Right now I have a 1st generation Time Capsule that is set to work with b/g wireless adaptors because the iPod Touches in the house need to be able to connect to the 'net.
I'll be picking up an Airport Express in the near future. Will I be able to switch the Time Capsule to the 5Ghz N setting, and be able to extend the network using the Airport Express while configuring the Airport Express to broadcast to b/g adaptors?
My MBP keeps "forgetting" my wireless network at home. It will work fine for a while and then it will stop connecting and give me a connection timeout error. If I change the password on the network (WPA2) it will work fine for a while. iPhone works fine on the same network and MBP works fine at school on unsecured network. it's the last generation, right before unibody
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a USB dongle connected to the USB port on the left side of my MBP. I'm not sure which side the wireless adapter is located in the MBP, but there seems to be interference between the two as I just been having alot of problems connecting to my wireless network. Because of the lack of space on my desk, the left side of the MBP is facing toward a wall (parallel to it), so therefore the Magsafe, USB, and audio ports are facing toward the wall. I have not been able to even detect my wireless network until I decided to remove the USB dongle temporarily and rescan for wireless networks. It finally worked then! So, do you guys think there is a possibility the USB dongle is interfering with the wireless adapter built in MBP? If so, what can I do about it (the right USB port is powering a WD Passport because the left USB does not provide enough power)?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've home network with bunch of PCs on it. I've Verizon FIOS and they have provided wireless router. I've installed retail copy of OSX 10.5.6 on one of my system. Everything is working fine including wireless. It can see my existing wireless network. But when I try to connect it only allows me connecting using WEP. After I put in my security key it fails to connect. It does connect to open network in neighbourhood. Is there a way to make this work ? I've 3 other PC and all of them work fine on network. I tried restarting router but it is not making any difference.
I tried connecting using ethernet and it worked fine. I got latest updates from Apple and that worked okay too.

I have an HDX 16-1140us laptop. with the intel WIFI 5100AGN card. I could get speeds to the max in my house which is about 260 KB/s. Now my sister got a DV6-1334ca this christmas, and ever since then my speeds have gone down to 20KB/s while she gets the rest of the given bandwidth. Any ideas why or how to adjust it so i can get half the speed? we both have the same wireless card, and the router is a Linksys WRT54GC. any type of tweak i can do on this router or a program? i have a WIFI 5100AGN card and she has a 1000AGN card

I've just bought a XPS M1530 Laptop (so excited!). But I have some problem connecting to wireless networks.
My roommates can find and connect to our wireless network, while my machine cannot even find one!! It can't even create wireless networks (ad hoc)
I looked up Dell support, it said to uninstall network driver and restart windows (vista HP, SP1). I did that, after reboot, it could find the available network, but after another reboot, it again didn't work.
I'm pretty sure that nothing is wrong with hardware (since it could find once or twice). But I don know what to do.

The computer has no problem connecting with a cable, but it says it can't find Wi-Fi. I would really love to avoid restarting and restoring the computer for a fifth time if I could. View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with my e6400 with the dell 1520 WLAN card not connecting to my/any wireless networks. The wireless has randomly been disconnected in the past (I know the router/internet is still working because I have another computer that is wired; also, my neighbor's network is unprotected and I can't connect to that either.).
The only difference now is that it won't reconnect, no matter what I do. I ran the hardware diagnostics in the WLAN utility from the control panel and it passes all of them, so the card isn't broken. The problem is that it fails the "association" test under connection diagnostics. This is what it's telling me.

