View 5 RepliesI get a red X over the internet icon and my router will no longer recognize any networks. I called my ISP and the manufactuer of my Belkin router. So I went out and rought a brand new Net Gear router. Still not working. I called Net Gear and they think it's my wireless card?
Is there a way to determine for sure if its a hardware problem? Maybe I need to download a driver?
Is there a wireless switch on my laptop? Do I need to configure my new router? I'm hoping to use my Belkin router if it's just a driver problem so I can take back the new router and get my money back.

My computer went through an automatic update today and now I cannot turn on the wireless with the wireless button. Do I need updated drivers too?

I have the HP Pavilion dv7-3079wm for a few years never had an issue till lately. the wireless button will not turn on. i have tried rebooting, updating and restore. I have an HP Pavilion dm4-1150ea running Windows 7 64bit.
I bought a bluetooth audio receiver and it paired with the laptop and installed a driver. I was able to stream audio to the receiver but when I closed the laptop and later opened it, it stopped working.
I looked in device manager and the bloetooth radios were no longer there and there were no bluetooth devices under Network Adapters. They had been there previously.
I rebooted a few times and it still didn't work. I got it to work once and it coincided with putting the power lead in. However, it didn't work for long.
HP Wireless Assistant says that Bluetooth is disabled in Device Manager.
I tried downloading the latest bluetooth driver from the HP site but it won't install because bluetooth isn't running.
At some point I got a message saying that a USB device had failed. I can see a warning icon on an "Unknown Device" in the USB Controllers section of Device Manager.
I tried to do a system restore but that failed because it couldn't get access to a file.
how I can get blue tooth working again?
I am having trouble with my wireless button, it remains red/orange despite touching it and restarting my laptop several times. My laptop is an HP Pavilion DV7=1135NR, it is originally installed with Windows Vista 64bit. However, i have it reformatted and change the OS to Windows7 Ultimate (32bit). And now i the wireless button wont turn blue. And also the wireless button located in the taskbar is no longer there.
Some additional background: The same problem (wireless wont turn blue) had been recurring before i had it reformatted but then i seek assistance then to HP customer assistant, and installed atheros. the problem had fixed for a while and the same problem would recur. However, i can turn it blue once i restart the laptop or when the "WLAN disabled" message would appear in the task bar and i would immediately touch the wireless button.
i tried downloading a driver from HP but still not working. right now i am connected via ethernet cable and its such an incovenience.
I recently Upgraded my Laptop to windows 8.1. Before i was using Windows 8, in that i used Bluetooth to send files. But after upgrading to windows 8.1 Bluetooth is not working at all.

I updated the latest windows update and in Hp assistant as well.
I will start out with my laptop's system information (and I am typing this on a cell phone)It is an HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC with product number - B3K21PA#ABG. Serial number is 2CE2201C96. I have a Broadcom 4313GN 802.11b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi Adapter according to my device manager. I have recently changed my ISP and the wireless router they have provided is the Linksys E1200 model. Now, on to the problem - after a prolonged internet use (skype call or playing internet games) my laptop just stops giving me access to the internet.
And I say it like that because the internet connection icon shows that I have network access and internet connection but none of my software or browsers are able to connect to the internet. I have tried updating the driver (both by checking driver updates and by downloading the drivers manually). I have also tried system restores and everything else I could think of, short of actually doing a factory reset on the entire thing. And I should also mention - although this issue has occurred several times now since I changed ISP (and yes, I called them about it too), this current time seems to be permanent since it has been hours and it is still not working.
I am reloading my laptop and have downloaded all the wireless drivers listed on the HP support site for my machine. None of them are working for my wireless. I am running Win 7 32bit. Is there some other place I should be looking?

