HP Pavilion Dv7 Audio :: External Microphone Not Picking Up Sound
Dec 27, 2014
I recently bought a product that works better with an external micorphone headset. This was my first time ever using one with my laptop. When I went through the set up process, the microphone was not picking up any sound and I could not hear anything through the external headset. I tried using both the microphone and headset port as well as different headsets with the same result. The headsets work fine on other devices. When I use just a plain headset connected through the headset port, I can hear just fine.
I went to Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Sound>Manage Audio Devices to troubleshoot, but nothing worked. I tryed updating the latest drivers and was told the latest are already installed.
The Product Name is : HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC
The Product # (NOT serial number) is : B5R46UA#ABA
The External Mic is called: IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
i want to hear microphone thorough speaker, i using hp pavilion dv4 notebook MICROPHONE( panasonic karaoke dynamic microphone). i had tried all possible setting like recording, sound etc. , but same microphone is working on pavillion dv6 ntbook.........
The sound on my HP Pavilion G6-1a19wm is not working. Sound "does" work when using the audio jack with external speakers. I have tried uninstalling the driver, updating the driver, microsoft fix-it, and troublshooting steps. audio device shows in device manager and is supposedly working properly, mute is "not' enabled. visually all audio related things suggest that the audio is fine and troubleshooting finds no problems..
DV2400 Conexant audio w/ HD smartaudio HD2 driver Cleared all cache, history, temp files... ran several anti-virus, spyware programs to make sure this isn't a virus
Ok, this is how I noticed the problem. I plugged in my iphone earbuds w/ mic into the microphone jack in the front and used windows sound recorder to record voice. It didn't pick up much of my voice but it picked up a radio station. If i unplugged the earbuds and hit record again, it only pick up static noise. Has any of you experience this problem? Pretty sure this isn't a virus...just something our laptop does.
New HP Pavilion 15-p067ca notebook. Strong echo when the other person is listening to me on Skype. I have watched HP troubleshooting video and tried all suggestions. I also hear the stong echoy sounds when I turn on the listening in the sound control box.I am about to return the laptop before the 14 days runs out , but thought i would check here.
I'm using HP Pavillion dv6 1330-er. The problem is - both my mic and webcam mic were working fine untill yesterday's morning. The evening before i was talking with my friend on skype and then gone to sleep. When i woke up - both mic input and webcam mic weren't working. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate x64 ... Nothing like this happened before.
Webcam video itself working fine. Headphones working fine.Tried to reinstall driver - didnt work. Laptop was resting on the table, just like i left it in the evening. Have 2 different windows installed on my laptop (the another one is windows XP, not a single program installed, just drivers) - mics aren't working.
The same mic on different PC working fine. The system detects both headphones mic and webcam mic and the system shows when i'm taking headphones' mic in and out.
When the laptop is on and I pick it up to move it I would often hear a loud CLICK sound coming from the HD. It had me freaked out that something was loose or that the heads were scratching the platters.
I just came across an article explaining what this noise has been. It is the sound of the read/write heads parking because of the "Sudden Motion Sensor" built into the laptop. It senses the rapid movement when I pick up the laptop and then it parks the heads to prevent scratching the platters... that is the click sound of the heads parking.
The sensor is a tri-axis accelerometer that detects sudden changes in "position and accelerated movement".
Anyways, I tested this to see if it was the "sudden motion sensor" parking the heads: - first I confirmed that the sound would still occur when picking up the laptop and tilting it quickly while still on - then I checked the sensor's settings to see if it was really on by running a command I found in the linked article. - then I turned off the sensor (that command is also in the article). - then I tested by picking up the laptop again and tilting it quickly...
no more CLICK
I enabled the sensor again because it is better to have it enabled than to risk scratching a platter if I drop the laptop. I'm just happy to have found the source of the CLICK and to know it wasn't a faulty HDD.
I was watching something online when the sound became distorted (has happened before) so turned off G6 laptop and restatred worked well for 20 minutes and then it went all distorted again. Turned it off again and started it up again however this time the sound completely vanished. Tried iTunes, internet, and a movie on laptop and nothing is working anymore. Have checked all the easy sound things making sure I didn't turn it off but nope it all says device is working.
Ok, I havent had sound on my HP for 8 months. I have done all the troubleshooting I can and I really need to have sound on this PC. I have been working on this all week. Do I need to do a factory restore?? Model XY980UA#ABA, HP Pavilion DV6 Notebook.
We have an HP Pavilion g6 with Windows 7 program. Until yesterday it was working fine. But now we do not have any sound from it except when playing CDs or media music. Have tried and checked several setting etc. but cannot correct this problem. Laptop sound test is ok with and w/out headphones or external but not when trying to listen or hear anything when connected to the internet.
I've recently installed windows 8.1 and now have no sound. The speaker icon in the bottom right corner has a small red x on it, when i have the mouse over it, it says 'no audio output device is installed'. I found that updating the driver in sounds via the at control panel but this the said:
'Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while trying to install it
IDT HD Audio CODEC
A device attached to the system is not functioning'...
I can't set my sound default. I recently got my computer updated and a few hours later, my sound stopped working, then my videos, too. I reinstalled my computer, but when it got to the point where you set sound defult, it wouldn't work. The sections "Configure" and "Properties" worked, but "Set Default" wouldn't. I am so frustrated because I need sound and video to do a lot of things on my computer.
My product name is: Windows 8 HP Pavilion Sleekbook 15 PC

HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PC Product number C6M11EA#ABU driver version 18.104.22.16807
I have an older HP Pavilion dv 9000, with Windows 7. I was attempting to watch a video and noticed that the sound was muted. So, initially, I tried to turn it up, but it seemed locked. It had never done that before, so after several failed attempts, the mute sign disappeared and now it's just a red x, and when I go in to check it, it tells me that there is no sound hardware installed. I tried to install a new driver from your website but it is still not working.
i'm the owner of a sleekbook HP Pavilion 15-b040sl. The OS is Windows 8.A few days ago i found a problem about the sound: the speaker didn't emit sound; all video or mp3 starts without sound.I decided to disinstall the driver of the sound. There were 3 driver; I found just 1, the others generated error during the installation.I miss two driver, i can't find them:
When I first used the laptop sound would sometimes come through the HDMI to the TV. Now it never does. When I look at playback devices there is no HDMI playback, but only "Speaker/HP". I have gone into the DTS audio panel, which also only lists one playback device. I have also right clicked in playback devices to show all disabled or disconnected devices and there aren't any others.
Laptop speakers or speakers plugged into the jack work fine. The video on the HDMI connection also works fine.
So far I have upgraded the BIOS to the latest version and also uninstalled the realtek audio driver and installed the latest driver from HP's website.
None of this has caused sound to work through the HDMI or even an HDMI playback device to appear.
I'm using a HP Pavilion 17 Notebook PC running on Windows 8 64bit. About a week ago, my sound is randomly disappearing and I have to restart my laptop each time. Then, the sound works like normal, but when I don't use my laptop for some time (while it is still on), and I start a movie or something, the sound doesn't work. When I click the sound bar on the bottem-right corner, there's no green bar indicating sound.I've tried reinstalling sound drivers and reselecting a standard sound device, but nothing seems to work.
