer went through an automatic update today and now I cannot turn on the wireless with the wireless button. Do I need updated drivers too?
