View 8 RepliesI've just bought a CW model and I've now uninstalled all bloatware and Sony software. But to my surprise I can not dim the display by using the Fn + F5/F6 buttons or see the OSD when I adjust the volume up or down, Which software needs to installed to control this?
View 4 Replies View Relatedi purchased laptop vaio vgn-c36mj and the original windows "x64"freezes and i had to format and i downloaded vista x32 and it worked fine but the problem is the touch buttoms aren't working
note:i downloaded all the drivers for x32 from the site and still they don't work and i checked device manager and found nothing not installed and b4 my format there were cool wallpapers vaio and some applications i don't remember from vaio but didn't find them on the site
after I put the parts back in, most of the keys on keyboard, touch pad, the sexy green light, the led light on the upper part don't work!
The graphic switch still work, the vaio, assist, special and disc reject button still work. Some of the keys still work like "w p s z '" and space bar
The left, right, down arrow work, up arrow doesn't work
Can't adjust the screen brightness even in the power option.
The fingerprint work.
I have not had good luck with my SZ series notebooks in that the first one stopped responding to touch properly, and this one the left button needs quite firm presses to work correctly.
Is it possible to replace or fix just that one component or is it an assembly including the right button and the trackpad as well? Does anyone know the part number and where I might be able to find it along with a guide for replacing it?
I've looked through the add/remove programs and can't find it. Right-clicking on it does nothing.
It seems to me that it is IMPOSSIBLE to remove this annoying bundled software. Please help! If you know how to delete/disable this please let me know
I have a generally very nice install of Win7 Ultimate on a new SSD. But I can't control the screen backlighting or use the volume buttons. Other things I don't have that I could do without, but would be nice are the AV buttons. Not sure how well the stock Window power management is. I've tried loading a mess of the drivers from the TX850P/B Vista drivers page. There is a thread saying this the drivers work, but the drivers linked to in that thread to not match what is being discussed? Windows 7 Installation for Sony Vaio TX Series with ALL Sony Functions
The drivers from here: [url] install, but don't seem to do anything.
i am running windows 7, with my FZ38m one thing dont know how to get the FN buttons working to brighten the lcd etc..
also do you need a special driver for the lcd panel? its currently showing as a generic pnp one.
I just got my new SR420 and I did a clean install however my buttons for the mode and settings etc at the top (external) aren't working. Anyone know which drivers or programs control that function,

Not much progress to report at this time, but I'm hoping to work out a solution in this thread. Contributions are appreciated.

SpecialButtonSetting.dll

I took the files from my Z591 and replaced the ones on the Z11. There are two S button option dialogs now, but you can't change their setting.

View 9 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to preserve finish of the Sony Vaio FW, particularly on the mouse buttons and where the palm-rest is, I hear the silver stippled paint finish wears away leaving bare white plastic underneath.
Is there a skin or plastic screen cover that you guys use or recommend to prevent this or hide defects?
I recently picked up this bad boy for just $744 (after 12.3% bing cashback (Google it if you don't know what it is)).

Has anyone heard any other issues with this laptop?
It has the 1600x900 screen which I've heard some criticism of (I heard something about it having a one-lamp "eco" screen) but I don't know if that applies to the model I bought or how good the eco screen is.
If I can get a skin that is precut for that laptop's dimensions in particular (nothing fancy, just black would be good), that would be awesome.
I'm considering this skin, but it's not precut, and I don't know how good it is...

I opened up iTunes today and while you are inside it, the touch buttons at the top of the Studio XPS 16 work fine but if you are in firefox, desktop or anywhere else they do not seem to control the music at all? Is there a way to fix this?

