Does wireless N really make that much of a difference to e G network?
Anyone tried changing the G card in a 1350 for an N? Anything to be aware of or avoid?
Are all 3 wires in the 1350 (sales person trying to sell me the N card claims they will be).
I recently picked up a used d630. It currently has two 512 dimms in it. Do I need 2gb or 4gb? I know Windows XP won't use all 4gb.
If I do upgrade to just 2gb. Should I use 2x1gb or just get 1x2b and leave the other 512 dimm in there for now??
I wanna switch from my factory hard drive to a 7200 500gb 3.0 gb/s WD hard drive. Will I notice a dramatic difference in the performance of my computer. Also, can I use recovery discs or my factory reformat dvd to make this new drive bootable?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've just bought a XPS M1530 Laptop (so excited!). But I have some problem connecting to wireless networks.
My roommates can find and connect to our wireless network, while my machine cannot even find one!! It can't even create wireless networks (ad hoc)
I looked up Dell support, it said to uninstall network driver and restart windows (vista HP, SP1). I did that, after reboot, it could find the available network, but after another reboot, it again didn't work.
I'm pretty sure that nothing is wrong with hardware (since it could find once or twice). But I don know what to do.
System configuration:
Core 2 dua 2.5GHz
Ram: 4GB
Graphic :Geforce 8600gt 256mb
Hard: 320GB
Wireless: Dell Wireless
OS: Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1

I'm having a problem with my e6400 with the dell 1520 WLAN card not connecting to my/any wireless networks. The wireless has randomly been disconnected in the past (I know the router/internet is still working because I have another computer that is wired; also, my neighbor's network is unprotected and I can't connect to that either.).
The only difference now is that it won't reconnect, no matter what I do. I ran the hardware diagnostics in the WLAN utility from the control panel and it passes all of them, so the card isn't broken. The problem is that it fails the "association" test under connection diagnostics. This is what it's telling me.

I just received a new Studio 15 (Vista Premium) with the Dell 1510 Wireless card and I'm unable to connect to my network using a Belkin N1 router. First let me say I'm limited in my knowledge of wireless networking but I did try troubleshooting a little without any success (Wi-Fi is turned on). When I click on "Connect To" it does pickup my network plus several others with great signal strength so the card is seeing networks but when I put my Key in it keeps coming up can't connect to my network.
Since the Studio 15 came with McAfee with it's firewall enabled I disabled it but still no connection. I even tried Safe Mode With Networking but still no success. I finally called Dell and he did some troubleshooting like having me go to Network Adapters and then to the Dell Wireless Card and Advance.
Under "Property" it was set to 802.11h+d and under "Value" it was set to "Loose 11h" but he had me change it to "Band Preference" and "Prefer 802.11g/b". It didn't make a difference but I did notice it had reverted back to the first settings when I back to that screen.
The tech gave up and transferred me higher up so the new tech says he needs to configure some settings on my Studio 15 and my Belkin Router in order for it to work but it would cost me $69.
I'm not paying Dell another $69 so can someone help me? I should state I have a Dell 1505 with their standard wireless card (not N1) and it connects with no problem.
I continuously have to reset my wireless network adapter on my Inspiron 17R. This normally happens about 5-10 minutes after startup.
View 1 Replies View Related I've had my Inspiron N5030 for about 10 months now. I've been using the same wireless router for about 8 months with no problem up until a week or so ago. I started to intermittently have the limited connectivity issue. It would come and go. So I tried to unplug the wireless router and modem. After that it seemed to work okay but the next day I turned on my computer and it wasn't connected at all. It shows my network but when I try to connect it says that windows cannot connect to my network. I'm the person that set up the network so I have the correct key and code and it's worked fine for months so I'm not sure what's causing the issue. I've also tried resetting the router but that doesn't seem to work either. I have a ipod touch that's able to connect to the wireless fine though so whatever the issue is it seems to be with the laptop.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have several Latitude E7240's on our network. They are configured with Windows 7 x64. We have been having trouble with this particular model in regards to wireless connections.
When the laptop is powered on and the user logs in, the laptop connects to the wireless network, however it is not getting an IP address from the router. It sticks at "limited connectivity", and gives itself a "169" IP. It stays that way for about 5 or so minutes then finally connects.
The WLAN drivers are already to the latest version, and to "bandaid" the issue, I have to uninstall the Wireless NIC drivers then reinstall them.
At first I was thinking it may be a router issue (Which is a Sonicwall TZ210W), but it can't be because its wireless devices of differing models have no problem connecting and getting an IP address. Also, it starts working once the drivers are reinstalled (though I'm not confident this is a permanent fix).
All the E7240's have the Dell 1506 Wireless card, and are all and originally were) on driver version 10.0.0.268, A02. Also, I have tried turned off any power management settings of the WNIC prior to the driver reinstall.
I have an HDX 16-1140us laptop. with the intel WIFI 5100AGN card. I could get speeds to the max in my house which is about 260 KB/s. Now my sister got a DV6-1334ca this christmas, and ever since then my speeds have gone down to 20KB/s while she gets the rest of the given bandwidth. Any ideas why or how to adjust it so i can get half the speed? we both have the same wireless card, and the router is a Linksys WRT54GC. any type of tweak i can do on this router or a program? i have a WIFI 5100AGN card and she has a 1000AGN card

