i have the new HP dv4 with i5 processor and i recently formatted the HD to do a clean install of win 7. i installed most of the drivers and they seem to work fine, however, i can't get that graphic splash animation to show whenever i adjust the volume, mute, or turn on/off the wireless quicklaunch buttons. where can i download the HP drivers or software for this? or how do i enable it if it already has it?
View 5 RepliesAfter some problems with software, I did a clean install of Vista Ultimate 64bit. I copied the Swsetup folder and used those drivers, downloaded some newer ones and some applications from official HP site.
It works all great, except the two QuickLaunch buttons: for Qmenu and WLAN. Nothing happens if I pressed them. They don't even blink! But the others work just fine - even the Fn keys.
I've tried reinstalling the QLB application and drivers for a dozen times with no change.
I just got a HDX 9200 last week and all this time I've been fiddling with tweaking the original HP image, installing clean Vista OSes (like twenty times by now), trying different drivers, running drivers-update scammers (like DriverDetective, RadarSync, etc.) just to look at the newest version number of the drivers, then crawling the web to manually find and try them, and so, and so on.
Of course, in the need of having a clean Windows Vista installation (since the HP image has a lot of crap, slowdowns, outdated drivers, not SP1 slipstreamed, etc.) I had to start from scratch.
After installing the clean Vista setup and all the drivers, I found that the QuickLaunch buttons were given me problems. What happened is, at the end, that everyone of them works BUT the TV button. I'm running on the QuickLaunch Buttons drivers 6.40, also QuickTouch installed for OSD, and QuickPlay 3.7 (updated from CyberLink) and still, when touching the TV button, nothing happens. Not even a click is hear like with the others. The strangest thing is that, if I turn the computer on by pressing the TV button instead of the power, it boots... and then it opens the TV module in the QuickPlay app.! Just as it should!................
i just received this brand new and when i press the volume up and down quicklaunch buttons .. the volume does go up and down but there is no onscreen notification of this ... if i scroll mouse over to the bell on the taskbar i do see that the volume numbers did increase or decrese...so i know the buttons are working ... even when i press the mute button.. i see the icon show that it is muted...
should this tablet have an onscreen popup notifcation when u raise and lower the volume...?
i contacted HP and they told me to do a system restore... after i tried to update my quicklaunch application and it still had no effect...
i want to make sure something is wrong with my tablet before i perform this system recovery...
I own this dv2-1122ax for 2 months and I have this random issue where my screen will freeze for 5-10secs, followed by a black screen and recover to the initial screen.
There's a bubble message saying "Display driver atikmdag stopped responding and has successfully recovered" error
This issue happens in windows environment. While web browsing, watching videos, going through menus or exploring through "My Computer"
It happens with factory vista image and even in windows 7 (upgrade/fresh) with factory drivers, updated drivers from hp.com after driver sweeper from guru3d.
I even tried the 9.9 ati mobility driver and the latest ati drivers with mobility mod tool.
Is this a hardware fault or driver incompatibility?
Right now, the notebook is with hp service centre and I just got a text message from hp saying "the part for your unit is currently on part hold"
When I power on my laptop, blue dots or blue lines appears on the screen. As soon windows vista boot screen comes, a multi color screen appears and it stays there until i restart. I have did all the troubleshooting such as memory modules replacement, factory restore, system recovery etc. but couldnt able to solve the issue.
When I go into safemode and remove the nvidia drivers, system starts working in 16bit color mode. I have installed several graphic drivers but then again multi color screen appears on windows boot screen.
As per my local repair shop, its an issue with integreated graphic chip and he can fix it by replacing it with another graphic chip. therefore no need to replace the board.
Is it possible to replace the chip?
if i can add a Graphic card( probably an 8800) on my HP HDX 18t( model= X18-1175EE).I know that the general answer is no, however, lately i ve been hearing that you can actually add one if u have an expansion slot( i think mine is level 3).

View 4 Replies View RelatedI purchased an HP G70T directly from hp.com for my husband. I forgot to add the dedicated NVIDIA 256mb graphic card to my order. He's has the notebook for about a week now, and we're looking to see about getting the graphic card added to the notebook. I have contacted hp.com, but I'm getting conflicting answers. One technical support person emailed to say that a graphic card cannot be added after purchase. Another emailed me the link to the HP Parts Store, saying that I could purchase the graphic card there.
So, which is it? Can a dedicated graphic card be added to the HP G70T? Or would I have to send the laptop back as a return/exchange in order to get a G70T *with* the dedicated graphic card?

