View 7 RepliesI have a T500 (LENOVO 2081CTO ThinkPad T500) running W7 32 bit. Been working fine since September 10. Today when simply trying to logon the fingerprint sensor has stopped working. Laptop had not even been moved, simply resting on desk and then switched on from powered off.
A few times since have received message that "USB device is being installed" with finally "USB Device could not be installed. There is a problem with your device." Device Manager showed a problem with "USB Composite device"
Powered off/on gave same symptom.
Downloaded & installed latest fingerprint software 7wf162ww.exe. Installed OK. USB device appeared to then automatically pick up and reinstall correctly. BUT still unable to use fingerprint to logon or for with Thinkvantage Client Security.
Using Thinkvantage Lenovo Fingerprint Software gives error "Cannot communicate with sensor. Please confirm the sensor is ready."
I've also noticed the keyboard around the fingerprint sensor is very warm, almost hot. As if it is being constantly turned on?
Fingerprint sensor is AuthenTec Inc. AES2810
On my nc6320 working, where Windows 7 is installed, it stopped working the fingerprint sensor after some update of the operating system;I have tried to reinstall all the software for the driver but I could not find a working combination.

I'm currently having issues with a HP Envy dv7, I'm currently running windows 8.1.
I had a little of trouble with my original hard drive (physical damage) and had to replace it, obviously I lost my HP recovery partition and all the extra drivers that come with it,is there any way to get them? And also i can't seem to use my Biometric device since I don't have HP simeple pass , I tried downloading one from other post but it didn't work.
My fingerprint reader stopped working. I can open the Simple Pass ID program but when I click on fingerprints, it indicates "verifying identity" with an hourglass on top of the fingerprint icon and no matter how long I wait, that's all that happens.
Pavilion dv6t 3100 notebook, Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit, 8GB RAM, i5 processor.
Two days after my warranty expired, both USB ports on my E4200 and the fingerprint reader stopped responding. The USB on the docking station work fine.
I have since tried to update the bios and uninstalled the USBs in Device Manager. All to no avail.
When I plug a stick into the USB port, it lights up (i.e., some power to the port), but the computer does not see anything plugged in.
I can no longer use or enroll finger prints on my T430s laptop running Windows 8.1!
ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software is 6.0.0.8102.
Sensor: TouchChip Fingerprint Coprocessor (WBF advanced mode). Driver version: 1.6.2.352.
Symptom: when trying to enroll a fingerprint, I get the message: 'Use a longer stroke when scanning your fingerprint,' the sensor light turns from green to blinking orange (3 times), then back to green. Same happens when when trying to enroll from Windows PC Setting/ Sign-in Options/ Fingerprint (Add).
What I tried: uninstalling ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software and Driver (to include selecting 'Delete the driver software for this device'), rebooting, using Lenovo System Update to re-install ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software, rebooting. Have also tried to manually install previous versions of the Fingerprint Software to no avail.
I had this similar problem in the past, since upgrading from Windows 8 to 8.1, but the steps above usually resolved it.
For whatever reason my ringerprint reader stopped working. I've uninstalled and re-installed the driver, software and done just about everything I can find online.
In the device manager it usually shows up, but sometimes doesnt. In the control panel>biometric devices, it shows up less often, usually only after i've clicked "Scan for hardware changes."
Having any issues with the fingerprint reader on Win 8 64 Bit on the T500? Windows is not detecting any biometric devices.
View 9 Replies View RelatedBecause of a virus, I recently had to reinstall Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I have gotten everything else working except the fingerprint reader.I have installed the Validity Fingerprint Reader driver from the Dell Support site. The fingerprint reader shows up in the Device Manager. However, the Biometric Devices applet doesn't appear in the Control Panel.
I tried letting Windows update detect the fingerprint reader. It installed a driver for a Synaptics device. This was enough to get the Biometric Devices applet to appear in the Control Panel. However, when I tried to configure the fingerprint reader, I got an error saying no fingerprint management software was installed. I have seen lots of posts online directing me to validityinc.com for drivers or the DigitalPersona software, but Validity Inc. seems to have gone out of business. The DigitalPersona software is available on the Dell Support site for my service tag.
I have even tried installing the Windows 8 Validity Sensor Driver for my laptop, but though it successfully installs, it produces the same results.
I have a HDX 16-1200 with Windows 7 installed.
I have the fingerprint reader working fine for logging in, but I was wondering if it's possible to make it work with general applications like internet browsers?
It is possible on Vista, but I don't know how to get it working on Win 7.
I used to use fingerprint basically every day and now it stopped working. Not sure if it was after any sw update because it happens automatically. Sometimes it requires computer reboot that I am forced to do but if there is no restart required I guess I have no notification that there was any sw update.
I downloaded latest Fingerprint driver from lenovo site.I am on Windows7 64 bit.
on my m4400 it seems the fingerprint software is only used to log on to windows.
my girlfriend has an acer with a fingerprint reader, she can use it to log on to websites etc...
does the dell software allow me to do this? or do i have to download some third party software?
what is the difference between a UPEK fingerprint reader and the non upek one? lol... dell has those two options
I bought a Dell Latitude E6410 with fingerprint sensor, I checked the drivers and I've the drivers for Dell ControlVault w/ fingerprint swipe sensor, and I want to use the fingerprint sensor instead of the pasword to log in in my user of the computer, but I dont know what software I need to do it, what software (Aplication) can I use for that?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Travelmate P455 supplied by my work but the fingerprint sensor is not setup. It has an EGIS TEc ES603 sensor. I have installed the Acer EGISTEC Windows 7 x64 driver and the ACER Bio Protection software.