I just received a new Studio 15 (Vista Premium) with the Dell 1510 Wireless card and I'm unable to connect to my network using a Belkin N1 router. First let me say I'm limited in my knowledge of wireless networking but I did try troubleshooting a little without any success (Wi-Fi is turned on). When I click on "Connect To" it does pickup my network plus several others with great signal strength so the card is seeing networks but when I put my Key in it keeps coming up can't connect to my network.
Since the Studio 15 came with McAfee with it's firewall enabled I disabled it but still no connection. I even tried Safe Mode With Networking but still no success. I finally called Dell and he did some troubleshooting like having me go to Network Adapters and then to the Dell Wireless Card and Advance.
Under "Property" it was set to 802.11h+d and under "Value" it was set to "Loose 11h" but he had me change it to "Band Preference" and "Prefer 802.11g/b". It didn't make a difference but I did notice it had reverted back to the first settings when I back to that screen.
The tech gave up and transferred me higher up so the new tech says he needs to configure some settings on my Studio 15 and my Belkin Router in order for it to work but it would cost me $69.
I'm not paying Dell another $69 so can someone help me? I should state I have a Dell 1505 with their standard wireless card (not N1) and it connects with no problem.
I have a Windows 8 now 8.1 pavilion g6 laptop which hasn't been able to detect any wireless networks.
When i try to troubleshoot to find a problem it says that there is no problem.

I installed windows 7 on my new Hp 450 g1, and everything works fine except the wifi. When i open the hp connection manager it says that wifi is disabled by Device Manager.
I tried all the drivers from hp's site and none of them work.
When i open the Device Manager it shows me that it has found under the name "Other Devices" the Network Controller but there is a little triangle on it and does not let me to install any driver that i found on hp website.
I just got a Aspire 5520 from a friend. Before I restored it to factory i was able to connect to my secure wireless network. Now that i have restored it, I can connect but then the enet mangatment will connect but then disconnect. but the windows icon says its connected. but it will not get past my router or anything and if i try to acess my router from my aspire it will not load the page. my router is fine i have several other devieces connected to it that have no problem. I have checked my router settings to make sure the settings in the comp is right i have a wpa2-personal with a apk securtiy. the router itslef is a belkin n600. since this machine is not under warrenty i cann't ask acer support. I comleted a factory restore on my FW, now I cannot connect to the internet.
Network Connections only shows LAN and Bluetooth options. Wireless mecha switch is on, Smartwi utility shows the wireless LAN is on. Of course, status is disconnected.
I can't find any wireless networks around me, including my trusty linksys G that would connect flawlessly prior to the restore.
I've had my Inspiron N5030 for about 10 months now. I've been using the same wireless router for about 8 months with no problem up until a week or so ago. I started to intermittently have the limited connectivity issue. It would come and go. So I tried to unplug the wireless router and modem. After that it seemed to work okay but the next day I turned on my computer and it wasn't connected at all. It shows my network but when I try to connect it says that windows cannot connect to my network. I'm the person that set up the network so I have the correct key and code and it's worked fine for months so I'm not sure what's causing the issue. I've also tried resetting the router but that doesn't seem to work either. I have a ipod touch that's able to connect to the wireless fine though so whatever the issue is it seems to be with the laptop.

We have several Latitude E7240's on our network. They are configured with Windows 7 x64. We have been having trouble with this particular model in regards to wireless connections.
When the laptop is powered on and the user logs in, the laptop connects to the wireless network, however it is not getting an IP address from the router. It sticks at "limited connectivity", and gives itself a "169" IP. It stays that way for about 5 or so minutes then finally connects.
The WLAN drivers are already to the latest version, and to "bandaid" the issue, I have to uninstall the Wireless NIC drivers then reinstall them.
At first I was thinking it may be a router issue (Which is a Sonicwall TZ210W), but it can't be because its wireless devices of differing models have no problem connecting and getting an IP address. Also, it starts working once the drivers are reinstalled (though I'm not confident this is a permanent fix).
All the E7240's have the Dell 1506 Wireless card, and are all and originally were) on driver version 10.0.0.268, A02. Also, I have tried turned off any power management settings of the WNIC prior to the driver reinstall.
The wireless network controller isn't working and has a yellow ! in the device manager. Win7 has no idea what it is. No driver info is displayed and nothing is found when Update Driver is run.
It's definitely a software issue as I can get it working fine if I boot from a linux live CD.
