Acer Aspire ES1-512 :: Cannot Start Recovery Console To Make Recovery Media
Feb 18, 2015ive just finished setting up my new acer ES1-512, And was about to make my recovery media through the acer console in windows 8.1, and the program will not open ? i get to the part where it wants me to allow the program to make changes, but then nothing happens ? i have tried going to the file location its self to to start the program but this makes no difference, ive looked all over acers site to see if i can re-download the console but have found nothing?

Mar 14, 2013I purchased a HP Pavilion g6-2320tx Notebook PC two weeks back. I was not able to make a recovery discs. On closer look I was surprised to know that it had six primary partitions, including two recovery drives. While making recovery discs, it (Hard Disk) crashed. My Hard Disk is replaced within 15 days of purchase. Now I am waiting for Operating Softwares Disc from HP. I just wanted to know that can I get a Recovery Drive as we get it at the time of purchase (Factory Reset).

Jul 28, 2007I purchased my M1210 in late December and got it configured so that I could switch to Vista if I wanted. I got MCE on it and I think the configs for Vista. Here's my dilemma: I don't whether to switch to Vista or not. I got the free upgrade CD that Dell sent me. I have read, though, some really bad reviews of Vista. Is that b/c some systems don't have the right configs? Should I switch? I'm heading off to college in less than a month. What should I do? The college recommends either Windows XP Prof. or Windows Vista Ultimate (oh yea, why ultimate? isn't that overdoing it? i thought at first it was but then the dell college website also recommends ultimate. why is that?). Would my system be ready for ultimate? The upgrade I got is for Home Premium. They recommend I get ultimate but, unless there's something I'm not seeing, I think Home Premium will suffice. But should I switch or stay with XP? If you do think I should switch, is there some guide online somewhere that can guide me through it (ie. which drivers to backup, etc.)
Here are my specs:Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7200 (2GHz/667MHz/4MB), 2GB, DDR2, 667MHz 2 Dimm, 256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 TurboCache, 160GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive XPS 1210
One more thing (sorry for the long post): what do you think about securing my 1210? Should I use an actual lock or would software like LoJack be enough?
HP/Compaq :: HP Dv5 (Vista) System Recovery After Windows 7
Feb 2, 2009I'm currently using an HP Pavilion dv5-1140 (the white/lime green special edition). It shipped with Vista Home Premium.
I've recently installed Windows 7 to have a quick look at 'what's next', planning on using HP's System Recovery partition (triggered by pressing F11 at startup) to reimage later.
I've been trying to trigger the System Recovery tool at startup (with F11), but it's no longer working properly - the computer 'thinks' for a second and then starts booting into Windows 7.
I'm afraid after using tens of Pavilions in the past two years (I'm a journo), I've got into the lazy habit of using this recovery partition to reimage, not burnt DVDs.
Is there anyway I can get the computer to load the HP Recovery tool now? I'm not looking to recover data - just reimage with Vista HP.
Dell :: How To Make A Recovery Disk?
Mar 18, 2009I just got a new XPS 1530 with Vista Home Premium 64 bit. I'm told, before I do anything, I should make a Recovery Disk. How do you do that?
I think the recovery disk is used in case everything crashes.
It's different from a Boot disk (which isn't needed anymore, since you can use the OS installation disk to start Vista if needed).
Also, I'm not talking about System Restore, which reloads your system from a time before your last SW install.

Oct 6, 2009I installed XP on my laptop which essentially deleted all the old HP software. And now I want to go back to Vista. Since theres no program to do it, I'm kind of lost. However I see the HP recovery hard drive still. Is there still a way to revert back to Vista or would I need to get a copy of Vista and install it from there?

Hp Pavilion Dv6 - vista 32bit
1)Have a new mobo on its way,4650 GPU mobo,taking out a 4530 GPU mobo.
As i understand i install the mobo and reboot using the F11 key which will hopefully have the system recognise the new mobo ok & install vista 32 all back to system default OR let me create recovery disc's with the new mobo "tattoo" recognised to do the same.
Correct or not?
2) The FREE upgrade to Win7 cost's $39 to ship to South Africa + waiting time so i'm probably just going to buy a retail copy of Win 7 and install the 64bit version.
Installing that will no doubt reformat the HD removing whatever HP has put there so before i do that should i collect what win7 drivers i can and drop them on a usb drive prior or do you think win7 will be able to load enough drivers to allow me to download drivers once its installed?
3)Is there any things HP have got hidden on the HD that reformatting is going to cause an issue with?
I guessing the recovery partion will get wiped.

