How can i change the email quicklaunch button to open an email client other than outlook.I set mozilla's thunderbird as my default email client during its installation, but the quicklaunch button still opens outlook.
i installed the newest drivers from hp (6.50.9.1), didn't help. uninstalled them, installed 6.50.7.1, didn't work.
that and i've been getting that system sound you get from plugging in or unplugging a USB-device, even though i'm not doing that (know what i'm referring to?)
It came with vista installed and when i pressed the volume buttons on top of the keyboard a gray bar used to come indicating the volume...but when i installed Windows 7 the gray bar is not coming....even though the buttons function properly(that is volume goes up and down) (pressing the volume touch button increases the volume, but does not display the volume slider window on the screen)
I even installed the latest HP Quick launch buttons Windows 7 driver:
I've got a new dv7t. I did a clean install of vista and then installed the latest quick launch drivers from the hp site (6.4 or so). Is there supposed to be a way to configure what these buttons (besides the wireless, mute and volume) do?
I bought a HP dv4 1242TX in may 2009. Except for the heating problem, it was working okay till last week. The quick launch buttons (qlb) have gone berserk. The volume reaches the maximum level and stays there even on reducing it through or manually. It temporarily goes down and as soon I remove my finger from the qlb, the volume goes to maximum level. I have downloaded and installed the latest driver for qlb's but the problem persists. Due to this, the other qlb's for wlan, quick play, play stop etc are not working. I do not know what seems to be the problem and my warranty period also got over.
I need to tunr off or remove my wifi touch button from my dv8t. I have spent the last month searching, removing, reinstalling, and skrewing with this laptop to get it off. nothing works. At the moment, my wifi turns itself on and off 28 time a minute on average.
I have already installed the keyboard driver that doesnt have the hp QLB on it. I have also removed the quick launch button drivers.... im at a loss now.
Are both needed for the volume and mute keys to work as well as play/paul skip etc? I am running into an issue on bootup where something sort of drags and I think its the software that goes with these buttons. If I try to use the system to early I can crash explorer. I was able to do this on two brand new laptops. Or would I be better installing the lastest Sound driver, quick touch?
I have been looking at the Dell Latitude e6400, Lenovo T410, and the HP Elitebook 8440P. Dell is slow on the tech refresh of the Latitude and the T410 is not as solid as I would like (Plastic, Loose Battery, Squeaky Keyboard).
I am learning that you really cant customize an HP unless you don't care about the price tag. I mostly use Business Apps, Cloud Services, and Demo software/hardware products (Demos in Virtual Box Machines). My main criteria is a light weight, durable machine. Of course the faster the better!!!
An 8440P with i5-520M, Integrated Graphics, 1600x900, 4GB Ram, and 250 GB HDD is over $2K when customized.
Pre-configured with an i7-620M, NVIDIA NVS 3100 (512 MB), 1600x900, 4GB RAM, and 320 GB HDD is $1500.
Will the i7 and NVIDIA significantly reduce the battery life and run warmer?
I have a HP HDX X16 1040US. After I format the laptop, I can't access the Quick Launch Button(adjust volume, treble, previous, pause, play, fast forward and so on).
The laptop is a HP EliteBook 8440p running Windows 7 Professional Win7Pro.
The HP Wireless Assistant has the following message: Wireless LAN Adapter: This device is disabled in the device manager and cannot be enabled from Wirelss Assistant. It can still be turned off.
I have checked the device manager do not see where to turn it on.
There is a blue light on the above the keyboard and on the front side of the laptop. It's turned on in the bios. I've tried to resintall the driver.
The wireless device model # installed is: intel model: 622anhmw sps: +572509-001 OB
How to proceed? I hope to avoid a complete resinstall.
Recently purchased a refurb HP Elitebook 8440p, and noticed that even though the mute button works the quick key just above the keyboard is always orange. Is there a way for me to correct this so it shows orange only when muted and green when not muted?
My client has an elitebook 8440p and has been using the fingerprint logon for so long he has forgotten his bios password. There is no setup of security questions or usb spare key available.
We can get into the bios via fingerprint but cannot remove the bios password or regain this password. From what I understand, even though he can log in with his finger and access the bios with his finger, he cannot remove or change his typed password.
From other posts I saw that HP emailed a file to remove the bios security to the user in similar cases. I am looking for who he should contact, via email, phone, etc, to get his bios security removed. Again, he can access using his fingerprint only at this point and wants to remove all security at this point.
