I have a studio 15 and I can no longer connect by going wireless. I can connect directly. I see the network but when I try to connect through the wireless card, nothing. I've run the Dell diagnostics and it shows nothing of concern. I didn't know if my wireless card is bad or how to test it or if there could be another reason.
I just received a new Studio 15 (Vista Premium) with the Dell 1510 Wireless card and I'm unable to connect to my network using a Belkin N1 router. First let me say I'm limited in my knowledge of wireless networking but I did try troubleshooting a little without any success (Wi-Fi is turned on). When I click on "Connect To" it does pickup my network plus several others with great signal strength so the card is seeing networks but when I put my Key in it keeps coming up can't connect to my network.
Since the Studio 15 came with McAfee with it's firewall enabled I disabled it but still no connection. I even tried Safe Mode With Networking but still no success. I finally called Dell and he did some troubleshooting like having me go to Network Adapters and then to the Dell Wireless Card and Advance.
Under "Property" it was set to 802.11h+d and under "Value" it was set to "Loose 11h" but he had me change it to "Band Preference" and "Prefer 802.11g/b". It didn't make a difference but I did notice it had reverted back to the first settings when I back to that screen.
The tech gave up and transferred me higher up so the new tech says he needs to configure some settings on my Studio 15 and my Belkin Router in order for it to work but it would cost me $69.
I'm not paying Dell another $69 so can someone help me? I should state I have a Dell 1505 with their standard wireless card (not N1) and it connects with no problem.
I have a Dell Precision M4400 with the 1510 wireless card. I have a question regarding my wifi card.
My school's wifi only shows up as one access point in the connection manager, but if I scan for wireless signals it shows several channels. The problem I am having is it seems quite random, depending on the signal strength I am guessing, my laptop connects to one of the B channels instead of the G ones.
If I go to the Driver Properties in the Device Manager, I can force it to choose A first, but not G instead B. Does anyone know a workaround to make it choose G first instead of B/G? Also,
I hate installing any Dell software that is not necessary, specially the Dell Wifi connection software since it's 300+ MB install, but does anyone who does use it know if it would allow me to specify G over B?
I'm having a problem with my e6400 with the dell 1520 WLAN card not connecting to my/any wireless networks. The wireless has randomly been disconnected in the past (I know the router/internet is still working because I have another computer that is wired; also, my neighbor's network is unprotected and I can't connect to that either.).
The only difference now is that it won't reconnect, no matter what I do. I ran the hardware diagnostics in the WLAN utility from the control panel and it passes all of them, so the card isn't broken. The problem is that it fails the "association" test under connection diagnostics. This is what it's telling me.
"Move closer to the wireless router/AP for the network you are trying to test.
I bought a inspiron 17 series 5000, but the signal is poor and I cannot connect to internet mostly of time, I have a cisco router, I read that could be that my router is not compatible, is true?
not able to connect to my 5.2GHz, I have no problem connecting to the 2.4GHz it is windows 8.1 and Qualcomm Atheros Qcwb335 card. My windows 7 has no broblem connecting to both
I'm using Windows7 on Dell vostro1500, I'm unable to connect to Internet through wireless modem router, let me know whether I need to Install any driver separately for the same. If yes Please provide me the link for for the drivers.
I've had my Inspiron N5030 for about 10 months now. I've been using the same wireless router for about 8 months with no problem up until a week or so ago. I started to intermittently have the limited connectivity issue. It would come and go. So I tried to unplug the wireless router and modem. After that it seemed to work okay but the next day I turned on my computer and it wasn't connected at all. It shows my network but when I try to connect it says that windows cannot connect to my network. I'm the person that set up the network so I have the correct key and code and it's worked fine for months so I'm not sure what's causing the issue. I've also tried resetting the router but that doesn't seem to work either. I have a ipod touch that's able to connect to the wireless fine though so whatever the issue is it seems to be with the laptop.
I am unable to connect wireless network through my Dell Inspiron 15R(5520) laptop.A red cross sign is shown in front of wireless network name and show the message "This network is not connected with present settings". I am not change settings of wireless connection. Previously on same settings wireless network is connected.
why Dell keeps selling the inspiron 15r models having the faulty wireless-n 1030 card?
I've just opened the new laptop, havent installed any applications or changed any settings, only updated to the latest wifi drivers and IT just does not work.
On my DV8000 I cannot get the Intel Wireless to connect to my router at home, which confuses me because my wife can connect to it just fine, except she's using a broadcom chip. My router at work is the exact same model and setup as the one I have at home and I have no problems connection to it.
My MBP keeps "forgetting" my wireless network at home. It will work fine for a while and then it will stop connecting and give me a connection timeout error. If I change the password on the network (WPA2) it will work fine for a while. iPhone works fine on the same network and MBP works fine at school on unsecured network. it's the last generation, right before unibody
I have a Dell Inspiron 1764 about a month ago it started having internet problems. I have ruled out the problems being related to the actual internet service. I have excellent wifi signal and yet my laptop constantly connects and disconnects. The length of time varies. Some days I get to be on the net while others I dont at all. I have run diagnostics, downloaded darn near every update imaginable.
I have a HP dv6-1133ea (in my sig). It has the broadcom wireless card. It is running windows 7 64 bit.