I'll be picking up an Airport Express in the near future. Will I be able to switch the Time Capsule to the 5Ghz N setting, and be able to extend the network using the Airport Express while configuring the Airport Express to broadcast to b/g adaptors?
I have a USB dongle connected to the USB port on the left side of my MBP. I'm not sure which side the wireless adapter is located in the MBP, but there seems to be interference between the two as I just been having alot of problems connecting to my wireless network. Because of the lack of space on my desk, the left side of the MBP is facing toward a wall (parallel to it), so therefore the Magsafe, USB, and audio ports are facing toward the wall. I have not been able to even detect my wireless network until I decided to remove the USB dongle temporarily and rescan for wireless networks. It finally worked then! So, do you guys think there is a possibility the USB dongle is interfering with the wireless adapter built in MBP? If so, what can I do about it (the right USB port is powering a WD Passport because the left USB does not provide enough power)?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy laptop was working fine this morning. I took a nap and when I went to use the computer again, it can't find the wireless network. The network icon in the system tray is all gray bars with a red X through them. When I hover over it, the pop up says, "Wireless Network Connection Radio Disabled." Only two things could have changed: my daughter might have used the computer (using a non-administrator account) and Comcast cable might have gone out.

Dell (Broadcom) Wireless 1520 Wireless-N WLAN Mini-Card
Netgear wireless router, Windows Firewall, Avast free anti-virus (have been using all three for years)
This is what I've tried:
-Verified that cable TV and phone are still working.
-Reset modem and then router then restarted laptop. (This is what I do any time the cable goes out and it usually works.)
-Verified that iPad and iPhone can see network and use it.
-Plugged laptop in through router and can see and use network.
Therefore it has to do with the wireless.
-In Network and Sharing Center, clicked set up a new connection or network and selected connect to the Internet > wireless. No connections available.
-Checked system restore to see if there's a restore point recently that would indicate my kid installed something. (Child of course denies using computer. ) Last restore point was Windows update five days ago.
-Restarted in safe mode, was unable to see wireless network.
-Verified that Device Manager sees wireless adaptor and says it is working.
-Deleted and reinstalled driver in safe mode.
-Deleted and reinstalled driver from latest downloaded version. This also deleted all existing network connections listed under manage wireless networks.
-Turned off wireless phones.
-Disabled LAN adaptor and retried all of the above.
-Tried FN F2 which pulls up an image of two radio towers. The one on the right, that looks like it's a tower without a signal, is highlighted and has a circle with a slash through it over top of it.
-Ran through troubleshooter numerous times.
-Restarted computer numerous times during this testing.
-Went into Windows Mobility Center to turn wireless on but button is grayed out.
In Windows Mobility Center clicked on "launch" under radio control options and selected All the Radios (WiFi was the only one not grayed out).
In Windows Mobility Center, found that the above was still an option so it appears WMC doesn't see that they're turned on.
-Updated the firmware on wireless router.
-Update driver for Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adaptor
-Manually added wireless network through Network and Sharing Center.
-Verified my antivirus software is working and is up to date.
-Changed security options on router so there was no security. (Of course changed it back.)
How to update the firmware on the wireless adaptor card if there is any.
I still have a gray wireless network connection icon in the system tray with a red X through it. The pop up still says wireless network connection radio disabled. I am unable to connect to the Interenet through the wireless, even in safe mode. This is my work computer (I own my own business)Â and in order to use the wired connection I have to sit on the floor in a corner. It's very inconvenient, not to mention uncomfortable. (My child does not usually have access to my computer but our home computer is down and I let her use it a few days ago and forgot to turn off the guest account.
My wife's Studio 17 laptop developed an issue today. Sometime between noon and 3pm, the wireless card in her computer stopped working. Everything in hardware diagnostics indicates that everything is functioning...but it will not connect to our home network. I have troubleshot the wireless system...and everything on the router is working normally. When I try to connect to the wireless network, the computer tries to connect, but eventfully just says it cannot connect.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've home network with bunch of PCs on it. I've Verizon FIOS and they have provided wireless router. I've installed retail copy of OSX 10.5.6 on one of my system. Everything is working fine including wireless. It can see my existing wireless network. But when I try to connect it only allows me connecting using WEP. After I put in my security key it fails to connect. It does connect to open network in neighbourhood. Is there a way to make this work ? I've 3 other PC and all of them work fine on network. I tried restarting router but it is not making any difference.
I tried connecting using ethernet and it worked fine. I got latest updates from Apple and that worked okay too.
I have had this problem a couple times, and each time I had to restart my entire computer and reinstall everything before I could connect again. The computer has no problem connecting with a cable, but it says it can't find Wi-Fi. I would really love to avoid restarting and restoring the computer for a fifth time if I could. I don't know the specifics of the computer, I think it might be a 14z Touch...

do get the fact that speed through wireless is slower than with wire, but losing 50Mbps is a bit too much!

I installed windows 7 on my new Hp 450 g1, and everything works fine except the wifi. When i open the hp connection manager it says that wifi is disabled by Device Manager.

When i open the Device Manager it shows me that it has found under the name "Other Devices" the Network Controller but there is a little triangle on it and does not let me to install any driver that i found on hp website.
I just got a Aspire 5520 from a friend. Before I restored it to factory i was able to connect to my secure wireless network. Now that i have restored it, I can connect but then the enet mangatment will connect but then disconnect. but the windows icon says its connected. but it will not get past my router or anything and if i try to acess my router from my aspire it will not load the page. my router is fine i have several other devieces connected to it that have no problem. I have checked my router settings to make sure the settings in the comp is right i have a wpa2-personal with a apk securtiy. the router itslef is a belkin n600. since this machine is not under warrenty i cann't ask acer support.
