Apr 2, 2010I need to tunr off or remove my wifi touch button from my dv8t. I have spent the last month searching, removing, reinstalling, and skrewing with this laptop to get it off. nothing works. At the moment, my wifi turns itself on and off 28 time a minute on average.
I have already installed the keyboard driver that doesnt have the hp QLB on it. I have also removed the quick launch button drivers.... im at a loss now.

Jun 5, 2013I have an HP EliteBook 8570w, which I must say is the most awesome mobile workstation EVER. The touchpad BUTTONS - specifically the ones above the touchpad - how can I disable them? I have large hands and find myself accidentaly hitting the buttons, resulting in losing entire paragraphs of text or launching programs I didn't intend to launch.

Aug 15, 2009I have an HP Compaq 8510p, T7300, running Windows XP Pro. In the last day or so I noticed that pressing the fn+Fx key combos to dim or brighten the screen are no longer working. Nor is the battery status key combo. Volume and mute seem fine. Wireless is fine. The "Info" and "Presentation" keys as well as the sleep combo all appear to be working as usual. But the 3 mentioned above have stopped working. Has anyone had this issue or have any idea what the problem might be?

Dec 11, 2009My battery died a few months ago on my nc8430. It's not an oem batter, but was a third the price. When running on the battery power, the computer is very slow. I have to have NHC on MAX Performance to watch youtube @ low res, or even type without lag. Even with this there is lag on the system. With NHC set to Max Battery, the computer is nearly unusable. Now I've been using the computer for a while, at Max Battery, and AC power, with now problems. And if i plug in the power cable, but change nothing, the system runs at normal speed.
Can a battery cause this type of behavior? Should I return it?

Feb 5, 2013When i bought N7110 when i pressed the fn + sound up/down button(f11/f12) a little box would come up showing me what my current sound level is and dissapear after 3 secs or so. But doesn't happen anymore. The buttons still change the sound but the box doesn't show up. This happens with all of the fn functions like f2(wireless settings), mute button, f4 f5 (brightness), f3(touchpad on off). They all work but they dont show up. So if i want to close bluetooth i need to do it blindly by pressing f2 + fn a few times to finally get it.

May 10, 2009I got my wife an HP DV2 for Mother's Day. She was extremely excited because she has needed a new laptop for quite some time. Anyway, we opened it and started to boot it up everything was looking good. I then happened to glance down at the mouse buttons and noticed that the left button looks as if it was pressed. There is definitely a gap when running your finger across the buttons. When pressing the right mouse button, it moves down as far as the left button sits while unpressed.
Now, I should clarify that the left button still works, it is just sitting lower than it seems like it should. I just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this with their "brand new out of the box" HP DV2. My wife and I were both extremely bummed out, only because I equate it to buying a brand new car and noticing that the headlight is pressed in a little it and is uneven. Are we being too picky? To us, it seems ridiculous that a $700 laptop would have a quality issue like this.
I'm attaching a couple pictures showing the issue - in one, you can see me pressing the right button down to the level of the left unpressed button.

Just buy, the video card did not work ... was a hardware problem ... HP came to seek the ... did little more than 10 days ... HP has returned to me the laptop ... and now everything works perfectly, minus the touch volume controls... the play, stop, and other ... activating and deactivating the wireless network...
If turns the volume on the taskbar touch control changes color ... that works, but fingers (touching it) does not work ...
Deploying the volume bar in the taskbar and click on the volume control Touch ... volume bar is moved a few millimeters, but always returns to the same place
HP has changed my motherboard for the problem of video ... if I remember that before the touch controls worked lead to perfection ...

It came with vista installed and when i pressed the volume buttons on top of the keyboard a gray bar used to come indicating the volume...but when i installed Windows 7 the gray bar is not coming....even though the buttons function properly(that is volume goes up and down) (pressing the volume touch button increases the volume, but does not display the volume slider window on the screen)

May 29, 2010I bought a HP dv4 1242TX in may 2009. Except for the heating problem, it was working okay till last week. The quick launch buttons (qlb) have gone berserk. The volume reaches the maximum level and stays there even on reducing it through or manually. It temporarily goes down and as soon I remove my finger from the qlb, the volume goes to maximum level. I have downloaded and installed the latest driver for qlb's but the problem persists. Due to this, the other qlb's for wlan, quick play, play stop etc are not working. I do not know what seems to be the problem and my warranty period also got over.

