HP/Compaq :: PG Down And Up Buttons NOT Working
Jun 26, 2009why they stopped working they just did, my pg up and down button. when i press them they just go up but come back down again. Yesterday i accidently pressed the F7 button & this window popped up saying that the mode of the cursor had been changed..i don't know if that has anything to do with it but after i pressed f7 the page up and down buttons stopped working correctly...

Mar 9, 2009I currently own a HDX9494nr, and my touchpad and buttons are not working. I don't want to send it back, as this is my main computer, and I depend on it for work and leisure. Any suggestions for me? Maybe something I can fix, instead of shipping it back to HP and having no computer for two weeks? BTW, the cursor moves, but it dosen't respond when i tap it to open links or programs.

May 10, 2009I got my wife an HP DV2 for Mother's Day. She was extremely excited because she has needed a new laptop for quite some time. Anyway, we opened it and started to boot it up everything was looking good. I then happened to glance down at the mouse buttons and noticed that the left button looks as if it was pressed. There is definitely a gap when running your finger across the buttons. When pressing the right mouse button, it moves down as far as the left button sits while unpressed.
Now, I should clarify that the left button still works, it is just sitting lower than it seems like it should. I just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this with their "brand new out of the box" HP DV2. My wife and I were both extremely bummed out, only because I equate it to buying a brand new car and noticing that the headlight is pressed in a little it and is uneven. Are we being too picky? To us, it seems ridiculous that a $700 laptop would have a quality issue like this.
I'm attaching a couple pictures showing the issue - in one, you can see me pressing the right button down to the level of the left unpressed button.

Just buy, the video card did not work ... was a hardware problem ... HP came to seek the ... did little more than 10 days ... HP has returned to me the laptop ... and now everything works perfectly, minus the touch volume controls... the play, stop, and other ... activating and deactivating the wireless network...
If turns the volume on the taskbar touch control changes color ... that works, but fingers (touching it) does not work ...
Deploying the volume bar in the taskbar and click on the volume control Touch ... volume bar is moved a few millimeters, but always returns to the same place
HP has changed my motherboard for the problem of video ... if I remember that before the touch controls worked lead to perfection ...
Just as I returned the touch controls not working ... trying to solve the problem .... I installed Vista Ultimate 64bit and I downloaded all the drivers here [url] I have installed all ... even update the bios ... touch controls do not work

Dec 2, 2009i installed the newest drivers from hp (6.50.9.1), didn't help. uninstalled them, installed 6.50.7.1, didn't work.
that and i've been getting that system sound you get from plugging in or unplugging a USB-device, even though i'm not doing that (know what i'm referring to?)

It came with vista installed and when i pressed the volume buttons on top of the keyboard a gray bar used to come indicating the volume...but when i installed Windows 7 the gray bar is not coming....even though the buttons function properly(that is volume goes up and down) (pressing the volume touch button increases the volume, but does not display the volume slider window on the screen)

Mar 20, 2009I've got a new dv7t. I did a clean install of vista and then installed the latest quick launch drivers from the hp site (6.4 or so). Is there supposed to be a way to configure what these buttons (besides the wireless, mute and volume) do?

May 29, 2010I bought a HP dv4 1242TX in may 2009. Except for the heating problem, it was working okay till last week. The quick launch buttons (qlb) have gone berserk. The volume reaches the maximum level and stays there even on reducing it through or manually. It temporarily goes down and as soon I remove my finger from the qlb, the volume goes to maximum level. I have downloaded and installed the latest driver for qlb's but the problem persists. Due to this, the other qlb's for wlan, quick play, play stop etc are not working. I do not know what seems to be the problem and my warranty period also got over.

Feb 3, 2010i have the new HP dv4 with i5 processor and i recently formatted the HD to do a clean install of win 7. i installed most of the drivers and they seem to work fine, however, i can't get that graphic splash animation to show whenever i adjust the volume, mute, or turn on/off the wireless quicklaunch buttons. where can i download the HP drivers or software for this? or how do i enable it if it already has it?

