i am running windows 7, with my FZ38m one thing dont know how to get the FN buttons working to brighten the lcd etc..
also do you need a special driver for the lcd panel? its currently showing as a generic pnp one.

I have a Sony VGN-FZ38M (originnaly bought with vista) and I have installed windows 7 64bits
My graphics card is a NVIDIA 8400M GT, and I've tested a lot of drivers for this model but no one works. tried both drivers on sony [url] webiste but always same issue : "your system is not supported..."
i purchased laptop vaio vgn-c36mj and the original windows "x64"freezes and i had to format and i downloaded vista x32 and it worked fine but the problem is the touch buttoms aren't working
note:i downloaded all the drivers for x32 from the site and still they don't work and i checked device manager and found nothing not installed and b4 my format there were cool wallpapers vaio and some applications i don't remember from vaio but didn't find them on the site
I've temporarly got (before i decide wether to buy it or not) a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ38M laptop 2nd hand off a friend of mine.
The laptop was origionally infected with a trojan which has left the OS for dust. so i cant really get into the actual Vista install (apart from the odd time) without going into Safe-Mode.
Ive noticed some problems...
The BluRay Drive that's in the laptop seems to have a dislike for certain media. so far ive tested a range of media and this is what ive got:

I own a sony vgn-fz38m that always have been a trouble machine so long as i have had it.
I have tryed fixx an recovery disk but the computer never allowed me to do that. Several friends tryed to help me without succes. 2 weeks before christmas the harddrive crashed so i turned the comp in for repair. 4 weeks later i got back the computer. It works good except 1 thing. The SD card reader dont work. I suspect i need somekind of a driver to get it to work so i tryed to find it on sonys webpage without succes.
I just got my new SR420 and I did a clean install however my buttons for the mode and settings etc at the top (external) aren't working. Anyone know which drivers or programs control that function,

why they stopped working they just did, my pg up and down button. when i press them they just go up but come back down again. Yesterday i accidently pressed the F7 button & this window popped up saying that the mode of the cursor had been changed..i don't know if that has anything to do with it but after i pressed f7 the page up and down buttons stopped working correctly...

The centre configurable button is now working but although the other two recognise when they are touched they still do not work.

Only Fn+space work.
I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 and why this doesn't work.
After some problems with software, I did a clean install of Vista Ultimate 64bit. I copied the Swsetup folder and used those drivers, downloaded some newer ones and some applications from official HP site.
It works all great, except the two QuickLaunch buttons: for Qmenu and WLAN. Nothing happens if I pressed them. They don't even blink! But the others work just fine - even the Fn keys.
I've tried reinstalling the QLB application and drivers for a dozen times with no change.
the two buttons to control brightness worked fine before I uninstalled the default graphics driver. Now, when I press it I still get the GUI slider, but the brightness does not change. My brightness can be changed fine in the windows power settings. I have reinstalled the same thing I uninstalled, reinstalled Energy Manager, and still it does not work.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe touch sensitive media buttons above the keyboard on my Studio XPS 1647 stopped working the other day. When I tried to turn my laptop back on the computer beeped a few times and the screen flashed a few solid colors and then went black. I had to turn the laptop off and on again and it booted as normal except the media buttons stopped working. They do not light up or respond to touch.
I have restarted the laptop, updated the Dell QuickSet drivers and the BIOS and nothing has fixed it. According to this post the media buttons need to be replaced. How can I do that and where can I buy the parts needed?
1 more solution: try to downgrade the BIOS to 1.01

Because i am in Europe now,the warnity does not cover. Also the ultranav buttons don't work. With external mouse it works.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy touchpad doesn't work but the buttons are working fine. It also clicks randomly (not with the left or right mouse buttons) so I have to disable it. I have installed the latest version of the Synaptic driver and the problem still persists. I think only the touchpad is having a problem because when I use a wireless mouse, it works fine.

In my current power management settings, the W540 is suppose to enter sleep mode by pressing Fn4 or by pressing the round power button shortly. However, either one of these methods do not work.
My computer does enter sleep mode when usign the Windows start menu (Start->Shut Down -> Sleep).
I recently bought a Lenovo G505s about a month ago. Everything is fine with it until i downloaded Steam and downloaded some games. 3 of the games i downloaded are shooters and therefore require the left mouse button. But when i click it to shoot, it doesn't respond sometimes and is very laggy. This is not the fault of the game as i tried it in different ones but the problem is still there. i tried to switch round the buttons (so that the right button is to shoot and the left to aim) and it works fine...

Also the buttons and trackpad work completely fine with everything else except games including Minecraft. it seems that when i am moving with WASD the button doesn't work but the right click button does.
I tried to clean the underneath of the touchpad mouse buttons of this Dell Vostro 2520 Notebook. since then both the buttons are not working. I am not being able to use the left right buttons and now using an external mouse.

I have an HP Envy Ultrabook 4-1130us and the F6, F7, and F8 buttons aren't working as command controls for music anymore. All my other F1-F12 buttons work except those three. This has happened before and I thought it was due to iTunes not being updated. I updated iTunes and the buttons still aren't working. I ran a diagnostic test on my keyboard and the test says that nothing is wrong-which is partially true because every other button except F6, F7, and F8 are working.

It came with vista installed and when i pressed the volume buttons on top of the keyboard a gray bar used to come indicating the volume...but when i installed Windows 7 the gray bar is not coming....even though the buttons function properly(that is volume goes up and down) (pressing the volume touch button increases the volume, but does not display the volume slider window on the screen)

after I put the parts back in, most of the keys on keyboard, touch pad, the sexy green light, the led light on the upper part don't work!
The graphic switch still work, the vaio, assist, special and disc reject button still work. Some of the keys still work like "w p s z '" and space bar
The left, right, down arrow work, up arrow doesn't work
Can't adjust the screen brightness even in the power option.
The fingerprint work.
