I see many touchscreen kits on eBay for the AAO and EEE PCs, and I was wondering how well they worked. It would be pretty awesome to have a touchscreen AAO (especially with the added touchscreen compatibility of Windows 7). So to those who have made the modification: How difficult was it on a scale of 1 to 10?

Recently I noticed that my touch screen sometimes starts to hits randomly at the bottom of the screen. This problem cause some windows became minimize and maximize on its own and when i'm watching video, the video keep pause, play and pause again. I tried to find any crack on the screen but found nothing.Â

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got a Acer Aspire V3 771-6605 with Windows 8.1. My touch pad wouldn't scroll or respond to any finger gestures, so I tried installing the ELANTECH and Synaptics touch pad drivers from the acer support site for my laptop. However, after I restarted the computer I keep getting stuck at the screen right before where you put in your password (the lock screen?). The only keys that seem to do anything are the function keys.Â
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased an Acer Aspire R7-572-6423 touchscreen notebook. Â It works great for the most part except for the touchscreen seems to glitch out every once in a while. Â What happens is out of nowhere the touch screen will start registering a click in the very upper left corner of the screen (as seen by the Windows 8 touch visual feedback) even though I am not touching the screen. Â The clicking happens very fast (several times a second) and makes the notebook unusuable.

I can make the clicking stop by touching and holding my finger on the screen near where the clicking is happening. Â However, as soon as I lift my finger, the clicking resumes.

To fix the issue, I have to do a touch screen calibration (Windows settings -> Tablet PC Settings -> Calibrate -> Touch input). Â However, the calibration appears to be off using this method (I cannot swipe the windows 8 bar to the right) so I then do a calibration reset (Tablet PC Settings -> Reset). Â This generally resolves the issue for a while.

I have tried moving the screen into different positions and cleaning the screen but the issue still comes back on occasion.
Just bought the 3521 Inspiron touch screen. Two questions:Does the touch screen require a screen protector? Many different answers. Would like your opinion!The outside cover shows fingerprints (even with clean hands). Can the outside cover be replaced to a different color or type (that doesn't show fingerprints)?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a 9300 that has been modded to an XPS Gen2 with the 7800 GTX in it. The battery that I have sometimes gives me the flashing orange light. When it's not doing that, it only last about an hour. It used to last much longer. I also think it's going out becaus of the orange light that flashes from time to time.
I want to buy a new one off Ebay but there are so many sellers and it looks like there are a good number of variances from the batteries. Some say 7200, some say 6600. I know what I want there, but my question is this:
Does anyone know of a good Ebay seller that sells a quality and correct product for my laptop?
Or does anyone have a place that will sell me a quality product? I don't want to pay $150 for a battery from Dell.
my 9300's 7800GTX is going belly up; one problem - its not with me. It is with my fiance, and she is in another state.
To make it worse, this laptop is... modified. Basically, it has had the case completely replaced (XPS G2 keyboard top, Dell Precision LCD lid. To see what i mean, look here: [url].The CPU is also pin-modded, and of course, was BIOS modded to allow the 7800GTX (not my work however; bought it like that).
Now, i have complete care and Next Business Day Onsite. If i call Dell to have them fix the machine...
1) Will i run into a problem becuase its not with it's warrenty owner?
2) Will i run into a problem because its modded?
3) Would they even have the 7800GTX anymore to fix it?
I guess worse comes to worse, i will have my fiance wait a month (which sucks, becuase she really needs that computer), and resore the machine to original look (and maybe no pinmod; but given how hard it was to do........), and then ask for a full replacement if need be. But, i would like to explore other options first.
I read from somewhere there is modded bios for D630 exists. I have googled around but unable to find one. I need it to overclock my X9000 cpu.

