View 3 Replies View RelatedAre both needed for the volume and mute keys to work as well as play/paul skip etc? I am running into an issue on bootup where something sort of drags and I think its the software that goes with these buttons. If I try to use the system to early I can crash explorer. I was able to do this on two brand new laptops. Or would I be better installing the lastest Sound driver, quick touch?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have HP DV5T-1200SE
It came with vista installed and when i pressed the volume buttons on top of the keyboard a gray bar used to come indicating the volume...but when i installed Windows 7 the gray bar is not coming....even though the buttons function properly(that is volume goes up and down) (pressing the volume touch button increases the volume, but does not display the volume slider window on the screen)
I even installed the latest HP Quick launch buttons Windows 7 driver:

and I also tried this one:

This is what I have, and I imagine HP probably use the same drivers for most of its late model laptops on windows 7 for the touch activated media button i.e. the back lit strip above the keyboard just below the LED screen that let you activate WIFI, sound. playback..etc..
I have read from several posts that windows 7 install fine on HP laptop just that the touch strip driver does not work with the factory drivers.
i have a hp dv5t running windows 7. i already downloaded the plugin (Controlling iTunes with laptop media controls when iTunes is minimized?) and i am running itunes 9, but it doesn't work

Does anyone know where I can find it?
planning on purchasing either an HDX16 or HDX18 for college. Right now, the HDX18 is cheaper, but which one would be the best for transporting between classes, etc? Also, how would you take notes if the battery only last two hours?
I will also have another coupon that takes off $250 from the price listed.
or
I think I will purchase the HDX18, and then return it in the 21 day period if I feel it is too large or something. Which one would you choose based on the specs and price and the portability for college?

View 3 Replies View Relatedi installed the newest drivers from hp (6.50.9.1), didn't help. uninstalled them, installed 6.50.7.1, didn't work.

I've got a new dv7t. I did a clean install of vista and then installed the latest quick launch drivers from the hp site (6.4 or so). Is there supposed to be a way to configure what these buttons (besides the wireless, mute and volume) do?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought a HP dv4 1242TX in may 2009. Except for the heating problem, it was working okay till last week. The quick launch buttons (qlb) have gone berserk. The volume reaches the maximum level and stays there even on reducing it through or manually. It temporarily goes down and as soon I remove my finger from the qlb, the volume goes to maximum level. I have downloaded and installed the latest driver for qlb's but the problem persists. Due to this, the other qlb's for wlan, quick play, play stop etc are not working. I do not know what seems to be the problem and my warranty period also got over.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Compaq Presario CQ60-216DX laptop, which came with Vista installed and I need to downgrade to Windows XP (for work purposes). I can't seem to find a Windows XP driver for this model and am waiting to downgrade until I know if I need one / if there is one.
my questions are:
1) Is there a Windows XP driver for the Presario CQ60-216DX laptop?
2) If the answer to question 1 is no, is there a comparable driver to use?
I am going to install MSDN version Win 7 on my dv6700. Is there any issues, esp. drivers issues so far with this setup? Do current vista drivers work well with Windows 7?
I am not concerned about big things like display drivers. I am just crossing fingers for drivers like authentec, wifi and bluetooth?
Windows Update just offered me a new IDT High Definition Audio Driver for my dv5t. I decided not to install it yet. Has anybody tried it? What version is it?
View 5 Replies View Relatedshould I download it from windows update site? I dont know the difference between two drivers from HP site and windows update. from hp site there is no such new driver for nvidia and I tried the driver from the windows update it caused forever load after vista login so i uninstalled and went back to old HP's own old nvidia driver so it speeds up.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI reboot and it works excellent now. Don't know why, but it was ejecting every disc I put in, even blank ones, so I rebooted. For some reason it must not have liked the very first Blu-Ray I put in ever, and set of the ejections. Its ok now. Odd.
For the first time ever I have bought a Blu-Ray DVD. I put the DVD in my DV9774ca "Blu-Ray" drive and expect Media Center or something to come up, yet the disc drive is making its searching jiggedy jig noises for a few moments, then it ejects it and nothing happens on screen. No programs open or anything.
I have a new Compaq CQ58-353EM laptop. It came with preinstalled system (Windows 8). Afterwards I installed Windows and HP updates.
Â
The problem I have is with the Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller (ethernet). In the device manager it is shown with a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark. In the device state it is stated:Â Your computer's system firmware does not include enough information to properly configure and use this device. To use this device, contact your computer manufacturer to obtain a firmware or BIOS update. (Code 35).
Â
Laptop has all system and hp updates installed.
Â
I tried the following to resolve the problem:
- 2 different bios versions (F.26 and F.25).
- several add/remove/reinstall of the Realtek drivers
- 2 different versions of Realtek drivers:Â 8.3.730.2012 and 8.20.815.2013 (from Realtek site).
Â
Ethernet is working OK under Ubuntu.
While back, looks like user "WeAreNotAlone" has solution to my recover reinstall of Quick Play on dv8301nr with 2-each 80gb hard drives, posted o5-25-06, #268 under HP Notebook Forums, HP notebooks, HP's Quick Play v2.0.
Fix was to remove or re-size the extended (logical) partition to allow totally free, unpartitioned space at the end of the drive.... Then run the QP v2.0 installer...
How do I do this?
I wiped both hard drives (after getting frustrated), Put in HP's Windows XP recovery DVD (that I ordered from HP specific to my dv8301nr) and subtracted 1024 from available (but ended up with 1020, somehow?), then installed HP's Application and Programs DVD, and, after long online chat with HP live help, installed their update for installing Quick Play. But i still get Error 2147418113 Quick Play Componnent Move Data error. How do I remove or re-size this logical partition thing-a-ma-jig? Thanks.
By rhe way, new here. Looks like lots of good info. Have 2-each HP laptops, and one HP desktop. In past, have bought, new, 3-HP desktops, and these current used laptops. I like HP, most of the time
I did a clean install of Windows 7 on my Studio XPS 16 and everything is working except I can't play DVDs.
I installed the latest firmware for the DVD and got sound but no video.
I have also installed the latest ATI drivers and chipset with no luck.
Device Manager shows the driver for the monitory is a generic pnp monitor and I cannot set the resolution of the monitor above 1024 x 768. So, I am assuming that my problem is either the monitor driver and/or the ATI driver.
