i installed the newest drivers from hp (6.50.9.1), didn't help. uninstalled them, installed 6.50.7.1, didn't work.
that and i've been getting that system sound you get from plugging in or unplugging a USB-device, even though i'm not doing that (know what i'm referring to?)

It came with vista installed and when i pressed the volume buttons on top of the keyboard a gray bar used to come indicating the volume...but when i installed Windows 7 the gray bar is not coming....even though the buttons function properly(that is volume goes up and down) (pressing the volume touch button increases the volume, but does not display the volume slider window on the screen)
I even installed the latest HP Quick launch buttons Windows 7 driver:

I've got a new dv7t. I did a clean install of vista and then installed the latest quick launch drivers from the hp site (6.4 or so). Is there supposed to be a way to configure what these buttons (besides the wireless, mute and volume) do?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought a HP dv4 1242TX in may 2009. Except for the heating problem, it was working okay till last week. The quick launch buttons (qlb) have gone berserk. The volume reaches the maximum level and stays there even on reducing it through or manually. It temporarily goes down and as soon I remove my finger from the qlb, the volume goes to maximum level. I have downloaded and installed the latest driver for qlb's but the problem persists. Due to this, the other qlb's for wlan, quick play, play stop etc are not working. I do not know what seems to be the problem and my warranty period also got over.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI need to tunr off or remove my wifi touch button from my dv8t. I have spent the last month searching, removing, reinstalling, and skrewing with this laptop to get it off. nothing works. At the moment, my wifi turns itself on and off 28 time a minute on average.

Are both needed for the volume and mute keys to work as well as play/paul skip etc? I am running into an issue on bootup where something sort of drags and I think its the software that goes with these buttons. If I try to use the system to early I can crash explorer. I was able to do this on two brand new laptops. Or would I be better installing the lastest Sound driver, quick touch?

This is what I have, and I imagine HP probably use the same drivers for most of its late model laptops on windows 7 for the touch activated media button i.e. the back lit strip above the keyboard just below the LED screen that let you activate WIFI, sound. playback..etc..
I have read from several posts that windows 7 install fine on HP laptop just that the touch strip driver does not work with the factory drivers.
Is it possible to completely disable the Quick touch buttons at the top of the dv5t keyboard?...I already unistalled quick touch driver...but they still work

If turns the volume on the taskbar touch control changes color ... that works, but fingers (touching it) does not work ...

I just got a HDX 9200 last week and all this time I've been fiddling with tweaking the original HP image, installing clean Vista OSes (like twenty times by now), trying different drivers, running drivers-update scammers (like DriverDetective, RadarSync, etc.) just to look at the newest version number of the drivers, then crawling the web to manually find and try them, and so, and so on.
Of course, in the need of having a clean Windows Vista installation (since the HP image has a lot of crap, slowdowns, outdated drivers, not SP1 slipstreamed, etc.) I had to start from scratch.
After installing the clean Vista setup and all the drivers, I found that the QuickLaunch buttons were given me problems. What happened is, at the end, that everyone of them works BUT the TV button. I'm running on the QuickLaunch Buttons drivers 6.40, also QuickTouch installed for OSD, and QuickPlay 3.7 (updated from CyberLink) and still, when touching the TV button, nothing happens. Not even a click is hear like with the others. The strangest thing is that, if I turn the computer on by pressing the TV button instead of the power, it boots... and then it opens the TV module in the QuickPlay app.! Just as it should!................
I had formatted by G42 HP Laptop after which brightness keys , f2 and f3 are not working.
I was told to install quick launch software for it from this link - [URL]... which I had tried to install however , was told that I already have a Quick lauch in my PC .When I checked , I already have a 2012 Quick Lauch software installed in Crive which I tried to run , repair and also uninstalled and installed the same again however , f2 and f3 still not working.

I have been trying to resolve this problem for the past 5 hours and am having no luck. I have an Acer Aspire 4710Z laptop and the touchpad left and right buttons will not work.
To select anything I have to tap the pad,I've tried to re-install drivers but to no avail.
I have a generally very nice install of Win7 Ultimate on a new SSD. But I can't control the screen backlighting or use the volume buttons. Other things I don't have that I could do without, but would be nice are the AV buttons. Not sure how well the stock Window power management is. View 2 Replies View RelatedMy apple had Mac and XP installed on it. My friend suggested me to install Windows 7 on it. And I thought it was a good idea. So I started my XP and runned it up. When win7 was completely installed everything seemed to work. Except that a few buttons on my keyboard don't work anymore now. The button for throwing out CD's and DVD's don't work anymore. And my 'Fn' button doesn't work anymore. Does anybody else have the same problem as me, or does someone know how to fix this. Because I also can't change the brightness. Which is set to maximum at the moment.
View 10 Replies View RelatedMy touchpad doesn't work but the buttons are working fine. It also clicks randomly (not with the left or right mouse buttons) so I have to disable it. I have installed the latest version of the Synaptic driver and the problem still persists. I think only the touchpad is having a problem because when I use a wireless mouse, it works fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy HP Pavillion dv2680 entertainment notebook has a feature called QuickPlay which consists of a special button on the keyboard which, when pressed, will turn the notebook on and launch the media software HP QuickPlay as soon as its up and running.
My question is, is can this button be used to launch an alternative operating system?
This button has been designed for launching the notebook into a media player rather than a notebook. The operating system (Vista in my case) is receiving some form of notification that QuickPlay was requested, instead of a usual boot.
Such an option would mean a pre-Windows Vista boot loader to interpret the options during boot.
planning on purchasing either an HDX16 or HDX18 for college. Right now, the HDX18 is cheaper, but which one would be the best for transporting between classes, etc? Also, how would you take notes if the battery only last two hours?
I will also have another coupon that takes off $250 from the price listed.

I think I will purchase the HDX18, and then return it in the 21 day period if I feel it is too large or something. Which one would you choose based on the specs and price and the portability for college?