Just recently the wireless has started acting up. It can see my home network fine but just won't connect properly saying "no network connectivity" etc. I know that the network is fine as my partner's vaio (and incidentally my old Toshiba A30 that I am using to write this post) can connect fine.
I have tried re-installing the vista 64 driver from HP's website but that makes no difference. Turning the wireless on and off or restarting also doesn't change things. I have also tried re-adding the network key but that did nothing too.
Has anyone else had this problem or have any ideas what to do?
I installed Elementary OS on my notebook the other day. I can't connect to the internet via wireless. The problem persisted on Debian and OpenSUSE. Also, I've seen that HP provides drivers for SUSE, but I can't install them on OpenSUSE.
I have a Pavilion dm4-2165dx with Windows 7 64 bit. I have not made any changes to the laptop or the network. All of a sudden today I could not connect to my home wireless connection eventhough all of the other machines in my house can still connect without a problem.
My wireless connection light is on and it is blue. I can still connect to the internet through wired ethernet into my router.
I tried a windows roll back and that didn't work either. The wireless drivers that are listed in device manager are:
Intel(r) Wifi Link 1000 BGN 14.1.1.3 Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter 6.1.7600.16385 Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter 2 6.1.7600.16385
I have been dealing with this for a while now, and it just happened out of no where. I turned on my computer one morning and it wouldnt allow me to connect to my wifi. I have tried EVERYTHING. My computer does allow me to connect an ethernet cord to it and the router and use the internet that way. I know it's not the router because I use the internet on my iPhone and tablet. When I attempt to connect to internet it has a red X where the wireless icon used to be, now the icon looks like a computer screen instead the the little bars. When I tap my wireless button on my key pad a message comes up and notifies me that i just turned my wireless connection off, but no matter if it's off or on that little button always has the orange light on. I can't figure out whats going on
I just bought my first laptop and it's a DV6-1253ca itz pretty sick. I have one problem though, when I try to connect to my home network, it says im connected but I can't go on the internet or sign into msn anything related to connecting to the internet i cant do. I disconnect and reconnect and it only sometimes work. This also happens when I close the lid~put the computer to sleep and i turn in bk on again, it connects to my home network by itself but still I can't go on the internet.
I have been looking for a device that functions both as a NAS and a print server for a USB printer. My printer (and NAS-to-be) are in a different room than my current wireless router. I have a Windows 7 - based PC.
So...
I would like to be able to connect the Time Capsule to my existing wireless network.
I would like to be able to back up files over the wireless network (probably using Windows 7's included backup software).
I would like to be able to print over the wireless network. My printer is a Samsung ML-2510 printer.
I had to upgrade my system to Window 7 Ultimate, the laptop came with regular Windows 7.
I updated all drivers and everything else works perfect except for that I cannot connect to any wireless network. No matter how close I am to a network the computer does not recognize it.
Then I finally noticed the wireless button on the keyboard being red and no matter what I do, I cannot get it to go off.
Also just noticed in Device managers a few "!" next to some items
PCI Device is not installed Network Controller is not installed
I have a new HP EliteBook Folio 1040 G1 running Windows 7 64 bit. The computer can see wireless networks, but when I try to connect to them I get a pop up saying "Wireless: assocaiting" followed by one saying "Wireless: disconnected" and the connection never works. This happens no matter which wireless network I connect to. I know the networks and passwords are correct, because both my iPad and phone can connect to them without issues.
I have updated all drivers via Windows Update and also the SP Support Assistant. I have tried uninstalling the wireless driver and allowing Windows to discover and install from scratch. Nothing seems to work.
The 1640/45/47 owners and the m1330 owners have their respective replacements threads. There has also been a concern about getting Alienware instead of XPS thread. So I created this thread because the Studio XPS 1340 has reached EOL and is no longer offered as a replacement. Thus, I would like 1340 owners' help in tracking and monitoring replacements.
Please specify experiences regarding:What are the specs of your current XPS 1340?What system was received in lieu of the SXPS 1340? Specs? New or Refurb? At what point were you aware of the system you were going to receive? How long did the systems' exchange process take?Did you attempt escalation or any form of negotiation? Are you happy with your replacement? .........
I am going to Wales in about two weeks for university and i am looking for the AC unit for the 1340 Can any 1340 UK users please tell me which model their power brick is? or where i can buy them. In Canada we have best buy and etc. What type of big box stores sells dell accessories in the UK.
I had to to a complete fresh reinstall. The DVDs have no software for the webcam nor does the website. Just spent an hour with dell chat and remote checking and they cant figure it out.
They are sending someone out to replace the webcam - I think they are wrong - its a Vista 64/creative/Dell softare/driver issue. I had to do a reinstall after a BSOD. The camera worked fine until the BSOD.
I had been running Windows 7 for 2 weeks on my 13 and I kept on getting lockups. It would just freeze up. Only bios functions would work.
I had dell replace the motherboad, heatsinks and processor and it still locked up, the laptop was running really hot too.
I spoke to dell and they asked if I was running windows 7, I said yes, they said the laptop did not support 7 (yeah right) and I was to test under vista. So I reinstalled vista and the freezes totally stopped. Been running for one day solid now without a hitch.
I think there must be some driver conflicts running 7 which makes the laptop over heat.
