HP Pavilion HDX16 Audio :: Quick Launch MUTE Button Continually Red
Oct 13, 2009I took delivery of a HDX16 - 1030EA last week. The MUTE button works but does not go white, it is continually red even when sound is playing. I have uninstalled the quick launch software & re-installed same. No difference.
I am running Vista home premium 64 & used the 64 drivers.

Aug 10, 2014I have a problem with my notebook. When I power my device everything is fine, but after ... let's several minutes sound disappears. The strange thing is that "mute button" on my keyboard is not responding too, when I hit it theres no orange light and one the screen appears a lvl of volume ( normally it should be a crossed volume lvl). When I want to play Spotify or something like that it says that my Audio card is used by another program... The funny thing is that when I did something like "stress test" (I played Spotify when sound worked just after system start) sound was working for about 6 hours and everything was fine.
System: Windows 8
Model: Notebook HP Pavilion g6-2310sw
Also I'd like to add that every system restart fixes that problem but only for a while (several minutes).

After updating everything from windows update and from HP, the mute button no longer lights up on the keyboard when I have the sound muted. I can see that it is muted from the taskbar in the corner, but it usually lights up orange after it has been muted, and now it no longer is.

Mar 1, 2014when I woke up my HP Pavilion dv6 7010tx notebook (running windows 8 pro 64-bit) from sleep, I noticed that it had lost all sound. Audio tracks cannot be played on any media player, videos play intermittently without any audio, and there is no sound whatsoever irrespective of the program/application being run. Restarting the notebook doesn't fix this.
Also noteworthy is that pressing the f11 (mute) key doesn't do anything. The LED on the key remains off, the volume indication is shown on screen as it does while changing volume using f9 and f10 keys, however it doesn't show any mute/mute off indication as it should when functioning properly.

I have recently been fixed audio driver, but now something has gone wrong.
The mute button on the quick lauch buttons stays blue even when it is muted. It is a very small detail but I would like it to be fixed.

Jul 13, 2014I'm not sure if it's caused by the Windows 8 update from a few days back, but the problem started around then.
The audio on my laptop is not working. The mute stays on, even when I press the physcial keyboard button to enable sound, and try to enable sound with my mouse from the volume menu. Nothing has audio.
Laptop is a HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC running Windows 8 Pro 64-Bit.
I've seen some other people mentioning a problem like this recently...

Oct 9, 2009my mute button at the top of my computer functions, but does not change color when i mute or unmute something i'm watching or listening to. it does however make a popping noise and change color at what seems like random, just when clicking through websites. it will change color and making this popping noise but it won't actually mute. the color changing is not really an issue for me it's just the random "pop" sound i get that can get very annoying and have no idea how to get it running again properly. it's been like this for several weeks and can't trace it back to anything i've done around that time.

Jul 26, 2012I am having trouble with my wireless button, it remains red/orange despite touching it and restarting my laptop several times. My laptop is an HP Pavilion DV7=1135NR, it is originally installed with Windows Vista 64bit. However, i have it reformatted and change the OS to Windows7 Ultimate (32bit). And now i the wireless button wont turn blue. And also the wireless button located in the taskbar is no longer there.
Some additional background: The same problem (wireless wont turn blue) had been recurring before i had it reformatted but then i seek assistance then to HP customer assistant, and installed atheros. the problem had fixed for a while and the same problem would recur. However, i can turn it blue once i restart the laptop or when the "WLAN disabled" message would appear in the task bar and i would immediately touch the wireless button.
i tried downloading a driver from HP but still not working. right now i am connected via ethernet cable and its such an incovenience.

Dec 27, 2014I recently bought a product that works better with an external micorphone headset. This was my first time ever using one with my laptop. When I went through the set up process, the microphone was not picking up any sound and I could not hear anything through the external headset. I tried using both the microphone and headset port as well as different headsets with the same result. The headsets work fine on other devices. When I use just a plain headset connected through the headset port, I can hear just fine.
I went to Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Sound>Manage Audio Devices to troubleshoot, but nothing worked. I tryed updating the latest drivers and was told the latest are already installed.

Oct 23, 2014I'm having a problem after upgrading my t500 to windows 7 ultimate 64bit.
The volume buttons work fine (even without the hotkey software installed), but the mute button and the on screen display doen't work.
While I can live without the OSD, the lack of a mute button is really bothering me.
I have the power manager installed as well as the hotkey software. not sure if this has anything to do with it but UltraNav is also installed.

Jan 18, 2015Under Control Panel, Sound, Speakers and Headphones Properties, Tone Controls Tab, the Apply Button is grayed out for my Bass/Treble settings which reset to 4 every time my PC restarts if I change them. I cannot set the Bass/Treble levels permanently where I want them (Bass - 4 and Treble - 0) because the Apply Button does not work. I have two identical models of this PC with the same problem - both HP Pavilion dv6-7138us with Beats Audio and AMD cpu. Can the Apply Button be fixed? The Beats Audio Control GUI (also in Control Panel) has Bass and Treble settings that remain where set.Perhaps Beats is overriding Sound in Control Panel? I have a boxed Windows 7 32-bit installed on another PC and Sound has different control options - no Beats Audio. I would think if Beats modifies Sound controls in Control Panel, those controls should work. Otherwise, the modified Sound controls would not be there unless they are there in case Beats Audio is uninstalled or disabled? I see no way to uninstall or disable and have no desire to uninstall. IDT Audio is listed in Programs and Features.