Can increase anything on my laptop to play this game faster?
I recently purchased an HP Pavilion DV4-1220us, and right off the bat, I noticed strange problems when playing games. After a while, things get distorted and pixelated. So, I downloaded HWMonitor, and I noticed that the higher the temps get, the worse the graphical problems become.
I found this website, and went to undervolt my CPU. Long story short, the stock voltages were 1.125 V, which seemed weird to me. I was able to undervolt it by quite a lot and still not have it BSOD. Under a full load from ORTHOS, I saw a reduction from 90C down to 80C, but when I play games, I don't get that much of a decrease. Before, when gaming it would hover around 80C, and now it hovers around 75C. That's still a pretty decent decrease, but the graphical glitches continue to happen, albeit a bit less noticeably.
I opened up CPU-Z, and I noticed that whether it's undervolted or not, the voltage keeps switching back and forth between what it's set at, and 1.20 V. I've heard from a few other users that they've seen this as well.
Could this voltage fluctuation have anything to do with the graphical glitches?
Has anyone else with my GPU experienced the same problems?
I currently own a HDX9494nr, and my touchpad and buttons are not working. I don't want to send it back, as this is my main computer, and I depend on it for work and leisure. Any suggestions for me? Maybe something I can fix, instead of shipping it back to HP and having no computer for two weeks? BTW, the cursor moves, but it dosen't respond when i tap it to open links or programs.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI got my wife an HP DV2 for Mother's Day. She was extremely excited because she has needed a new laptop for quite some time. Anyway, we opened it and started to boot it up everything was looking good. I then happened to glance down at the mouse buttons and noticed that the left button looks as if it was pressed. There is definitely a gap when running your finger across the buttons. When pressing the right mouse button, it moves down as far as the left button sits while unpressed.
Now, I should clarify that the left button still works, it is just sitting lower than it seems like it should. I just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this with their "brand new out of the box" HP DV2. My wife and I were both extremely bummed out, only because I equate it to buying a brand new car and noticing that the headlight is pressed in a little it and is uneven. Are we being too picky? To us, it seems ridiculous that a $700 laptop would have a quality issue like this.

Just buy, the video card did not work ... was a hardware problem ... HP came to seek the ... did little more than 10 days ... HP has returned to me the laptop ... and now everything works perfectly, minus the touch volume controls... the play, stop, and other ... activating and deactivating the wireless network...
If turns the volume on the taskbar touch control changes color ... that works, but fingers (touching it) does not work ...

i installed the newest drivers from hp (6.50.9.1), didn't help. uninstalled them, installed 6.50.7.1, didn't work.
that and i've been getting that system sound you get from plugging in or unplugging a USB-device, even though i'm not doing that (know what i'm referring to?)

It came with vista installed and when i pressed the volume buttons on top of the keyboard a gray bar used to come indicating the volume...but when i installed Windows 7 the gray bar is not coming....even though the buttons function properly(that is volume goes up and down) (pressing the volume touch button increases the volume, but does not display the volume slider window on the screen)

View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought a HP dv4 1242TX in may 2009. Except for the heating problem, it was working okay till last week. The quick launch buttons (qlb) have gone berserk. The volume reaches the maximum level and stays there even on reducing it through or manually. It temporarily goes down and as soon I remove my finger from the qlb, the volume goes to maximum level. I have downloaded and installed the latest driver for qlb's but the problem persists. Due to this, the other qlb's for wlan, quick play, play stop etc are not working. I do not know what seems to be the problem and my warranty period also got over.

Am I missing some check box I need to uncheck, or something else that I am not seeing. I already tried updating the driver and uninstalling it and reinstalling it, and I tried it with the touchpad disabled, but nothing has worked.
I have been using HP Business laptops for a couple of years. In all my laptops after a year or so the rubber buttons wear off/tear. Is it possible to somehow replace the rubber without changing the touchpad.

I've got an Inspiron 9400 with the pathetic ATI x1400 living inside of it. I got a price from dell to upgrade to the GeForce 7900 for about 400$ Aussie dollars. My dilemma is that with DX10 coming along quite quickly etc...will i be pissing my money up against the wall by buying this card or should wait to get DX10 compatible card. Also the obvious..... what DX10 cards fit the Inspirion 9400's ?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have recently acquired an Acer 7220G notebook. Every morning when I switch it on it freezes on the acer splashscreen. I then reboot and it will always load up on the second go.
I have tried switching it off during the day and on again but is always ok. The problem only occurs when the power has been off for a number of hours. It is getting incredibly frustrating have to startup twice each morning.
My laptop froze and I was unable to do anything so I forced shutdown on it, I rebooted it and I noticed I was on the boot screen for a long period of time (about 10 min).

Ive got a two year old latitude D630 that is shutting down right after the Dell splash screen. pressing down on the left side of the laptop while its booting up and that worked to the point where I got to the login screen, but after a few seconds, it just shut down again.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought a new X1 Carbon (20A7) a week ago and from time to time the laptop gets stuck on the ThinkPad splash screen when booting. I have to hold the power button to turn it off and then it boots fine. My brother has this problem with T540p, although this happens to him a LOT more often (also, if he waits patiently for 10-20 minutes, the system boots eventually, I havent tried that on my X1).
It doesn't matter if the AC is connected, whether there is something connected to USB ports, whether it was a restart or just normal boot, there is no pattern that I can see, this seems random. We tried updating the BIOS to the newest version, our USB ports are not bent or anything, the SSD with the OS is set as the first boot device. This still happens. I see there are more people with thinkpads who have the similar problem, but their solutions do not apply (if there were any).
I have an Acer 8930G, it's knocking on some years (approx 7ish) and this is the first problem I have had with it. When i turn it on, the normal Acer screen shows up and then where it would normally load to windows it just blacks out. There is still power as the all the lights are still working and there is a white-ish light which looks inside the base of the screen. I have looked around on the web and have tried the flashlight on the screen and also removing battery / power cable and holding down the power button for a minute and rebuilding and trying again, but to no avail. I am able to get onto the BIOS screen, and it did look like the boot device in position 1 was the BD drive, I moved this back to the hard drive but still the same....