View 3 Replies View Relatedwhy they stopped working they just did, my pg up and down button. when i press them they just go up but come back down again. Yesterday i accidently pressed the F7 button & this window popped up saying that the mode of the cursor had been changed..i don't know if that has anything to do with it but after i pressed f7 the page up and down buttons stopped working correctly...
View 4 Replies View RelatedI can still change the volume, but that little graphic that pops up when you turn it up/down is no longer there, making it hard for me to see what the volume is.
Second, and more importantly, the "eject" button no longer works. I have to manually goto the disk drive, right click, and click eject............
I woke up this morning and there is no light under the function buttons! The buttons work when I press them but don't light up at all. Is there a setting to turn it on an off or is it broken?
View 4 Replies View Relatedis there a way to get them to do the exact opposite...instead of being off and lighting up when you touch can they be lit up and then go dark when you touch?....what would be really nice is if you could make them light up when you light your keyboard up and not light up when your keyboard isnt lit....

View 6 Replies View RelatedI got my new 1810T and after opening it up, the first thing I noticed was that the touchpad buttons are not even.
By "even" I mean they're not level with each other. The left button sits a little higher on its right side and the right button sits lower on its left side.
Anyone else experience this? Is this something that has a simple fix like the double-sided tape for the mushy keyboard?
Also, I went into the device manager, opened up the monitor properties and when I choose "Hardware Ids" it shows this:
MONITORCMO1100

how can I set up my Acer's 8730 ( or any other Acer ) multimedia buttons so I can use them with the Cyberlink PowerDVD 9 ? They only seem to work with Windows Player...
View 4 Replies View RelatedI start the laptop.. the lights turn on.. windows loads up.. i press one of the media buttons... it lights up.. stays lit up and stays like that without doing what its suppose to..
View 3 Replies View RelatedI remember reading a thread similar to this a while back but am unable to find it. The fellow had his laptop replaced several times due to the media buttons being too dim when pressed.
I am having the same problem. How bright are your media buttons when you press them? I can barely see them unless I'm right on top of them purposely trying to see what I've pressed.
Is there any way to adjust the brightness of these or am I out of luck? I'm not really in the mood to have the laptop replaced as university classes are about to start back up and I can't be without it.

Touch pad buttons are stuck/fused together
Well, let me explain. When I press the left button, it detects that BOTH buttons are pressed. And when I press the right button, it detects that BOTH buttons are pressed.
I temporarily got around this by going into the Dell touchpad software and setting the "Both Buttons" to "Click.
I recently restored my XPS to it's factory image and am in the process of removing all of the odd bits-and-ends that came packaged in the computer.
However, I am unable to remove this blue icon that pops up whenever I use the surface touch-buttons which control the volume, and a similar icon pops up whenever I use the wireless networking on/off button.
A picture of what I'm talking about can be found at: http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/7...mapimagemx.png .....
the left button on the touchpad is playing up. When I click the left button the diagram of the left button on the little Dell Touchpad icon in the system tray lights up as if it's being pressed when it actually isn't. So it basically makes it impossible to use the touchpad because it then acts as if I'm holding down left click so it highlights everything. It's a real pain in the butt! The right clicker works fine.
Physically there isn't anything wrong with the button and it isn't sticking or anything like that. I tried reinstalling the drivers and it was ok for about 10 minutes and then just did the same thing.
I've had my Dell Studio 15 (1535) for nearly a year now, problem free. But last night, my touchpad moving extremely choppy,
and my CPU/RAM meters (on Vista) were at nearly 50%, sometimes even spiking higher; I've never seen them that high before.
Here's what was going on when it happened. I was using Facebook Chat, which I don't believe was the problem, but what I believe started it was when i tried to turn up the volume using the touch sensitive media keys at the top, and hit play on iTunes. When i went to turn the volume up,
it froze for about 30 seconds, and then turned the volume all the way up, and now none of my media keys work, my keyboard barely works, and my touchpad/mouse buttons don't work at all!
I have been trying to resolve this problem for the past 5 hours and am having no luck. I have an Acer Aspire 4710Z laptop and the touchpad left and right buttons will not work.
To select anything I have to tap the pad,I've tried to re-install drivers but to no avail.
