I have been trying to resolve this problem for the past 5 hours and am having no luck. I have an Acer Aspire 4710Z laptop and the touchpad left and right buttons will not work.
To select anything I have to tap the pad,I've tried to re-install drivers but to no avail.
I have owned my Dell M1330 notebook PC (specs in signature below) for over 4 years. Several weeks ago, the left and right-click touchpad buttons stopped working. The touchpad itself seems to be operating normally. I surmise I inadvertently deactivated the touchpad. I checked the manual, but it did not reveal how to reactivate (or deactivate) the touchpad buttons. How to reactivate the touchpad buttons, such as using the shortcut keys? I read one post in a PC forum of a similar situation; in that situation, the user's touchpad cable had come loose, but I understand this is a rare occurrence. I tried to clean the underneath of the touchpad mouse buttons of this Dell Vostro 2520 Notebook. since then both the buttons are not working. I am not being able to use the left right buttons and now using an external mouse.
What do I need to replace? How to purchase and from where. dell techincl support phone waiting time is currently 2-3 hours. I just tried.
after I put the parts back in, most of the keys on keyboard, touch pad, the sexy green light, the led light on the upper part don't work!
The graphic switch still work, the vaio, assist, special and disc reject button still work. Some of the keys still work like "w p s z '" and space bar

I recently downgraded from windows 8 to windows 7 and found out that the two usb ports on the left of my laptop doesn't work anymore i.e., they do not detect anything, be it pendrives or external harddrive. My laptop is HP Pavilion 15-n259TX.

Other things I don't have that I could do without, but would be nice are the AV buttons. Not sure how well the stock Window power management is. I've tried loading a mess of the drivers from the TX850P/B Vista drivers page. Just buy, the video card did not work ... was a hardware problem ... HP came to seek the ... did little more than 10 days ... HP has returned to me the laptop ... and now everything works perfectly, minus the touch volume controls... the play, stop, and other ... activating and deactivating the wireless network...
If turns the volume on the taskbar touch control changes color ... that works, but fingers (touching it) does not work ...

i installed the newest drivers from hp (6.50.9.1), didn't help. uninstalled them, installed 6.50.7.1, didn't work.
that and i've been getting that system sound you get from plugging in or unplugging a USB-device, even though i'm not doing that (know what i'm referring to?)

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy apple had Mac and XP installed on it. My friend suggested me to install Windows 7 on it. And I thought it was a good idea. So I started my XP and runned it up. When win7 was completely installed everything seemed to work. Except that a few buttons on my keyboard don't work anymore now. The button for throwing out CD's and DVD's don't work anymore. And my 'Fn' button doesn't work anymore. Does anybody else have the same problem as me, or does someone know how to fix this. Because I also can't change the brightness. Which is set to maximum at the moment.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI just got a HDX 9200 last week and all this time I've been fiddling with tweaking the original HP image, installing clean Vista OSes (like twenty times by now), trying different drivers, running drivers-update scammers (like DriverDetective, RadarSync, etc.) just to look at the newest version number of the drivers, then crawling the web to manually find and try them, and so, and so on.
Of course, in the need of having a clean Windows Vista installation (since the HP image has a lot of crap, slowdowns, outdated drivers, not SP1 slipstreamed, etc.) I had to start from scratch.
After installing the clean Vista setup and all the drivers, I found that the QuickLaunch buttons were given me problems. What happened is, at the end, that everyone of them works BUT the TV button. I'm running on the QuickLaunch Buttons drivers 6.40, also QuickTouch installed for OSD, and QuickPlay 3.7 (updated from CyberLink) and still, when touching the TV button, nothing happens. Not even a click is hear like with the others. The strangest thing is that, if I turn the computer on by pressing the TV button instead of the power, it boots... and then it opens the TV module in the QuickPlay app.! Just as it should!................
I've found that these buttons don't work anymore. Previously they worked properly but last week I've found that any of them does not work.
When I press each of them there is no any action: no action, no dialog window, no backlighting, nothing. I don't know what is it.OS: Windows 7 x64 SP1 with the latest updates.Other info: during my using of this laptop I have not had any damage or falling.
My touchpad doesn't work but the buttons are working fine. It also clicks randomly (not with the left or right mouse buttons) so I have to disable it. I have installed the latest version of the Synaptic driver and the problem still persists. I think only the touchpad is having a problem because when I use a wireless mouse, it works fine.

I just discovered a weird issue: both the alt keys and the space bar do not work when holding the up and left arrow keys simultaneously. I discovered this while playing a racing game. While holding up and left arrows, pressing either of the alt keys or the space bar produces no effect, and the laptop makes a "blip" noise.
All other keys seem to work while holding up + left arrows, and holding up + right arrow doesn't change a thing.I looked at the Ease of Acces settings (I've got Win7 Pro 64) and turned off all Filter Keys, Sticky Keys, etc.
Using an XPS15. My left touchpad button has some problems. It seems to only work if it's pressed 2-3 times, or if you push it down hard...
Could this be related to any settings / firmware? - I think it's more likely that's it's probably failing and needs to be replaced?

