Do you use it?Is it a waste? Is it awesome?...
Ever since I upgraded to Windows 7 and installed the Dell Synaptic Drivers v13.2.2.2, I seem to have gained additional touchpad gestures.
Along with the original chiral-scroll and two-finger zoom I now have:
-two-finger scrolling (vertical and horizontal)
-three-finger forward/back for web browsers and the Windows image viewer
-rotate
-three-finger quick launch (holding three fingers down for 1 second opens notepad)
-momentum (I'm not sure if this one is new)
I have found out that the touch pad surface extends further than it should. I have a habit on leaning on my elbow,
when I have my laptop on my legs I put my elbow on the palm rests. I found out quickly though that if I lean on it I end up doing a multi touch zoom,
to start off with I thought my system was just being rubbish but then I tested it again and it worked fine after I took my elbow off.
This must mean that the touch surface extends further than the edge of the "touchpad",
I just wonder how far it actually goes and whether we could make use of it .
I want to make it so one finger tap would be left click and two finger tap would be right click. Is this possible. If so, how would I go about doing this.

I'm using 13.2.1.0 with my 1340 because the newer ones haven't worked. Next, navigate to the Device Settings tab, and click Settings. From there, the fun begins.
Go to Application Gestures, "Three Fingers Down," and select Configure. At that point, you'll need this command:
%windir%System32
undll32.exe dwmapi.dll #105
Copy that, select "Add" and paste it into the command text box. Name it Flip 3D or whatever you want, and select OK, OK, and click Apply. Now, make sure you have Three Finger Flick enabled. This will let you scroll between the applications that are running in Flip 3D. Once you get the hang of it, it's a very cool and easy way to get around. You know, or not. Whatever.
i just got (what i think is) the first gen envy 15 (4000 series graphics card), and i was wondering how to get the multi touch to work
View 9 Replies View RelatedUse MultiClutch to assign multi-touch gestures in almost any application in OS X!
Quote:
Basically, Multiclutch allows you to assign custom keyboard shortcuts in a given app to a given gesture. Want swipes to change tabs in Safari? Done. The same in iChat? Done. Want zoom-in to open emails in Mail, zoom-out to close windows in every app, and a swipe down to bring up Quicksilver? Done done done.
MultiClutch works by installing a simple input manager that catches gesture events, looks to see what shortcut you’ve defined for it in the frontmost app (if you haven’t defined anything, it behaves in the standard manner), and performs that shortcut. You use a System Preference Pane to customize gestures with an interface similar to the shortcut-customization table in the Keyboard & Mouse pane. You can ‘bind’ gestures in a given Cocoa app (due to the nature of input managers, Carbon apps are not supported) or globally.
I actually find it easier to use the multi touch compared to the mouse somehow, the touchpad is big so i can navigate as easily as with a mouse and the multitouch gestures make it so much better to use.
I was thinking of getting a mighty mouse but im not sure its worth it as apple gestures make navigateing so good. are the press buttons on the mighty mouse just 1 button or two.
My multi-touch works great in every way, except for the zooming thing like the iTouch...
When I put my fingers together and open it slowly the image go into FULL ZOOM and if I put them back together go to a complete ZOOM OUT...

So Apple told Google not to use multi-touch gestures in its Google Android phone and Google listened to them. The phone is capable of multitouch gestures, but Apple told Google not to use it to protect the iPhone.
Is Apple out of line? Are they Microsoft Jr.? Is Apple replaying the patenting of a GUI OS from the 1980s?
Apple is stifling innovation with these anti-competitive practices.
Multi-Touch trackpad and windows! is there a driver for this?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have dell inspiron duo 1090 with a multi touch screen suportted in windows 7, and the multi touch feature (right click with 2 fingers touch, zooming) used to work until I upgraded dell datasafe local backup to version 9.4.60 (after automatic reminder) and after this install the touch screen is working but the multi-tocuh functionality doesn't (although it was enabled in the windows settings) - no zooming or right click with 2 features touch, after I restored this software to version 9.4.51 the multi-touch is back to work, I checked this again and again to isolate the source of the problem and it really seems like a strange bug in datasafe 9.4.60.
How do I report this bug to dell so I could update the dell datasafe to an updated version but without loosing the multi-touch functionality.
I upgraded the OS to Windows 7 professional x64 several months ago, at that time sony had not provided the drivers yet,
but still Win7 recognized most of the devices and I've tried to install the drivers for other OS,
most the installations were incomplete but somehow some of the multi-media buttons worked except for the AV MODE button
"Multi-Touch gestures in older Mac models. All Mac notebooks with Multi-Touch trackpads now support three- and four-finger gestures." from the snow leopard site. does this mean what i think it means? will my older mac (summer 2007) support multitouch?

the problem now: after installing several versions of the driver, even trying the alps and elantech versions, i could never manage to get multi-gesture settings in the settings windows from synaptics - there are only settings visible for right- and left-click. where are the multi-touch gesture options for windows 8?

basic funtions work, like left click, two-finger right click and two-finger scrolling, but nothing is configurable and all the other gestures are not available.