I had to install a new hard drive and re-install windows 7 on my Pavilion dv6. I downloaded drivers for LAN card and can get on internet with wire connected. View 7 Replies View RelatedI have the Pavilion g7-2235dx with Windows 8.1 operating system. Nearly every automatic update messes up my ability to get on the internet. The only way I can connect is to uninstall all of the updates. The icons on my desktop also stopped working. When I click on them, it goes right back to desktop. Can't pin them to the taskbar either. The ones on the taskbar won't open by clicking on them either. Have to right click and tell it to open. Also problem getting my Norton anti-virus to open. Says it working but can't open it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI tried all the (disable and enable, hard reset, and uninstall driver) solutions on the thread given, but still doesn't work. Here is a screen shot of my adapter and driver version I updated to the latest version and rolled it back and still no luck. I don't want to reseat the adapter until its my last resort.
View 3 Replies View RelatedYesterday while I was working on a spreadsheet, the left button of my trackpad on my Dell XPS 15z just mysteriously stopped working. I assumed that maybe my system was slowing down, as I tend to multitask and often will have a LOT going on at once. So I restarted, since it had been about a three days since my system was restarted. Anyway, it did no good. Still, the left button wasn't working.
So, I then pressed it SUPER hard and it started working. Today, I noticed that it was messing up again. However now, depressing the key good and hard doesn't seem to magically fix the situation. Moreover, it doesn't work at all now instead of intermittent workability.
There wasn't any sort of update or anything... I'm really confused. Right button has no issues, but clearly I need both. Not sure what I should do.
I had to upgrade my system to Window 7 Ultimate, the laptop came with regular Windows 7.
I updated all drivers and everything else works perfect except for that I cannot connect to any wireless network. No matter how close I am to a network the computer does not recognize it.
Then I finally noticed the wireless button on the keyboard being red and no matter what I do, I cannot get it to go off.
Also just noticed in Device managers a few "!" next to some items
PCI Device is not installed
Network Controller is not installed
I have an HP 2000 laptop and all of a sudden the wireless function will not work. no matter what I do the button stays orange. I do not have Wireless Assistant installed on this computer. I tried to download it from another computer and install to mine, but it stated that the version was not accepted. I have only had this computer 6 months.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have HP model G6-2284CA with Windows 8 and my bluetooth has stopped working.
The generic bluetooth device is no longer in my device manager.
I've tried downloading different drivers from the HP site for my model but they do not do anything.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers but that has also not fixed anything.
This could be due to updating drivers for my wireless card through Windows Update recently. That seems to be around the time that it stopped working. I need bluetooth to use my wireless mouse for work.
Operating system : windows 8.1 64 bit
Problem : My wifi switch buton (f12) is not working . When i press it it doesn't work and the light still white not red . How can i do to fix this problem.
I purchased an Envy 15-J108la notebook about a month ago (Windows 8.1 64). I also bought a Microsoft bluetooth mouse to use with it.
First I noticed mouse stoped working randomly, maybe 2 times a day. Sometimes it was enough to turn it off and on again to recover it, but sometimes I had to reboot.
I updated the bluetooth driver (Intel Bluetooth 4.0 Driver, 2014-01-18, Version 3.1), problem persisted but seemed to occur less frequently.
Today after installing an update for the wireless adapter the device manager reported that the Intel Bluetooth 4.0 device was faulting. Tried to dissable and re-enable but the device simply dissapeared. Now device manager reports a "Unknown USB device" with error 43, and bluetoth devices are not detected, no matter how many times I reboot.
My wireless worked fine last night. Got up this morning, turned the computer on, and the wireless does not work. Here's what I've done so far:
* Using fn+F5 I've ensured the wireless is turned on.
* When I try to connect wirelessly I get "error 651 modem not working." But the wireless works with the other twocomputers in my house, and when I hook up directly to the modem/router (Motorola 3347 from Qwest) with anEthernet cable, the Y560 works fine. So I do not think the modem is the problem.
* Tried to "auto detect" driver update using the Lenovo support, but that was useless. It did not autodetect anything.
* From the Lenovo site, it looks like the wireless drivers for the Y560 are all from March, and I got the computer in lateMay, so I should have the latest drivers installed anyway.
Acer Aspire E 15, Windows 8.1
Background (in as much detail as possible):
Earlier this week I wanted to use Pokerstars, but I was due an update (I already had it installed). I updated and loaded it up, although it seemed to lag at the log in screen, so I CTR+ALT+DEL and ended it in task manager. I reopened the program and had the same issue, so I task manager'd it again and it still didn't work. So I rebooted. When I rebooted, all of a sudden I had no option of connecting to a wireless network - only ethernet and VPN in the settings.
I have been into device manager and can see that I have a Qualcomm Atheros Driver in my network devices, although it has an amber warning with code 52 (driver unsigned).
I tried going onto Acer website and downloading the latest driver, which comes with a set up package - unfortunately this didn't work. I tried uninstalling the driver and pointing to the driver that I had downloaded manually; but every time it tells me 'You have the best driver set up for this device' and reverts back to the unsigned driver.
I have tried FN + F3 to disable and enable flight mode - no impact.
I read somewhere about updating bios settings - but there are none in the download section when I put my serial number into the Acer website.
I also tried downloading drivers from other external website and downloaded some third party program called 'Driver Assist' as the way the page was set up fooled me into thinking that was the legit download - it didn't work, and I have subsequently uninstalled it
I have only had the laptop just over a month new, and all had been working until then. Extremely unlikely to be any other spyware as the only things I have installed on here are Steam (FM15) and Pokerstars. I don't even really use this for browsing, just those two apps.
Further info - not sure if relevant but I installed the Acer WLAN + Bluetooth setup as a potential fix, and the bluetooth element seems to be functioning fine - not sure if they're on the same integrated card?
I recently degraded from windows 8 to windows 7 on my HP Pavilion g6-2288ca notebook but now the wifi button(f12) doesn't work, it stays orange.
I also have no wi-fi drivers installed due to that fact.
How can I fix this wifi button problem and is it possible to download drivers on another computer and transfer the files via USB?

The wifi button toggles from disabled to off. How do I turn on the wifi?
Sometimes the machine does not show any wireless networks and I have been able to solve it by turning on and off the hardware switch for wireless on the back of the machine. This time I can not get the machine to find any wireless networks. I am running XP. The only think different that I noticed is that MS Security Essesntials has ended support for XP.
