Sep 9, 2009I have a HP HDX X16 1040US. After I format the laptop, I can't access the Quick Launch Button(adjust volume, treble, previous, pause, play, fast forward and so on).

HP/Compaq :: Dv4t Quick Launch And Quick Touch
Feb 24, 2009Are both needed for the volume and mute keys to work as well as play/paul skip etc? I am running into an issue on bootup where something sort of drags and I think its the software that goes with these buttons. If I try to use the system to early I can crash explorer. I was able to do this on two brand new laptops. Or would I be better installing the lastest Sound driver, quick touch?

Oct 13, 2009I took delivery of a HDX16 - 1030EA last week. The MUTE button works but does not go white, it is continually red even when sound is playing. I have uninstalled the quick launch software & re-installed same. No difference.
I am running Vista home premium 64 & used the 64 drivers.

Dec 2, 2009i installed the newest drivers from hp (6.50.9.1), didn't help. uninstalled them, installed 6.50.7.1, didn't work.
that and i've been getting that system sound you get from plugging in or unplugging a USB-device, even though i'm not doing that (know what i'm referring to?)

It came with vista installed and when i pressed the volume buttons on top of the keyboard a gray bar used to come indicating the volume...but when i installed Windows 7 the gray bar is not coming....even though the buttons function properly(that is volume goes up and down) (pressing the volume touch button increases the volume, but does not display the volume slider window on the screen)

Mar 20, 2009I've got a new dv7t. I did a clean install of vista and then installed the latest quick launch drivers from the hp site (6.4 or so). Is there supposed to be a way to configure what these buttons (besides the wireless, mute and volume) do?

May 29, 2010I bought a HP dv4 1242TX in may 2009. Except for the heating problem, it was working okay till last week. The quick launch buttons (qlb) have gone berserk. The volume reaches the maximum level and stays there even on reducing it through or manually. It temporarily goes down and as soon I remove my finger from the qlb, the volume goes to maximum level. I have downloaded and installed the latest driver for qlb's but the problem persists. Due to this, the other qlb's for wlan, quick play, play stop etc are not working. I do not know what seems to be the problem and my warranty period also got over.

This is what I have, and I imagine HP probably use the same drivers for most of its late model laptops on windows 7 for the touch activated media button i.e. the back lit strip above the keyboard just below the LED screen that let you activate WIFI, sound. playback..etc..
I have read from several posts that windows 7 install fine on HP laptop just that the touch strip driver does not work with the factory drivers.

Apr 2, 2010I need to tunr off or remove my wifi touch button from my dv8t. I have spent the last month searching, removing, reinstalling, and skrewing with this laptop to get it off. nothing works. At the moment, my wifi turns itself on and off 28 time a minute on average.
I have already installed the keyboard driver that doesnt have the hp QLB on it. I have also removed the quick launch button drivers.... im at a loss now.

Jan 10, 2009I have an Acer Aspire 6930 and it has the easy launch button for the Arcade Utility. I can not get it to launch and I do not see it in the programs. How can I tell if I have the Arcade Utility or not even though the button is there? The WLAN and internet buttons work but not the bluetooth or arcade ones. I'v not found any answers on the web.

Guess what, if it is a computer for your child you cant even turn the button off or set it with a password. It resides on your motherboard any parental controls mcafee or otherwise are useless. The system for the quick access is by devicevm and is called splashtop.
how to control this, keep in mind this runs straight off the motherboard and windows is not fired up.

Feb 10, 2010My HP Pavillion dv2680 entertainment notebook has a feature called QuickPlay which consists of a special button on the keyboard which, when pressed, will turn the notebook on and launch the media software HP QuickPlay as soon as its up and running.
My question is, is can this button be used to launch an alternative operating system?
This button has been designed for launching the notebook into a media player rather than a notebook. The operating system (Vista in my case) is receiving some form of notification that QuickPlay was requested, instead of a usual boot.
Such an option would mean a pre-Windows Vista boot loader to interpret the options during boot.

Jul 17, 2009planning on purchasing either an HDX16 or HDX18 for college. Right now, the HDX18 is cheaper, but which one would be the best for transporting between classes, etc? Also, how would you take notes if the battery only last two hours?

May 16, 2009Ok after 3 days of using the 1340 I just realized the button on the top panel that you can use to increase/decrease volume stopped working. I had updated the latest drivers from Dell site but not sure if that is the reason.
Also non of the other buttons that are for DVD work either. And I know they were working when I got the laptop and only thing I have done is update with latest drivers.

Mar 20, 2010I have an S series and when I press the silver VAIO button it mutes the sound.
I haven't found where to change the function of this button.
I've only removed the following Sony apps:
media gallery
pmb 5 and pmb plugins (click2disk/image optimizer/movie story)
vaio content metadata intelligent analyzing manager
vaio transfer support
Unfortunately I can't remember the default function of this button. Perhaps it was the media gallery? I'd like to change it anyhow.

Oct 9, 2009my mute button at the top of my computer functions, but does not change color when i mute or unmute something i'm watching or listening to. it does however make a popping noise and change color at what seems like random, just when clicking through websites. it will change color and making this popping noise but it won't actually mute. the color changing is not really an issue for me it's just the random "pop" sound i get that can get very annoying and have no idea how to get it running again properly. it's been like this for several weeks and can't trace it back to anything i've done around that time.

Feb 16, 2009So yesterday after getting home i decided to use my laptop. Well i opened up the screen and noticed my wifi and sound buttons were orange but the sound was still on and so was the wifi. First things first i tried new drivers... No luck. After this i decided to open up the laptop and check the cable. Durring this i got the wifi button to work for about 5 seconds im not sure what i did but it still dosent work. I even tried another media bar cover from a working dv7 still no luck. So does anyone know where my problem might be or do i have to send this laptop into hp?

Sep 21, 2009I had a registry hack to remap the quickplay button that worked fine under XP. This is the touch sensitive control at the top of my dv5t next to the mute, volume, play controls. Under XP the location was:

But it doesn't appear to work under Win 7. Does anyone know the location for Win 7?
I don't want to install Quickplay, and didn't need to under XP. All the other buttons work fine out of the box.
I've seen two locations for Vista:

Change the key "Main" to the path of the program you want (sans the quotation marks if you copy it as a path). The original value of this is something like C:Program Files (x86)HPQuickplayOP.exe (no quotation marks). Replace that. I replaced it with C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft Origami Experience Pack 2.0Origami Experienceox.exe (Origami central executable).