I've not got a recovery disc & laptop didn't come with 1 either. F11 option doesn't work however F8 allows me to access the Advanced Boot Options however there is no repair your computer or system recovery option on the menu.Also there is no recovery manager when searching at the start menu.System restore option doesn't seem to be much supportive as the date available only seems to be in the last few days.Am I wasting my time trying to factory restore or is it time to finally upgrade my once trusty & reliable laptop?Â

Jul 25, 2009I bought a new MacBook Pro and am going to give my folks my 2 year old HP dv6500t. I backed up all my stuff and using the System Recovery DVDs from HP wiped out and reformatted the drive.
Unfortunately now when I try to turn on the system I get a message about there being an error in c:windowspantherunattend.xml at line 6 column 169 (I think) and it can't process the answer file.
I tried to boot into safe mode to see if I could see what is in the unattend.xml file and of course Windows Install can't run in Safe Mode.
Is there any way I can get the dv6500 to be useable again?
Acer :: Aspire 5536G Can't Make Recovery Disks
Jul 1, 2009I just purchased this model from my local Best Buy, and after having valiantly turned down their $150 set-up fee, I decided to try my hand at making the recover disks myself. Obviously, I failed miserably.
Here's my problem: using the eRecovery program on the laptop, I've tried burning a default factory disk using several types of CD's and DVD's but each time, the program rejects my disks and asks for a blank one. The error code that comes up is Error 0x205.
I've looked at the Acer Europe website, but I have not come to any conclusion as to how to fix this problem. My software seems to be up to date but could it be a faulty optical drive?

Jul 21, 2014I've just encountered error 1002 while using recovery... Recovery successfully went through reformattng my drive but crashed before reinstaling the original content. It doesn't matter if I try recovering from hard driver nor dvd rom, it all results in error 1002. I've done some searching and it seems it's quite common error in hp products without proper solution. I feel I'm out of luck as my warranty expired years ago.. How can I resolve this issue? For me it seems that recovery content orginally placed on my hard drive (and later burned on the DVD by me) had been damaged.
- to order another recovery disks set (though I saw few opinions it didn't work)
- buy new "Windows" and install a new fresh installation (will I be able to perform new installation at all?)
Acer :: Backup/Factory Recovery Make Your Own Factory Image?
Jan 12, 2009I have been given an Acer 6930G by a family member to setup. After realising there's 0 discs included with the laptop, the Acer pop up message tells me I have to make my own factory default image. I have successfully made it on 2 DVDs, my question is now in the manual there is nothing about how to use it, I was wondering if anyone can share any insight to me as to how it works.
Basically I know it is probably a bootable DVD as the root of the DVD suggests (several "BOOT" files) I was wondering how it actually looks like? I haven't tested it yet as the user was extremely desperate to get it running so I had to give it up the moment the DVDs were made.
If I put the DVD in and select to boot from it at start up (before getting into windows) does it take me to some sort of custom screen where I can SELECT that I want to reformat and restore the laptop? I want to know what options I am given and I can only assume that it's the same for most laptops.
And I can only assume again, that if I factory restore it, it will come back with Vista activated and all the initial bloatware again, along with all the drivers for it (so I don't need to go track them down).
This is all I need to know, I wish I can test it but I can't even get the laptop back now (until it breaks ...)
If someone can post their experiences with it I will be grateful, this is just more for reassurance than anything, and confirm my assumptions? Many thanks in advance!
EDIT: I have discovered that I can launch that recovery app by pushing ALT+F10, I have managed to wrangle the laptop temporarily to test and have discovered that I can choose from 2 back up options, but I dare not go any further, can someone tell me the next steps? One says factory default, and the other is user's backup.
I can guess that if I choose the first option, factory default, it'll ask for the DVDs I have created? And the 2nd option will restore a backup I made selecting the user option on the recovery app.

Dec 11, 2009My battery died a few months ago on my nc8430. It's not an oem batter, but was a third the price. When running on the battery power, the computer is very slow. I have to have NHC on MAX Performance to watch youtube @ low res, or even type without lag. Even with this there is lag on the system. With NHC set to Max Battery, the computer is nearly unusable. Now I've been using the computer for a while, at Max Battery, and AC power, with now problems. And if i plug in the power cable, but change nothing, the system runs at normal speed.
Can a battery cause this type of behavior? Should I return it?

Feb 15, 2009if anyone has had sound issues with their DV5? I have the current bios F13 and have un-installed and reinstalled sound drivers and such. What is happening is the sound will randomly make a static boom noise and then go away and then do it again.. i have checked my external speaks and have even replaced them thinking it was them.. it is not since it is happening with my onboard speakers as well. So this static boom sound is a constant annoyance along with music sounding rather off/staticy..

Aug 30, 2009I’ve just done a clean install of my Dell Vostro -- reinstalling vista and removing the recovery partition in the process. Outcome = a ‘cleaner’ machine with none of the preinstalled bloatware/c**p from Dell. (first time I’ve done anything like this, but followed a brill guide in the Dell section of this forum ).
I’m about to tackle my Mums Compaq Presario C310EA. The aim is to remove all the rubbish she has accumulated over the years, incl any spyware/ adware she may have, and generally have a bit of a clean sweep…. hopefully resulting in a faster laptop. I’m backing up her data, and moving some of my Dad’s stuff somewhere else.
Basically I want to clean up as much as poss, but unfortunately she has no xp disk, just the recovery disks (cds) she burned when she first got the laptop.
As she has no xp disk I guess the best I can hope for is to reset the laptop to the factory settings (?) .. not ideal, but I don’t think the (factory set) bloatware is too much of an issue for her – she’s not a heavy user.
Should I use the recovery partition for this, or do I need to use the cds she burned? .
I’d like to know the best approach – and can’t seem to find a set of instructions to follow.