As a confirmed trackpoint user, having the mouse built into the trackpad of the T431s is causing me all sort of grief, including sore wrists - but there are two problems I can't seem to diagnose.
1) When clicking the pad for left mouse click, it often does not work until I click it a few times. I notice this more when I disable the trackpad for cursor movement (which I had to do because the cursor moves when I try to click) - but its there even when that is enabled. It comes and goes. I guess there could be some foot trapped in there, but I've only had it a week and been pretty careful. I'd rather not learn to remove the keyboard on day 6.
2) The right click gets into a condition where, when browsing,a click brings up a new tab of the link I clicked on, rather than showing me the options (open in new tab, incognito window, save link, etc). If I connect a real mouse, it is normal.

I have the above model and it seems to be performing quite nicely. However, what I've noticed on all Valve games is that after a few minutes, the frame rates drop from mid 70s-80s (low) to 10-15 regardless of whatever resolution, texture or ingame setting I change post this sudden drop. restarting the game makes the problem temporarily dissapear but is back within a few minutes. The effect is especially noticeable when there are about 30 zombies on top of you
I've tried disabling one core, reducing sound to low and have even monitored temperatures via nvidias system checker as well as speed fan. At no point does GPU/ CPU temperature exceed 60 degree celcius. Have also tried several drivers all the way from 178.x to 182.x (using modified infs) to no avail. Please share your input regarding this problem.
I also accidentally uninstalled acer bioware protection and upon reinstalling cannot set it up since clicking a blinking finger on the setup menu states "Unable to select fingerprint device!"
Music sounds rather "tinny" and baseless using these inbuilt speakers. I assumed with all this dolby gee whizz, id get a sublime experience
The mouse part of it works perfectly, as does the right clicker - but the left one is completely useless, which isn't good as that's the most important one.
I noticed this a few weeks ago that it was no longer as 'secure' as the right one, i.e. is seemed to be giving way on one side of the left clicker, and was moving about a bit in it's place. Now it's gotten progressively worse and no longer is able to click even, so it doesn't work and I have had to plug in an optical mouse to the usb port.
I lifted the little mouse clicker slot up with a knife to see what is wrong but all that seems to be the problem is that it is incredibly loose and no longer sits straight in its positioning. Underneath both clickers there is a small button attached to the mainboard and obviously the clicker needs to touch this to perform its' actions. But the left one doesn't seem to be reaching..
So basically I want to know is it likely that Acer would repair this for me? The laptop is still under warranty.
I guess the only long-term solution is an entire new mousepad, which would be expensive.
And that'd suck because 3/4 of it works perfectly and it's just this one button.
I am having this problem where the buttons on the right side of an acer 5920 (play, stop, forward, back, record) are not working under windows 7 32. Also just recently the red record button has been staying on :S and I can't seem to turn it off

A friend suggested I take the battery out for a bit and then plug it in without the battery. So I did and the keyboard worked for a couple of days like that. Then one day it stopped working again.

I leave my computer on during the day, and leave it occasionally for short periods of time..Lately, when I come back to it, the screen will be black..It is black because the computer turns itself off, for no reason that I can find out. When I turn it back on I get a caption that says the "user (name)has been locked out." Below that is a caption that I can click on that reads "switch user." If I click that caption, it says "user logged on." Which is the user that was just locked out! I click on that and my desktop comes up like nothing happened....
So far, to try and correct it, I have flashed the BIOS, because it needed updating. I thought this might work, but it has not corrected the problem. I have also done all of the standard things like defrag., cutting down on desktop icons, fewer starting programs, etc.
I have one Acer aspire 5740g. i had leave it on and when I came back (had spent over an hour) I found it off. Now when I try to start it nothing appears, the screen is still black and the computer seems to not process anything, but I hear the fan running. is it the BIOS problem or what it can be? browsing is the most common option I've found, also tried to do a power reset and nothing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI got my new 1810T and after opening it up, the first thing I noticed was that the touchpad buttons are not even.
By "even" I mean they're not level with each other. The left button sits a little higher on its right side and the right button sits lower on its left side.
Anyone else experience this? Is this something that has a simple fix like the double-sided tape for the mushy keyboard?
Also, I went into the device manager, opened up the monitor properties and when I choose "Hardware Ids" it shows this:

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe left click on my 3690 has quit working,and when I use the touch pad to control the cursor,it drags a blue box around.I tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling but I get the same problem.I also tried to update the drivers with no luck.I think it's a hardware problem.Any other suggestions?I wouldn't worry about it,but I use it to run my GPS,and I can't use a mouse in my vehicle.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have just received my Acer Aspire 1690 Laptop back from Acer after repairs (was freezing all the time - they replaced optical drive, hard drive and mainboard).
I am re-installing all my software but every now and then when a dialogue bx appears with a choice of buttons to click on there is no text so I don't know what buttons do what.
It doesn't happen every time but seems to happen when the dialogue boxes and buttons are not the standard windows type but ones made by the software (ie. they may be bigger than usual) - if that makes sense?
On my keyboard there are 4 buttons to the right of the power key and lights...
Looks like 1.Mail, 2.a Globe, 3.a "P", 4. an "E"
