Dell :: E6400 Network Disconnects

Aug 13, 2009

I have an E6400 running Vista Business. Whenever I let the computer idle and the screen turns off, my wired network connection disconnects. I want to prevent this from happening. I made sure it's not going to sleep.

I've checked every option I can think of including the power options in the control panel and the device properties. I even went into BIOS to see if there anything thing that was doing this.

Lenovo Yoga 2 14 Flex :: Periodically Disconnects From Network On WiFi?

Dec 21, 2009

My brand new Flex 2 14 periodically disconnects from the network on Wi-Fi.  This is pretty unacceptable.  Other PC's in the house are not experiencing the problem, so it's difficult to blame the router.,

I have a Broadcom 802.11N Network Adapter device with driver version 6.30.223.201, which is the latest on the Lenovo site.  I am running Windows 8.1, as provided on the system.  I've installed Windows updates and some other software, but have not otherwise changed the OS.

I have seen other users with similar problems, but no fixes for Broadcom.

Dell :: E6400 Problem: Won't Connect To Wireless Network

Aug 17, 2009

I'm having a problem with my e6400 with the dell 1520 WLAN card not connecting to my/any wireless networks. The wireless has randomly been disconnected in the past (I know the router/internet is still working because I have another computer that is wired; also, my neighbor's network is unprotected and I can't connect to that either.).

The only difference now is that it won't reconnect, no matter what I do. I ran the hardware diagnostics in the WLAN utility from the control panel and it passes all of them, so the card isn't broken. The problem is that it fails the "association" test under connection diagnostics. This is what it's telling me.

"Move closer to the wireless router/AP for the network you are trying to test.

I'm sure that the problem is with the laptop cause I tried it on different networks and tried different devices on the same network.

Dell :: M4400 Ethernet Adapter Disconnects When Idle On AC Power

Mar 11, 2009

If I leave my M4400 idle with Windows (Vista Ultimate 32-bit) locked and the screensaver on for any length of time (e.g. 20 minutes), then the network card goes into power-saving mode even while on AC power, reducing the connection speed from 1Gbps to 100Mbps. I can see this because the colour of the LED on the port changes. The reduction in speed causes a brief disconnection from the network. When I unlock Windows, there is another brief disconnection as it reverts to 1Gbps, and this causes instant messaging applications to log out.

If I go to the Link Speed tab on the network card's properties in Device Manager and force it to 1Gbps instead of Auto Negotiation, it warns me that power-saving features will be disabled, but then I don't experience the problem and it never disconnects. "Reduce link speed during battery operation" is unticked, but this should not apply to AC power anyway. I've tried upgrading the driver to 9.50.14.2, A01 (released on 24/02/2009) but the problem still happens.

Does anyone else experience this?

I have used 3 smartphones already all different models and they all exhibit the same behavior on both the usb 3 ports. But the smartphones worked fine when used with other computers.

HP Pavilion 17-e020dx Notebook...

My wifi disconnects many times a day.  Every other day the wifi adapter cannot find any router signals at all. It's been happeneing since new.  I gave up on HP support as they never fixed ths issue and now the warranty has run out.  At any rate I can get along by turning Wifi off/on when it drops connection, and rebooting the laptop when the adapter fails completely.  Many posts indicate that a new adapter fixes the issue, but HP won't approve one.  Naturally I am not going to buy HP again.

Lenovo P/Y/Z Series :: WiFi Disconnects Just After Waking Up - Reconnects After 4-5 Minutes

Dec 30, 2012

I purchased the Lenovo Z580 laptop last month. It is a very good laptop, very silent and well built. Coupled with Windows 8 (64 bit), its a very new experience all together, especially the uptime after restart, connectivity etc. Superfast!

I've been traveling around the world offlate and after I was back home recently, uunfortunately, I'm facing a wired problem with the Wifi since then.

Nature of the problem: After restart, sleep, turn PC on:

1/ Wifi shows full signal status at the start screen.
2/ I enter password to login and it takes to W8 start screen. I then goto the desktop mode.
3/ When I launch a browser I can't connect to internet but the wifi status says 'Internet access'. But after few seconds, I see grey wireless symbol (without any signal bar) with a star on the left corner of the wifi symbol (Not connected mode).
4/ The network I connect to is no longer visible. Only 2 networks are detected. One is an open network and the other one is a different network. Usually several networks are within the range when I'm connected to my network.
5/ After 4-5 minutes, everything becomes normal i.e. the wifi adapter connects to the network.