I've buyed a new XPS12 convertible ultrabook, when I've received the PC, the LCD not working, then has been replaced the LCD, but after that the LCD working in proper manner, but the Touch screen not running (date 17 of jan 2013) since this time the Technical support can not be able to solve this problem, first istance said there was some firmware version problem, they replace another time the LCD, but not solve the problem.
Today 34 day after receiving the payed ultrabook no answer has been provided, the only solution is to receive a new XPS12 but DELL need anoter 50 day to try to send me another PC.
DISCLAIMER! - I will not be responsible for what you do with your cards. However, I wanted to create a thread that would show those that want to play what the 8800m GTXs are capable of.
Before we get started. Let me explain the theory and the reasoning behind this whole thing.
Dell is not in the business of creating computers that burn up, and as most are very aware, they factor in a lot of room for overclocking and game enthusiasts that want to push their hardware to the limit. Here however, they did a "no no" IMO. However it's also the only way that they could tame the beast the 8800 is.
At the heart of the problem is the Dell PSU which is only rated at 230 watts and is close to being maxed and general heat generated by the cards themselves.
The standard 8800s as they arrive from dell, are set to run @ 1.00 volts. This however is a long shot from desktop versions of the cards running @ over 1.3 volts which are near identical in architecture. (some desktop users volt their's to over 1.4 volts!!!!)
What gives? Well from doing a little research, I found out that Dell, is not alone in undervolting these cards and Clevo along with dell does this as well except they undervolt even more! Down to 0.95V!!
Now the benefit of the undervolt, is that you generate a lot less heat. However the less voltage you allow the card, the less stable the card becomes at higher clock frequencies. From reading the posts on this forum alone, I noticed that most people run into artifacting between 620mhz and 645mhz core clocks and 950 memory clocks. The reason for this, is that at those clocks, you are asking the GPUs to do more work, then the voltage supplied to them will allow. All cards are different, but for the most part will run into stability problems before they run into heat problems. Testing this, I found that the GPU fans don't even kick on high during Crysis a game that should push any GPU and its fans to high................................
I ordered a Dell Studio 1558 in late Feb, to receive it in early March.
then one fine day, Engadget breaks the news that 1558 anf 1749 will be avaliable with full touch screen (initially it was a "slip" on Dell on-line catalogue here on page 5. What you will see now is only 1749, but originally (I have it printed) there was also 1558 for $999.
Bang, I cancel the order, waiting anxiously for 1558 Touch screen to apprear on the web-site. After a few days, only 1749 appears as available with touch screen, the 1558 is "purged" from the catalogue, "replaced" (the pictures seemingly stay the same) the descrition of a cheaper 1749, still the $999 remained.
Questions:
1. Anyone knows what's going on? Is 1558 Touch Screen for real or only 1749 will get the touch screen?
2. If 1558 will eventually get the touch screen, any idea how long do I have to bite nails? Will the 1558 touch screen be availble with the full-HD 1920x1080 screen?
Anyone have it and have any opinions on the touch screen.

I'm not sure if mt drivers are old, but my touch screen works sometimes then completely stops working and when I try to calibrate it, it tells me that there's no N-Trig duosense hardware on my computer. It says I DO have the hardware when it's in a 'working stage' though. Every time I try to download a driver, it says 'fatal error.'

The touch screen is nice, but when I'm operating in tablet mode, nearly every button and link I tap requires 14+ taps in frustrating repetition before any one registers. The screen responds to the fact that I'm tapping with the finger graphic, but it refuses to acknowledge that I'm clicking to open something. The windows 8 start menu works just fine, only one tap required for any tile. Everything else, however, program and internet sites, requires many taps before they register. Is there a way to fix this?
Not sure if it's a Windows issue or a hardware issue. I noticed a driver recently released called "Cottonwood LCD touch re-calibration (Dell Internal Only)." Should I try it???

I know it is the touch version and settings even calls it "lenovo y50-70 touch" but below that it reads "No pen or touch input available for this display" ...what?? there are also no drivers on lenovo's support page that say anything about touch.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWarning, do not install the optional update from Windows update called 'IdeaCom HID Touch Screen (PS/2)' on your Dell laptop.
If you do, your built in touch pad will no longer function.
This happened to me on my XPS M1530. To fix it, in Vista, I simply plugged in a USB mouse, opened up device manager, found the IdeaCom item under Human Interface Devices. Right click on it and select 'Uninstall' and also check the box to remove the driver.
To completely uninstall in XP, you may have to delete one of the INF files from C:Windowsinf. It should be the last one named oemXX.inf.
I'm curious on if I leave the iPod Touch screen on all the time on if it suffers from screen burn if the display doesn't change for a long time, like when showing the home screen. I know it drains the battery quicker, but I like knowing it's on when playing music.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, I have made sure all drivers are up dated (as on dell.com), and eventually I even formatted the HDD thinking some update must have caused this.
Unfortunately I have had no luck.
Just to add, Dell replaced my screen (due to ghost images) about a month ago - I'm thinking this could be the cause.
I ordered Dell Inspiron 15 3521 (with Intel Celeron 1007U) online when the website said this has optical touchscreen capabilities. But when I got it (2 days ago), the touchscreen is not working and I don't think it was installed on the laptop. Will Dell exchange the laptop for the tochscreen free of charge?