I can not find the fingerprint sensor driver for W700 Windows 8.1 x64?
View 4 Replies View RelatedA few days ago, i bought this Pavilion DM4-3115TX Beats Edition. (Product No. B6U96PA#AR6) With OS installed i'm starting install every driver. Everything is working except the finger print sensor driver.
For me, Its difficult to find the compatible driver for this fingerprint device. Its been 2 days i browsing searching for this driver in this hp forum. Since the Driver download section is not provide the drivers for this device, i try many fingerprint sensor driver in every thread i've met. But no one gives me positive result.
I just recently purchased a ThinkPad T530 (type/model# 2429-C93) which should have the following options present according to Lenovo´s product information:
i5-3320M(2.6GHz), 4GB RAM, 500GB 7200rpm HD, 15.6in 1366x768 LCD, Intel HD Graphics, Intel 802.11agn wireless, WWAN, Bluetooth, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure Chip, Fingerprint reader, Camera, 6c Li-Ion, Win7 Pro 64.
However, there is no Bluetooth device detected while trying to install the respective driver. Also, installation of the Integrated Camera Driver runs, but disappears at some point in time, with no error message or pop-up indicating a successful installation. Third, while trying to configure the Fingerprint sensor, the ThinkPad Fingerprint software states there is no device available.
Both camera and FP sensor are physically visible, where the green Bluetooth LED known from an R61 and T410 is missing at the lower edge of the lid.
Fn+F5 and Fn+F6 keys don´t provide an option to toggle on/off Bluetooth and camera, but only WiFi/WWAN and Audio options.
Device Manager does not show any unknown devices or such related to these functions.
Is there a chance that these options are missing in a specific laptop, despite specified for its type/model# (serial#: R9V8MNB)?
Or do I need to first activate the options in the BIOS?
I have a Carbon Touch 3444-CUU that can't see it's fingerprint reader. It used to work when brand new, but after lots of lenovo and windows updates, it now does not:
I am on Windows 8.1, with all updates. No problems in device manager.
Touchchip Fingerprint Coprocessor (WBF advanced mode) installed under Biometric devices fine.
Power management set to _not_ turn off device to save power.
The bios is 2.61.
I suspect the problem is very low-level, because even the BIOS cannot find device when trying to set it up.
If I have the latest BIOS, but it can't see the device - what can I do?
The Biometric Fingerprint device on my HP Pavilion dv6 laptop is not working. I get the message:
1. The Fingerprint reader is not detected (during start up prior to logging in).
2. Windows did not find any biometric devices on this computer ( when I checked via Control Panel).
I went into this challenge when I reinstalled my windows 7 o/s after I realised I had some corrupted files and so could not install an HP printer on my computer. Unfortunately I did not have the original restoration file so I had to do reformating and reinstallation of the o/s.
My O/S is Windows 7 ultimate.
I did a fresh install of Windows and managed to get everything working but the fingerprint reader. When I try to get it to work with Window's login using protector suite 09 I get this error message: A biometric sensor has filed".

After you install it, it will ask you if you want to install the firefox patch.
Now my fingerprint reader works perfectly with firefox 3.
I just got a Sony SR today and everything was working well (including the fingerprint reader).
However, after I restarted my computer, the finger print reader stopped working for some reason and it was no longer recognized by my computer.
I was playing a game and suddenly the game crashed and it jumped into windows ,an icon appeared saying display driver stopped working ,i entered the game again game crashed this time it restarted the system, now the system cant even show the VAIO and phoenix logo. its full of lines with extremely low resolutions,as i try to enter windows blue screen shows up and it restart the system auto. i entered safe mode and i found out ASA i uninstall the nvidia driver(8400M GT),the windows start up.Now the driver is uninstalled and i can work in windows, but in very low setting, like i am having onboard graphic chip,i cant modify my graphic card and the chip and DAC type are all unavaiable,(instead i have unknow device in my device manager) i think i need to flash my BIOS, but i searched the internet for my bios couldnt find anything,i think i need to do it manual.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought my Sony VAIO VGN-FW11E at the beginning of January and have been very happy with it. A notebook that has very similar specs to macbook pro at half the price! Wicked.
A week ago the touch pad stopped working . Only a USB mouse will keep the cursor alive. I'm posting this because I couldn't find any relevant info on any forums or online sony support centres and hope this might aid others in the same situation.
If your Sony VAIO touch pad doesn't work there are steps to take to find out exactly where the problem lies...
It might be static electric interference try...
1. Shut down
2. Unplug adapter
3. Remove battery
4. Hold down the power button for 1-2 minutes
5. Insert battery
6. Power on, test.
Still under warranty Sony phone support were however quite helpful and efficient, this is what they told me............
I installed the drivers for the biometric security on this Sony Vaio and I don't know how I get to the settings for it

my backlight and touchpad are not working since i replaced my DV3000's motherboard with one meant for a DV3500 (wrongly listed as DV3000). I think that it has something to do with the lid sensor.
