A friend of mine recently purchased a brand new VGN-CS11S_P notebook. All works fine except for the volume ‘Touch Sensor Buttons’ which are extremely unresponsive.

I've installed windows 7 on my girl's notebook and i've got some problems:
1) this version of sony got a sensor touch bar in the top of the keyboard. It is not working (buttons ain't lightening at all..)
2) fn + brightness control is not working as well (i reinstalled all the vaio control center in the right order and all others fn keys are working)
3) nvidia drivers suggested from sony just crash every 5 minutes (the driver has stopped working and has been recovered), though the 190.38 driver that windows installed in the first installation works good.
So.. this was from a clean installation, even though I have to admit I may have messed up with drivers since there was no official windows 7 driver yet released from sony.
I've read that new bios should fix brightness issues, but the sony support gives a broken link to the new bios and i do not know where to dl it.
I upgraded the OS to Windows 7 professional x64 several months ago, at that time sony had not provided the drivers yet,
but still Win7 recognized most of the devices and I've tried to install the drivers for other OS,
most the installations were incomplete but somehow some of the multi-media buttons worked except for the AV MODE button
I have a Carbon Touch 3444-CUU that can't see it's fingerprint reader. It used to work when brand new, but after lots of lenovo and windows updates, it now does not:

I am on Windows 8.1, with all updates. No problems in device manager.
Touchchip Fingerprint Coprocessor (WBF advanced mode) installed under Biometric devices fine.
Power management set to _not_ turn off device to save power.
The bios is 2.61.

I suspect the problem is very low-level, because even the BIOS cannot find device when trying to set it up.

If I have the latest BIOS, but it can't see the device - what can I do?
I have a T500 (LENOVO 2081CTO ThinkPad T500) running W7 32 bit. Been working fine since September 10. Today when simply trying to logon the fingerprint sensor has stopped working. Laptop had not even been moved, simply resting on desk and then switched on from powered off.
A few times since have received message that "USB device is being installed" with finally "USB Device could not be installed. There is a problem with your device." Device Manager showed a problem with "USB Composite device"
Powered off/on gave same symptom.
Downloaded & installed latest fingerprint software 7wf162ww.exe. Installed OK. USB device appeared to then automatically pick up and reinstall correctly. BUT still unable to use fingerprint to logon or for with Thinkvantage Client Security.
Using Thinkvantage Lenovo Fingerprint Software gives error "Cannot communicate with sensor. Please confirm the sensor is ready."Â

I've also noticed the keyboard around the fingerprint sensor is very warm, almost hot. As if it is being constantly turned on?

Lovely machine this, but a couple of times now, I've accidentally hit the wireless enable/disable touch button above the keyboard. Does any one know please whether there is a way of disabling this from working in Win 7?

View 8 Replies View RelatedThe touch sensitive eject button on my new Studio 15 laptop appears to be stuck on. When I reboot the laptop, the media control lights flash back and forth as normal. However, the CD drive immediately ejects and the eject button light stays permanently on. This all happens the second the laptop comes on - long before it boots into Vista. This makes me suspect a hardware rather than software issue.

I've tried cleaning the button, checking for dirt under and on the button and rebooting the laptop. I also rested it overnight.

I only got the laptop on Friday.
Well after i reformat my pc the gray window that shows after you touch one of the five touch sensitive button doesn't show.same goes when you Fn+F5 which supposed to show WLAN and bluetooth card settings. What application or something i have to install for this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a dell Studio 1558 laptop. I'm extremely careful not to have liquids anywhere near my keyboard. Â However I was drinking tea and felt I was far enough back that liquids should not even reach the laptop. I was probably about a foot back. Well one of my cats nudged my arm and hit it with enough force that a few drops hit the touch pad. Â I cleaned it up. Â This morning I turn my laptop on and now my left touch pad button does not work. I figured that I probably needed to clean it. So I pried the button off gently. Â And used a little rubbing alcohol on a q-tip and cleaned it off. When I pried it up it didn't look really dirty at all. There was no residue on the inside that I could see. Â I put the button back on, and it still doesn't work. Â So now I'm wondering if enough got inside to actually cause damage or if it's just coincidental that the button stopped working at the same time? Â I used it all the time for copying stuff and scrolling. I can use all the other buttons and scroll without using it.
Should the cleaning underneath have cured it if it was the liquid? If the liquid got past the underneath of the key itself then it should have affected the whole key pad not just one key, right?
I have an S series and when I press the silver VAIO button it mutes the sound.
I haven't found where to change the function of this button.
I've only removed the following Sony apps:
media gallery
pmb 5 and pmb plugins (click2disk/image optimizer/movie story)
vaio content metadata intelligent analyzing manager
vaio transfer support
Unfortunately I can't remember the default function of this button. Perhaps it was the media gallery? I'd like to change it anyhow.
I have a SZ61WNC machine with XP downgrade on it. Everythings been working fine until suddenly the fingerprint reader stopped working.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI received my Dell Studio 1737 only a few hours ago and the immediate problem I've found is that Fn+F10 and the eject soft touch button don't eject a CD whilst in Vista. They work fine in the BIOS or Diagnostics Utility but don't work when the machine boots up into Vista.Â
BIOS is showing as A04 and the latest available on the Dell Drivers website is A02
I want to make it so one finger tap would be left click and two finger tap would be right click. Is this possible. If so, how would I go about doing this.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI got my SR on Christmas Eve. Everything has been great, until now. Today I connected a VAIO USB mouse to use instead of the touch-pad for the first time. Now, it seems like the touch-pad has gotten a mind of its own.
The touch-pad responds, but it seems to be very sporadic. When moving the cursor around, it seems to jump. The movement has also become slow even though in the mouse settings I have it set on fast .....
i purchased laptop vaio vgn-c36mj and the original windows "x64"freezes and i had to format and i downloaded vista x32 and it worked fine but the problem is the touch buttoms aren't working
note:i downloaded all the drivers for x32 from the site and still they don't work and i checked device manager and found nothing not installed and b4 my format there were cool wallpapers vaio and some applications i don't remember from vaio but didn't find them on the site
Ok after 3 days of using the 1340 I just realized the button on the top panel that you can use to increase/decrease volume stopped working. I had updated the latest drivers from Dell site but not sure if that is the reason.
Also non of the other buttons that are for DVD work either. And I know they were working when I got the laptop and only thing I have done is update with latest drivers.
I was wondering if the LED power button on the right side of the laptop could be user modified to change to, let's say blue. Is that possible?