I've tried router/modem power cycle, disable/enable wireless network adapter and they haven't solved the problem yet. Also noticed something in the Wi-Fi Status (wireless adapter settings window) accessed via Control Panel. Speed initially was 39.0Mbps and eventually changes to 72.0Mbps, drops to 65.0Mbps...

I don't have this problem with the other laptop and tablet I own.

Dell :: Studio XPS 16 Network

Sep 28, 2009

I purchased my studio XPS 16 in the beginning of July and am loving it. Having a few minor issues though, one of which is network related. More specifically the WiFi.

I have the upgraded Intel WiFi/WiMax 5150 Network card and my issue is with the WiFi. Well, honestly I couldn't tell you if the WiMax works as I have never actually been able to find any networks with it. IDK if it helps, but I'm running Vista Ultimate 64-bit with SP1.

Anyway, I can connect to networks just fine. It just is very intermittent. Occationally it does have an issue connecting, but by simply resetting the adapter it works like normal again.

Usually what it likes to do is connect to the network, and get stuck identifying itself (again, I can reset the adapter and it works again), or it connects just fine, identifies with the network, and i can even check email, sign on skype but NOT be able to browse the internet. Sometimes it says its connected, but wont pull up email, skype or the internet.

Now normally I wouldn't mind it so much, but the fact that it does this on a regular basis and I find myself resetting the adapter four or five times a day in hopes that it works again is getting old, and fast considering I spend over $2k on this machine .....

Dell :: Network Card Fried

Aug 5, 2009

Well, as many of you may have seen on the news (in the US anyway), Louisville, Kentucky was hit by some massive storms on August 4th.

I was unlucky enough to be on the campus at the University of Louisville, where I live in a dorm. During the rain and thunder, I was surfing the web and watching a little TV to pass the time due to canceled classes.

All of a sudden there was a bright flash, and a loud crack and boom. I had later been informed that the building was hit by that particular bolt of lightning.

At the same time as the flash, my laptop completely froze, forcing me to hard reboot. Nothing else in the room was affected. Lights didn't flicker once, TV never skipped a beat. My electronics are all plugged into a quality surge protector; this and the fact that we still had power and cable, I knew there wasn't a power surge.

However, the internet was knocked out for the whole building. Come to find out today, my laptop no longer recognizes when an ethernet cable is plugged into the port, thus preventing me from connecting to any LAN; home, on campus or otherwise.

QUESTION

This leads me to the question: Is it possible for there to be an electrical surge carried over an ethernet cable that is strong enough to fry/disable an internal network card?

In case you're wondering, I'm currently connected via wireless. Specs are in my sig (Dell E4300).

Dell :: Network Adapter Brand New

Jun 18, 2008

I bought a new Dell D830 about three days ago for school. I connected to my schools wireless network just fine, and I did this for about two days until I headed back home.

Here we have a wired network and it even worked fine here for about a day. Now I cannot seem to connect to anything here.

I checked the modem, different cables, and I tried to run through the repair option but I still got the same message, 'There might be a problem with one or more network adapters on this computer'. I do have Vista on the computer but besides that the only things Ive loaded are Trend Micro and Mozilla.

Will it effect both wired and wireless networks on this computer?

Dell :: XPS M1530; Cannot Find Available Wireless Network

Nov 23, 2008

I've just bought a XPS M1530 Laptop (so excited!). But I have some problem connecting to wireless networks.

My roommates can find and connect to our wireless network, while my machine cannot even find one!! It can't even create wireless networks (ad hoc)

I looked up Dell support, it said to uninstall network driver and restart windows (vista HP, SP1). I did that, after reboot, it could find the available network, but after another reboot, it again didn't work.

I'm pretty sure that nothing is wrong with hardware (since it could find once or twice). But I don know what to do.

System configuration:

Core 2 dua 2.5GHz
Ram: 4GB
Graphic :Geforce 8600gt 256mb
Hard: 320GB
Wireless: Dell Wireless
OS: Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1