I had the battery care activated and now it does not charge over 80%.
Do you know how can I solve this without having to use the system full restore which is a real burden.

Feb 15, 2009if anyone has had sound issues with their DV5? I have the current bios F13 and have un-installed and reinstalled sound drivers and such. What is happening is the sound will randomly make a static boom noise and then go away and then do it again.. i have checked my external speaks and have even replaced them thinking it was them.. it is not since it is happening with my onboard speakers as well. So this static boom sound is a constant annoyance along with music sounding rather off/staticy..

Mar 7, 2009After some problems with software, I did a clean install of Vista Ultimate 64bit. I copied the Swsetup folder and used those drivers, downloaded some newer ones and some applications from official HP site.
It works all great, except the two QuickLaunch buttons: for Qmenu and WLAN. Nothing happens if I pressed them. They don't even blink! But the others work just fine - even the Fn keys.
I've tried reinstalling the QLB application and drivers for a dozen times with no change.

Apr 8, 2010I want to be able to scroll with my pointing stick using the pointing stick middle button, but no matter what I set it at with the synaptics software it will only perform the action which the touchpad middle button is set at.
Am I missing some check box I need to uncheck, or something else that I am not seeing. I already tried updating the driver and uninstalling it and reinstalling it, and I tried it with the touchpad disabled, but nothing has worked.

Lenovo X Series ThinkPad :: X61s Can't Seem To Get Battery Maintenance Functions
Jun 18, 2014I realize my beloved Thinkpad is pretty much an antique, but I've been struggling with the Lenovo power manager utility after a fresh install of Win 7 Home Premium.it seems like the Lenovo PM and the native Win 7 power management can have conflicting values for similar settings (like low and critical battery levels, for instance).
But mainly, I can't seem to get the battery maintenance functions in the Lenovo PM to do anything. If I tell it to manage charge level for maximum life, the battery charges to 100% and just stays there. If I use the laptop on battery and put it back on charge, same thing -- it just charges to 100% and stays there.
Also, the battery reset function doesn't seem to do anything either. It's kind of hard to tell if it's even running. What seems to happen is that I'll go through the steps, and the large button slowly flashes. Does that mean it's running? But in any case, nothing happens. The battery just sits there fully charged.

Dec 21, 2013Every time I open one of the Lenovo apps like like Support or Companion, I get the message "Enhanced functions for this application are available". I click the message, a browser opens up, I download "dependecypackage.exe", I install, setup asks for a restart and I let it, and the process repeats again and again. I keep getting this "Enhanced functions..." message. It is driving me crazy. How do I end this cycle?

HP/Compaq :: QuickLaunch Buttons Work In A Clean Windows Installation
Jan 13, 2009I just got a HDX 9200 last week and all this time I've been fiddling with tweaking the original HP image, installing clean Vista OSes (like twenty times by now), trying different drivers, running drivers-update scammers (like DriverDetective, RadarSync, etc.) just to look at the newest version number of the drivers, then crawling the web to manually find and try them, and so, and so on.
Of course, in the need of having a clean Windows Vista installation (since the HP image has a lot of crap, slowdowns, outdated drivers, not SP1 slipstreamed, etc.) I had to start from scratch.
After installing the clean Vista setup and all the drivers, I found that the QuickLaunch buttons were given me problems. What happened is, at the end, that everyone of them works BUT the TV button. I'm running on the QuickLaunch Buttons drivers 6.40, also QuickTouch installed for OSD, and QuickPlay 3.7 (updated from CyberLink) and still, when touching the TV button, nothing happens. Not even a click is hear like with the others. The strangest thing is that, if I turn the computer on by pressing the TV button instead of the power, it boots... and then it opens the TV module in the QuickPlay app.! Just as it should!................
