I've tried my USB modem, it's not supported by Leopard, and there are no up to date drivers that work. Apple have told me they don't support USB modems for this model (that's what they've told me anyway).
Just tried a Netopia ethernet router and although the Mac sees the connection, it still isn't connecting to the net.
My ISP is Tiscali and I'm in the UK. Any recommendations for a Modem/Wireless Router that will work with a MacBook Pro/Leopard set up, and Tiscali are gratefully received.
I didn't expect this to be difficult, but after four days and two modems I still can't get my MBP online.
I have an HP G60 Notebook PC with Windows Vista Home Premium, it's about 4 years old. I recently got a new Cisco Linksys E1500 wireless router, which is connected to my home computer. My laptop shows that it is connected to the home network, but it will not connect to the internet. Other laptops in the house are able to connect to the network and the internet. Mine seems to be the only one not working. Why isn't it working? What do I need to do to fix it?
I've run network diagnostics. It says "A problem with you network router or broadband modem might be preventing an internet connection." I've unplugged both of these and tried again. It didn't work! I've also connected my laptop straight to the modem and it still didn't connect to the internet. I've tried resetting the network adapter. My IP settings are set to automatic.
My internet connection wasn't a problem before last week (when I got a new router).
why Dell keeps selling the inspiron 15r models having the faulty wireless-n 1030 card?
I've just opened the new laptop, havent installed any applications or changed any settings, only updated to the latest wifi drivers and IT just does not work.
Since getting my new v13 notebook. Problems with unable to search for wireless router . Wifi icons not out at time. Have to restart few times to be able to have the search for wireless device. When able to connect, notebook will hang upon surfing net. Notebook always hang and have to press off button to restart.

So I went out and rought a brand new Net Gear router. Still not working. I called Net Gear and they think it's my wireless card?
Is there a way to determine for sure if its a hardware problem? Maybe I need to download a driver?
Is there a wireless switch on my laptop? Do I need to configure my new router? I'm hoping to use my Belkin router if it's just a driver problem so I can take back the new router and get my money back.

I recently downgraded my Windows 8 HP 15-g029wm Notebook to Windows 7 Ultimate. Of course this has caused issues with drivers, and the Windows 7 64-bit drivers listed on HP's website for my laptop do not work properly. Currently the laptop does not recognize any USB device and I am unable to connect to the Internet, making it difficult to run any diagnostics to obtain information needed to find the best drivers for my system. Where can I find drivers for my laptop that will allow it to function properly?
I own an HP Envy dv6 Notebook PC, MOdel No.2CE243OCYT. It has an Atheros AR9485 802.11 b:g:n WiFi adapter. There is an HP update for that adapter, but when I updated it, I was unable to connect to the internet. I realize that this WiFi adapter is only for 2.5G. I had to refresh my laptop, then I had internet access again. I have not tried that driver update again, but TWC just updated my Cable modem to dual band using the 2.5G and 5G bands.I am afraid to install the Atheros update in my lapotop again because I don't want to go though the hassle of re-installing all my software pd[rograms again.Is there a dual band WiFi adapter that HP recommends, and is it easy to install?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using HP Compaq 15 a00t2u, windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. I'm not able to connect to the internet via WiFi. Everytime I connect, it says,"no network access." There's a yellow triangle over the WiFi icon. Windows diagonsed it but failed to correct it. A message appears " Wireless Network Connection doesn't have a valid IP address. At times, it fixes the issue but within seconds, the problem again hops up.I am able to connect my mobile and other devices via same router. Also, when I switch on my mobile's Wifi Tethering, laptop connects to the network easily without any issue.

I have excellent wifi signal and yet my laptop constantly connects and disconnects. The length of time varies. Some days I get to be on the net while others I dont at all. I have run diagnostics, downloaded darn near every update imaginable.