I ordered a Dell Studio 1558 in late Feb, to receive it in early March.
then one fine day, Engadget breaks the news that 1558 anf 1749 will be avaliable with full touch screen (initially it was a "slip" on Dell on-line catalogue here on page 5. What you will see now is only 1749, but originally (I have it printed) there was also 1558 for $999.
Bang, I cancel the order, waiting anxiously for 1558 Touch screen to apprear on the web-site. After a few days, only 1749 appears as available with touch screen, the 1558 is "purged" from the catalogue, "replaced" (the pictures seemingly stay the same) the descrition of a cheaper 1749, still the $999 remained.
Questions:
1. Anyone knows what's going on? Is 1558 Touch Screen for real or only 1749 will get the touch screen?
2. If 1558 will eventually get the touch screen, any idea how long do I have to bite nails? Will the 1558 touch screen be availble with the full-HD 1920x1080 screen?
Just bought the 3521 Inspiron touch screen. Two questions:Does the touch screen require a screen protector? Many different answers. Would like your opinion! The outside cover shows fingerprints (even with clean hands). Can the outside cover be replaced to a different color or type (that doesn't show fingerprints)?

Today 34 day after receiving the payed ultrabook no answer has been provided, the only solution is to receive a new XPS12 but DELL need anoter 50 day to try to send me another PC.
The touch sensitive eject button on my new Studio 15 laptop appears to be stuck on. When I reboot the laptop, the media control lights flash back and forth as normal. However, the CD drive immediately ejects and the eject button light stays permanently on. This all happens the second the laptop comes on - long before it boots into Vista. This makes me suspect a hardware rather than software issue.
Â
None of the other touch sensitive media controls work.
Â
I've tried cleaning the button, checking for dirt under and on the button and rebooting the laptop. I also rested it overnight.
Â
I only got the laptop on Friday.
My laptop is a Studio XPS 1645. I recently uninstalled some surplus programs and seem to also have accidentally uninstalled whatever lights up the touch buttons (e.g. volume control, pause/play, wireless on/off) What program this is and where/how i can get it back?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a dell Studio 1558 laptop. I'm extremely careful not to have liquids anywhere near my keyboard. Â However I was drinking tea and felt I was far enough back that liquids should not even reach the laptop. I was probably about a foot back. Well one of my cats nudged my arm and hit it with enough force that a few drops hit the touch pad. Â I cleaned it up. Â This morning I turn my laptop on and now my left touch pad button does not work. I figured that I probably needed to clean it. So I pried the button off gently. Â And used a little rubbing alcohol on a q-tip and cleaned it off. When I pried it up it didn't look really dirty at all. There was no residue on the inside that I could see. Â I put the button back on, and it still doesn't work. Â So now I'm wondering if enough got inside to actually cause damage or if it's just coincidental that the button stopped working at the same time? Â I used it all the time for copying stuff and scrolling. I can use all the other buttons and scroll without using it.
Should the cleaning underneath have cured it if it was the liquid? If the liquid got past the underneath of the key itself then it should have affected the whole key pad not just one key, right?
I'm not sure if mt drivers are old, but my touch screen works sometimes then completely stops working and when I try to calibrate it, it tells me that there's no N-Trig duosense hardware on my computer. It says I DO have the hardware when it's in a 'working stage' though. Every time I try to download a driver, it says 'fatal error.'
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Inspiron 13 2-in-1 I purchased shortly before the holidays. The touch screen is nice, but when I'm operating in tablet mode, nearly every button and link I tap requires 14+ taps in frustrating repetition before any one registers. The screen responds to the fact that I'm tapping with the finger graphic, but it refuses to acknowledge that I'm clicking to open something. The windows 8 start menu works just fine, only one tap required for any tile. Everything else, however, program and internet sites, requires many taps before they register. Is there a way to fix this?
Not sure if it's a Windows issue or a hardware issue. I noticed a driver recently released called "Cottonwood LCD touch re-calibration (Dell Internal Only)." Should I try it???