A week ago the touch pad stopped working . Only a USB mouse will keep the cursor alive. I'm posting this because I couldn't find any relevant info on any forums or online sony support centres and hope this might aid others in the same situation.
If your Sony VAIO touch pad doesn't work there are steps to take to find out exactly where the problem lies...
It might be static electric interference try...
1. Shut down
2. Unplug adapter
3. Remove battery
4. Hold down the power button for 1-2 minutes
5. Insert battery
6. Power on, test.
Still under warranty Sony phone support were however quite helpful and efficient, this is what they told me............

(nothing to do with the battery). i sent the laptop to sony and they told me it would cost $900 to fix, so i said no way im going to pay that much. so i am now stuck with the TZ, is there an alternate way to put the laptop on?

no other icons respond to either buttons either single or double click, I can use the click on the touchpad itself to get around but this has only happened in the last couple of days,
I've tried reinstalling the driver, system restore and even removing the battery for 10 seconds but they still don't work and under the settings they are configured correctly

View 7 Replies View RelatedI bought a Sony VAIO notebook from Japan (VGN CS52JB). With the help of this site I managed to convert it into Vista Home Premium English version which was originally Japanese.
Everything works perfect except the AV mode button and the capture button. (which worked fine originally)
I installed "VAIO Event Service" and "VAIO Launcher", which I thought need to have that functionality.
Do I need to install any other VAIO applications to get it working?
About three months ago I returned my laptop to be repaired for a hard drive malfunction, not a big deal since I had the two year accidental protection plan. When I got it back they gave me a new hard drive, but my video card switcher no longer worked! Please see the attached image: the slide switch is towards "Stamina" however the "Speed" is illuminated. The slideswitch seems to be locked in place, I cannot move it.
I only recently had time to tell Sony about this, to which they replied that they cannot help me, since it has been more than 30 days since the repair. I replied explaining that I had this fancy-shmancy protection plan, and perhaps it could be fixed under that umbrella; to which they tactfully retorted that they had (prematurely) terminated my contract, and that if I want, I can send it in and be charged for parts and labor for the thing that they broke. Anyway..I would love to fix this myself, since I am in fact on my own. I took off the keyboard and palmrest, and was unable to find out how to remove the cover that contains the S-buttons/slideswitches/power button/speakers. Is it in there with just clips? This region looks particularly delicate, not that the rest isn't, however I feel as thought I should be especially gentle. Ive checked all the disassembly/teardown links I could find on the sz series, but none seem to detail how to remove this one part.
I keep my laptop connected to external monitor and turned on 24/7 in the room where I sleep. But at night,
when the room is dark and I'm ready to sleep, I have the power button of the FW emitting this fairly bright green light and it bothers me
My Vaio is just out of warranty and it's always had a bit of a clicky odd left-button.
I've noticed that it is gradually getting worse so I'm expecting it to break soon. I should have had it done while the computer was in warranty, but I've heard bad things about their service centre, and they'd probably have charged me for the repair anyway. I did ask them about it toward the end of the warranty period and they wanted me to email them Admin passwords and then pick up the computer for an undisclosed period. I just didn't fancy it - my fault.
Anyway, I have several friends at work who are IT technicians and one of them will have a look. I haven;t found a service manual for the CR series yet, but I'm assuming the buttons are part of the mount for the trackpad and can either be replaced individually or the mount (or pad) can be replaced.
It's just over a year old and I'm thinking about boosting the RAM, HD and upgrading to W7, but on the other hand, I'm not convinced the machine is going to survive another 2-3 years...