I have tried EVERYTHING. My computer does allow me to connect an ethernet cord to it and the router and use the internet that way. I know it's not the router because I use the internet on my iPhone and tablet. When I attempt to connect to internet it has a red X where the wireless icon used to be, now the icon looks like a computer screen instead the the little bars. When I tap my wireless button on my key pad a message comes up and notifies me that i just turned my wireless connection off, but no matter if it's off or on that little button always has the orange light on. I can't figure out whats going on
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just received a new Studio 15 (Vista Premium) with the Dell 1510 Wireless card and I'm unable to connect to my network using a Belkin N1 router. First let me say I'm limited in my knowledge of wireless networking but I did try troubleshooting a little without any success (Wi-Fi is turned on). When I click on "Connect To" it does pickup my network plus several others with great signal strength so the card is seeing networks but when I put my Key in it keeps coming up can't connect to my network.
Since the Studio 15 came with McAfee with it's firewall enabled I disabled it but still no connection. I even tried Safe Mode With Networking but still no success. I finally called Dell and he did some troubleshooting like having me go to Network Adapters and then to the Dell Wireless Card and Advance.
Under "Property" it was set to 802.11h+d and under "Value" it was set to "Loose 11h" but he had me change it to "Band Preference" and "Prefer 802.11g/b". It didn't make a difference but I did notice it had reverted back to the first settings when I back to that screen.
The tech gave up and transferred me higher up so the new tech says he needs to configure some settings on my Studio 15 and my Belkin Router in order for it to work but it would cost me $69.
I'm not paying Dell another $69 so can someone help me? I should state I have a Dell 1505 with their standard wireless card (not N1) and it connects with no problem.
I just bought my first laptop and it's a DV6-1253ca itz pretty sick. I have one problem though, when I try to connect to my home network, it says im connected but I can't go on the internet or sign into msn anything related to connecting to the internet i cant do. I disconnect and reconnect and it only sometimes work. This also happens when I close the lid~put the computer to sleep and i turn in bk on again, it connects to my home network by itself but still I can't go on the internet.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've had my Inspiron N5030 for about 10 months now. I've been using the same wireless router for about 8 months with no problem up until a week or so ago. I started to intermittently have the limited connectivity issue. It would come and go. So I tried to unplug the wireless router and modem. After that it seemed to work okay but the next day I turned on my computer and it wasn't connected at all. It shows my network but when I try to connect it says that windows cannot connect to my network. I'm the person that set up the network so I have the correct key and code and it's worked fine for months so I'm not sure what's causing the issue. I've also tried resetting the router but that doesn't seem to work either. I have a ipod touch that's able to connect to the wireless fine though so whatever the issue is it seems to be with the laptop.

I have 3 thinkpads that after a fresh reload are unable to connect to wireless networks. I have gone through and installed the different wireless drivers on the lenovo support website.I have gone through several steps of similar problems others have had but it hasn't made a difference.

The realtek network -ethernet adapter and communications LAN driver.I have installed and removed each wireless adapter available

On a side note in the Device manager screen there is a "Network Controller" alert saying no driver installed for this device. I have determined it is some Realtek device but beyond that I am lost.
I downgraded from windows 8.1 to 7 Ultimate.
Although, I just can't find a internet driver for my laptop model. I know there is one. I've seen HP experts provide drivers to other people on the forum while they downgraded as well just like me.

I have successfully turned on Internet sharing from System Preferences -> Sharing -> Internet Sharing.
Under Internet Sharing, I selected:
- Share your connection from: AirPort
- To computers using: Ethernet

Everything else I own workes fine over wi-fi on my Netgear router (Android tablet and smartphone, HP Windows Vista laptop, etc.).
I took my G580 laptop to McDonald's this morning and it connects to their wi-fi easily.
I have an Inspiron 1720. When I purchased the laptop, it was on Windows Vista but with all of the head aches I've been getting while using Vista, I decided to switch back to XP. I got almost all drivers for my laptop except for the Modem Device on High Definition Audio Bus driver.

I have a Belkin N1 with WPA2 running a 50Mb cable modem... I seem to have terrible wireless throughput perhaps max 300K but when I plug into the WAN port I get the full portion... about 47000k.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Studio XPS 13 (aka. 1340) with the stock wireless-n card. It is connected to my wireless-n D-Link DIR-655 router. In my Network Sharing Center, the connected speed only shows 130mbps.
Im pretty sure the DIR-655 is capable of 300mbps speeds. In the router config, I have it set to automatically use 20/40mhz.
Not sure if there are other config options I should be modifying.
Anyone know if it is possible to get 300mbps out of my Studio XPS 13?
My laptop constantly loses connection to my wireless router and I'm forced to use the windows troubleshooting tool to hook up again. This can happen over and over again multiple times over the course of an hour or so. I'm using an Xfinity wireless router and have several other devices hooked up to it wirelessly that do not drop connection. These include iPhones, iPod touch, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Mac notebook. And no, they are not all accessing the wireless at the same time. I've reinstalled/updated the drivers, adjusted my power saving settings, restored the system to its factory settings -- basically everything on the troubleshooting list.