Mar 7, 2009After some problems with software, I did a clean install of Vista Ultimate 64bit. I copied the Swsetup folder and used those drivers, downloaded some newer ones and some applications from official HP site.
It works all great, except the two QuickLaunch buttons: for Qmenu and WLAN. Nothing happens if I pressed them. They don't even blink! But the others work just fine - even the Fn keys.
I've tried reinstalling the QLB application and drivers for a dozen times with no change.

Apr 8, 2010I want to be able to scroll with my pointing stick using the pointing stick middle button, but no matter what I set it at with the synaptics software it will only perform the action which the touchpad middle button is set at.
Am I missing some check box I need to uncheck, or something else that I am not seeing. I already tried updating the driver and uninstalling it and reinstalling it, and I tried it with the touchpad disabled, but nothing has worked.

Jan 13, 2009I just got a HDX 9200 last week and all this time I've been fiddling with tweaking the original HP image, installing clean Vista OSes (like twenty times by now), trying different drivers, running drivers-update scammers (like DriverDetective, RadarSync, etc.) just to look at the newest version number of the drivers, then crawling the web to manually find and try them, and so, and so on.
Of course, in the need of having a clean Windows Vista installation (since the HP image has a lot of crap, slowdowns, outdated drivers, not SP1 slipstreamed, etc.) I had to start from scratch.
After installing the clean Vista setup and all the drivers, I found that the QuickLaunch buttons were given me problems. What happened is, at the end, that everyone of them works BUT the TV button. I'm running on the QuickLaunch Buttons drivers 6.40, also QuickTouch installed for OSD, and QuickPlay 3.7 (updated from CyberLink) and still, when touching the TV button, nothing happens. Not even a click is hear like with the others. The strangest thing is that, if I turn the computer on by pressing the TV button instead of the power, it boots... and then it opens the TV module in the QuickPlay app.! Just as it should!................

Jun 10, 2009if anyone has had the same problem as me with the HP HDX 16. Randomly, even as I am typing here, the volume bar (with treble, bass etc) will appear on screen and will increase/reduce very quickly as if im pushing down on the touch buttons, this stops me being able to type, sometimes crashing the computer.
At the same time, this fault also occurs for the wireless LAN button to the far right, which will randomly disable (turn red) as if i'd touched it, sometimes causing the desktop to crash but more importantly causing me to lose connection and have to reconnect on a frequent basis.
I've had the notebook for over 6 months, and while i did have this occur on very rare occasions, since a couple days ago it has increased to a point where it happens all the time, including after a restart. I have tried searching through google to see if the problem is known, and i have seen a similar account on a customer review website. I have used HP health check and followed the updates supplied including that for the touch smart buttons and a BIOS flash.

Apr 2, 2010I need to tunr off or remove my wifi touch button from my dv8t. I have spent the last month searching, removing, reinstalling, and skrewing with this laptop to get it off. nothing works. At the moment, my wifi turns itself on and off 28 time a minute on average.
I have already installed the keyboard driver that doesnt have the hp QLB on it. I have also removed the quick launch button drivers.... im at a loss now.

Sep 23, 2009I currently have a T8100 2.1 Ghz core 2 Duo mobile processor in my HP 9700t laptop and want to upgrade it to a T9500 2.6 Ghz CPU. My laptop will take this CPU.
Does anyone know how difficult it is to physically replace the CPU. I've built desktop computers and the cpu install is not an issue. Never done it on a laptop.

how the heck this could have been possible? not to mention that the quality is very very Low

Jan 15, 2009I tried a search and couldn't find the answer. Does anybody know why the size of the mini screen changed from 10.2 to 10.1, the resolution dropped slightly because of that too. I bought one in November with the 10.2 and they are sending a replacement with the 10.1, any reason to just keep the 10.2 and repair it.

Anyone know a way to change this, be it registry key changes, I dont really care what it takes, it just needs to go away.