I'd like to use this machine for Oracle development (as it's predecessor was certified for Red Hat).
When building the machine from the options I've chosen the SUSE OS, that I plan to replace later with Oracle Linux. I've also eliminated all unnecessary hardware to reduce any incompatibilities and maximize the battery life which required deselecting Windows.
However, in terms of updating the firmware for the machine, no one does linux firmware updates which means that I have to have access to Windows OS, which means having to purchase a copy of W7 and somehow getting hold of the necessary HP downloads, hopefully free from the download area!
I've read a few articles that say that it is possible to use the 120GB mini-card SSD as a bootable drive as long as it is SATA and NOT PCI. The build options have the drive as a SATA which is also confirmed in the QuickSpecs document as well as it being a SATA3 / 6GB/s.
Whether the mini-card SSD can actually be used as a boot drive?
I have a HP Elitebook 8440p Notebook PC with Windows 7, 64 bit. I had to reinstall Windows 7 and all the necessary drivers. My remaining issue is the Missing Base System Driver. The message I get from Device Manager is:
PC1 bus 68, device 6, function 2. The driver for this device are not installed (Code 28).
I took delivery of a HDX16 - 1030EA last week. The MUTE button works but does not go white, it is continually red even when sound is playing. I have uninstalled the quick launch software & re-installed same. No difference.
I am running Vista home premium 64 & used the 64 drivers.
This is what I have, and I imagine HP probably use the same drivers for most of its late model laptops on windows 7 for the touch activated media button i.e. the back lit strip above the keyboard just below the LED screen that let you activate WIFI, sound. playback..etc..
I have read from several posts that windows 7 install fine on HP laptop just that the touch strip driver does not work with the factory drivers.
I have a HP 2000t-2d00 Notebook PC with Windows 8.1 operating system. The computer was repaired recently, but when I bought it, it had originally came with the HP Quick Start icon (square blue tile-like appearance with the rocket/NOT a shortcut with an arrow in it!)
After it was repaired, the original official HP Quick start icon was on the desktop. However, something happened, and the original official HP Quick Start icon is gone from the desktop!how to get the original HP Quick Start icon (square blue tile-like in appearance with the rocket) back onto my desktop.how to create a shortcut! I'm admittedly picky and like to have certain things on the desktop exactly the way they were when I first got the computer.
Is it possible to completely disable the Quick touch buttons at the top of the dv5t keyboard?...I already unistalled quick touch driver...but they still work
I've found that these buttons don't work anymore. Previously they worked properly but last week I've found that any of them does not work.
When I press each of them there is no any action: no action, no dialog window, no backlighting, nothing. I don't know what is it.OS: Windows 7 x64 SP1 with the latest updates.Other info: during my using of this laptop I have not had any damage or falling.
I had formatted by G42 HP Laptop after which brightness keys , f2 and f3 are not working.
I was told to install quick launch software for it from this link - [URL]... which I had tried to install however , was told that I already have a Quick lauch in my PC .When I checked , I already have a 2012 Quick Lauch software installed in Crive which I tried to run , repair and also uninstalled and installed the same again however , f2 and f3 still not working.
I also , tried to install the new software from the link mentioned however , f2 and f3 still not working . I have to use laptop daily and brightness needs to be adjusted .
I have an HP EliteBook 8570w, which I must say is the most awesome mobile workstation EVER. The touchpad BUTTONS - specifically the ones above the touchpad - how can I disable them? I have large hands and find myself accidentaly hitting the buttons, resulting in losing entire paragraphs of text or launching programs I didn't intend to launch.
I'd like to contact Apple on the mac mini with Snow Leopard Server to get some more information on it but I can't seem to find an email address that I can direct my concerns about the product to.
Does anyone have an email contact they may respond to or is the only way of reaching them going to be by phone?
I'm having problems with my m1730 and I'd like to get a replacement, but of course the low-on-the-totem-pole service techs are telling me no according to their script. I need to escalate that problem but they won't put me through to their supervisors, nor will they give me any phone numbers.
I bought a Dell laptop back in August of this year and sometime in September I registered my system for a Win 7 upgrade. It seems like everyone has put in their order now but I have yet to receive a notifying email.
I do have the confirmation email back in Sept from Dell.com that confirmed my service tag was registered...but I've heard nothing from then since.
Does anyone know anything about the timeline? Or what I should do?
