I took delivery of a HDX16 - 1030EA last week. The MUTE button works but does not go white, it is continually red even when sound is playing. I have uninstalled the quick launch software & re-installed same. No difference.
I am running Vista home premium 64 & used the 64 drivers.

I have a problem with my notebook. When I power my device everything is fine, but after ... let's several minutes sound disappears. The strange thing is that "mute button" on my keyboard is not responding too, when I hit it theres no orange light and one the screen appears a lvl of volume ( normally it should be a crossed volume lvl). When I want to play Spotify or something like that it says that my Audio card is used by another program... The funny thing is that when I did something like "stress test" (I played Spotify when sound worked just after system start) sound was working for about 6 hours and everything was fine.
System: Windows 8

Also I'd like to add that every system restart fixes that problem but only for a while (several minutes).

I don't understand. all buttons works,except f2 and f3 screen brightness. The program on the computer isn't installed...
Are both needed for the volume and mute keys to work as well as play/paul skip etc? I am running into an issue on bootup where something sort of drags and I think its the software that goes with these buttons. If I try to use the system to early I can crash explorer. I was able to do this on two brand new laptops. Or would I be better installing the lastest Sound driver, quick touch?

After updating everything from windows update and from HP, the mute button no longer lights up on the keyboard when I have the sound muted. I can see that it is muted from the taskbar in the corner, but it usually lights up orange after it has been muted, and now it no longer is.
View 6 Replies View Relatedwhen I woke up my HP Pavilion dv6 7010tx notebook (running windows 8 pro 64-bit) from sleep, I noticed that it had lost all sound. Audio tracks cannot be played on any media player, videos play intermittently without any audio, and there is no sound whatsoever irrespective of the program/application being run. Restarting the notebook doesn't fix this.
Also noteworthy is that pressing the f11 (mute) key doesn't do anything. The LED on the key remains off, the volume indication is shown on screen as it does while changing volume using f9 and f10 keys, however it doesn't show any mute/mute off indication as it should when functioning properly.

I have recently been fixed audio driver, but now something has gone wrong.
The mute button on the quick lauch buttons stays blue even when it is muted. It is a very small detail but I would like it to be fixed.
I'm not sure if it's caused by the Windows 8 update from a few days back, but the problem started around then.
The audio on my laptop is not working. The mute stays on, even when I press the physcial keyboard button to enable sound, and try to enable sound with my mouse from the volume menu. Nothing has audio.

It came with vista installed and when i pressed the volume buttons on top of the keyboard a gray bar used to come indicating the volume...but when i installed Windows 7 the gray bar is not coming....even though the buttons function properly(that is volume goes up and down) (pressing the volume touch button increases the volume, but does not display the volume slider window on the screen)

I've got a new dv7t. I did a clean install of vista and then installed the latest quick launch drivers from the hp site (6.4 or so). Is there supposed to be a way to configure what these buttons (besides the wireless, mute and volume) do?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought a HP dv4 1242TX in may 2009. Except for the heating problem, it was working okay till last week. The quick launch buttons (qlb) have gone berserk. The volume reaches the maximum level and stays there even on reducing it through or manually. It temporarily goes down and as soon I remove my finger from the qlb, the volume goes to maximum level. I have downloaded and installed the latest driver for qlb's but the problem persists. Due to this, the other qlb's for wlan, quick play, play stop etc are not working. I do not know what seems to be the problem and my warranty period also got over.

This is what I have, and I imagine HP probably use the same drivers for most of its late model laptops on windows 7 for the touch activated media button i.e. the back lit strip above the keyboard just below the LED screen that let you activate WIFI, sound. playback..etc..
I have read from several posts that windows 7 install fine on HP laptop just that the touch strip driver does not work with the factory drivers.

I need to tunr off or remove my wifi touch button from my dv8t. I have spent the last month searching, removing, reinstalling, and skrewing with this laptop to get it off. nothing works. At the moment, my wifi turns itself on and off 28 time a minute on average.

View 1 Replies View Relatedmy mute button at the top of my computer functions, but does not change color when i mute or unmute something i'm watching or listening to. it does however make a popping noise and change color at what seems like random, just when clicking through websites. it will change color and making this popping noise but it won't actually mute. the color changing is not really an issue for me it's just the random "pop" sound i get that can get very annoying and have no idea how to get it running again properly. it's been like this for several weeks and can't trace it back to anything i've done around that time.
