Acer :: Connecting Wireless Aspire 8730
Dec 26, 2009I'm having probs connecting wireless my Acer Aspire 8730. I had this issue 5 days into buying this laptop. It seems to be an intermittant problem as sometimes it connects fine but other times it doesn't. Sometimes it finds other available networks but not my router. Comet sent the laptop back to Acer who insist there's not a problem with the network card. I did find a setting on my router for extended range that we have checked but the problem still persists. If I connect via the ethernet cable then no problems but if I sit the laptop next to the router it still doesn't connect wireless. It seems to have completely lost the plot over Christmas and can now find absolutely nothing wirelessly. I could try changing the router but I'm a bit loathed to do this as we have aother laptop that runs fine via my router. I'm not sure where to go from here as I know both Comet and Acer will deny there's a problem.

Apr 8, 2009i have an acer 8930, and i have problem with the multimedia touch thing(the keyboard) on the left, i cant control it, since the volume and mute keys are turned on(in blue), and everything else its turned off, and i try to use it and it wont do anything...so, this happend once before, but 2 days latter, it was working again, by its own, but now its happening the same for almost 2 weeks now, and i dont know what to do...

I'm really missing the multimedia buttons on my old Dell lappy, mostly the Play/Pause, Next, Back buttons, because I listen to music a ton with headphones on the go.
So I was wondering if anyone knows of any software or keyboard drivers I can use to add those such functions? Maybe so I can use Fn+C = Play, Fn+V = Back, Fn+B = Next for example?

Feb 20, 2010I have ordered, almost a month ago, a fully loaded 1645 with an i7, 8GB, 500GB, RGB screen.
I've been reading the threads about this machine and am concerned about it, because it seems to have a lot of problems, like throttling and heat. There also appear to be some problems with the RGB screen that are not yet "announced".
I am seeking to do multimedia production with this machine using Adobe CS4, as well as various audio/video applications.
I might play games from time to time, but my focus is really in production and running virtual machines for things like programming and office programs

Dec 26, 2009I just could not get multimedia keys and volume keys to work (the ones above the F keys, next to the power button)
I have just upgraded my VGN-CS11S/Q to Windows 7 - 64 Bit. I have updated the FEPD driver via windows update, and installed the utilities in following order:
Sony Shared Library
[reboot]
Vaio Event Service
[reboot]
Setting Utility Series
[reboot]
[reboot]
[reboot]
but no luck. Than, I have reformatted the system (actually, I have restored the image file, but is was a clean installation without any utils / drivers anyway) and installed the utilities in another order as follows:
Vaio Event Service
[reboot]
Sony Shared Library
[reboot]
Setting Utilitiy Series
[reboot]
still no luck. FN keys does work, and little OSD screen comes up as well when I use FN + volume up - volume down keys. But multimedia keys and volume keys (which is the one with lights) insisting on not working.

Jul 23, 2013I have just bought the G500 and I'm getting really annoyed by the keyboard. It has "great" multimedia keys as the main keys instead of usual F1-F12 keys. To access their functionality you must press Fn+appropriate key. The problem has been described here many times. But no solution works for G500.
I have tried: enter BIOS (no such option for keyboard)install Lenovo Slim USB Keyboard application (runs, but the option selected have no effect)install Lenovo Ultraslim Plus Wireless Keyboard & Mouse Driver application (do not run at all - just brings me to the desktop and do nothing). I'm not able to use the computer since I use a lot of application depending on the functional keys and if there is no solution I will have to buy another computer...

May 4, 2010I got my new 1810T and after opening it up, the first thing I noticed was that the touchpad buttons are not even.
By "even" I mean they're not level with each other. The left button sits a little higher on its right side and the right button sits lower on its left side.
Anyone else experience this? Is this something that has a simple fix like the double-sided tape for the mushy keyboard?
Also, I went into the device manager, opened up the monitor properties and when I choose "Hardware Ids" it shows this:

Jan 8, 2009I have been trying to resolve this problem for the past 5 hours and am having no luck. I have an Acer Aspire 4710Z laptop and the touchpad left and right buttons will not work.

Nov 12, 2008I have just received my Acer Aspire 1690 Laptop back from Acer after repairs (was freezing all the time - they replaced optical drive, hard drive and mainboard).
I am re-installing all my software but every now and then when a dialogue bx appears with a choice of buttons to click on there is no text so I don't know what buttons do what.
It doesn't happen every time but seems to happen when the dialogue boxes and buttons are not the standard windows type but ones made by the software (ie. they may be bigger than usual) - if that makes sense?

The graphic switch still work, the vaio, assist, special and disc reject button still work. Some of the keys still work like "w p s z '" and space bar

Can't adjust the screen brightness even in the power option.

Mar 6, 2010I have not had good luck with my SZ series notebooks in that the first one stopped responding to touch properly, and this one the left button needs quite firm presses to work correctly.
Is it possible to replace or fix just that one component or is it an assembly including the right button and the trackpad as well? Does anyone know the part number and where I might be able to find it along with a guide for replacing it?
