Aug 17, 2009I'm having a problem with my e6400 with the dell 1520 WLAN card not connecting to my/any wireless networks. The wireless has randomly been disconnected in the past (I know the router/internet is still working because I have another computer that is wired; also, my neighbor's network is unprotected and I can't connect to that either.).
The only difference now is that it won't reconnect, no matter what I do. I ran the hardware diagnostics in the WLAN utility from the control panel and it passes all of them, so the card isn't broken. The problem is that it fails the "association" test under connection diagnostics. This is what it's telling me.

Sep 24, 2008I just received a new Studio 15 (Vista Premium) with the Dell 1510 Wireless card and I'm unable to connect to my network using a Belkin N1 router. First let me say I'm limited in my knowledge of wireless networking but I did try troubleshooting a little without any success (Wi-Fi is turned on). When I click on "Connect To" it does pickup my network plus several others with great signal strength so the card is seeing networks but when I put my Key in it keeps coming up can't connect to my network.
Since the Studio 15 came with McAfee with it's firewall enabled I disabled it but still no connection. I even tried Safe Mode With Networking but still no success. I finally called Dell and he did some troubleshooting like having me go to Network Adapters and then to the Dell Wireless Card and Advance.
Under "Property" it was set to 802.11h+d and under "Value" it was set to "Loose 11h" but he had me change it to "Band Preference" and "Prefer 802.11g/b". It didn't make a difference but I did notice it had reverted back to the first settings when I back to that screen.
The tech gave up and transferred me higher up so the new tech says he needs to configure some settings on my Studio 15 and my Belkin Router in order for it to work but it would cost me $69.
I'm not paying Dell another $69 so can someone help me? I should state I have a Dell 1505 with their standard wireless card (not N1) and it connects with no problem.
Dell Inspiron N5030 :: Unable To Connect To Wireless Network
Oct 21, 2011I've had my Inspiron N5030 for about 10 months now. I've been using the same wireless router for about 8 months with no problem up until a week or so ago. I started to intermittently have the limited connectivity issue. It would come and go. So I tried to unplug the wireless router and modem. After that it seemed to work okay but the next day I turned on my computer and it wasn't connected at all. It shows my network but when I try to connect it says that windows cannot connect to my network. I'm the person that set up the network so I have the correct key and code and it's worked fine for months so I'm not sure what's causing the issue. I've also tried resetting the router but that doesn't seem to work either. I have a ipod touch that's able to connect to the wireless fine though so whatever the issue is it seems to be with the laptop.

Dec 28, 2013I have a HP ENVY TouchSmart M7-J010DX Laptop with Core i7 Haswell CPU and Intel Centrino Wireless N-2230 card. Product number is E0K83UAR and I'm running Windows 8.1 OS. Lately, I've experienced many occasions when the laptop fails to connect to a wireless network when other PCs in the same room connect. I should say it mostly connects, but with "limited connectivity" and no Internet access. I struggled during a week's vacation to connect and then had a problem connecting when I returned home, where I previously had no problems. And I'm having this problem on networks that previously were not a problem. I've read on this forum that many people are having similar problems. So, I'd like to upgrade the wireless/bluetooth card to something that is known to work more reliably. I assume I would have to stay in the Intel family. I saw one recommendation for an Intel AC 7260 card...

Feb 14, 2014I just got a new Thinkpad 540p but it can't consistently connect to my home wireless network. Since a day of getting it, it was able to connect on 3 separate occasions. One being the one during the initial set up which was fine. But after that it will resort to a limited access state after a few minutes as well as with the other instances that I was able to connect. The same thing happens if I try to restart it right away after connecting. It goes to limited access. If I disconnect and try to reconnect, it won't allow me to. It prompts me to a troubleshooting step which did not work at all. I've been trying all day and night to look up solutions but with no clear one ....
This one runs on Windows 7 btw.... The wireless adapter is just a 2x2 11b/g/n wireless lan m.2 adapter... updated drivers and everything. Also, none of our other devices such as mobile phones and an HP desktop have problems connecting.

The problem is, since day 1,every few minutes the internet stops working. It shows as connected, the router is working, other connected devices run as intended and everything's fine. But internet doesn't work on my laptop. It says "Could not connect to the network". I have tried doing the "keep wifi on during sleep" etc. but nothing works. It just stops working after a while even though I am using the laptop, it just suddenly stops. It even shows as connected, and packets are being received but internet or any application over the internet will not work untill I disconnect and reconnect.

I can connect with other wireless devices and my laptop has good signal strength of the network. I was hiding the SSID but I turn it back on. This did not fix the problem. I had an access list set up in the router but turned this feature off. This did not fix the problem. I turn off my Norton firewall. This did not fix the problem. When I ran the update driver, it said the drivers were up to date. When I ran the diagnostics on the adapter, it said the network connection was not connected to the adapter.

Feb 17, 2009I have a Dell Precision M4400 with the 1510 wireless card. I have a question regarding my wifi card.
My school's wifi only shows up as one access point in the connection manager, but if I scan for wireless signals it shows several channels. The problem I am having is it seems quite random, depending on the signal strength I am guessing, my laptop connects to one of the B channels instead of the G ones.
If I go to the Driver Properties in the Device Manager, I can force it to choose A first, but not G instead B. Does anyone know a workaround to make it choose G first instead of B/G? Also,
I hate installing any Dell software that is not necessary, specially the Dell Wifi connection software since it's 300+ MB install, but does anyone who does use it know if it would allow me to specify G over B?

Mar 18, 2009I'm completely unable to get this laptop to connect to a Linksys WRT150N wireless router.
Under a/b/g the connection is no problem. Under Wireless-N, it sees the SSID, but can't connect to it.
I'm using the latest driver from the looks of it. 7.6.0.168 and downloaded it right from the Dell support page.
The router is setup as
Wireless-N Only
Radio Band: Auto
Wide Channel: Auto
Standard Channel: Auto .....

Nov 23, 2008I've just bought a XPS M1530 Laptop (so excited!). But I have some problem connecting to wireless networks.
My roommates can find and connect to our wireless network, while my machine cannot even find one!! It can't even create wireless networks (ad hoc)
I looked up Dell support, it said to uninstall network driver and restart windows (vista HP, SP1). I did that, after reboot, it could find the available network, but after another reboot, it again didn't work.
I'm pretty sure that nothing is wrong with hardware (since it could find once or twice). But I don know what to do.
