Dec 10, 2014My internet frequently disconnects from my Aspire S3-951 notebook with Athros AR5BWB225 wireless adapter. The adapter is loaded with driver version 10.0.0.227. Is there a newer driver that will prevent the frequent disconnects?

Feb 8, 2013Trying to resolve why laptop pc disconnects frequently from its wireless connection. No discernable pattern to disconnects, totally random. Happens in cycles of disconnect/auto reconnect or will go hours of stable operation. What I have noticed is tht the connection speed seems to vary, from a hig of 54.0 Mbps to as low as 2.0 Nbps. At same time the desktop pc (hard wired to modem) stays connected at 100 Mbps.
Using RCA modem, WRT 160n v3 router. Inspirion 1545 pc
HP Presario CQ62 Networking :: WiFi Keeps Shutting Off?
Aug 24, 2014Everytime i connect to my router(linksys) it connects but shuts off immediately! I have to turn off the wifi, the turn it on again and when i try to connect to my router...it connects then shuts off just like that! It says "Connections are available" but NO connections appear! Then I repeat this step over and over again till it connects! Ofcourse after soo many failed attempts I just quit..

Oct 29, 2012Basically just moved house and got Eircom broadband installed, my girlfriends laptop connected automatically, whereas my Compaq CQ60 Presario Notebook WindowsVista will not connect.I have checked so many different forums trying to fix this problem, but to no avail im afraid... it looks like there is an excellent internet connection.... but cannot go on the internet because it says "Unidentified Network local access only"
The router I have is "atheros AR5007 802.11b/g WiFi adapter", and the o/s I have on my laptop is Windows Vista 32 bit.
In our previous residence we had UPC broadband, and I had no problems at all connecting.

I have tried the hard reset, reseating the memory, and even plugging the notebook directly into the wall instead of a surge protector with the battery removed. I cannot find any solution on the HP site or any other forum site for that matter as to what a solid caps lock light and a solid orange light on the f12 key.
Currently I am thinking the client is might need a new back light for the system or a new cpu.

Oct 2, 2014One day my computer was real slow so i decided to factory restore my notebook, so i did. But ever since after that, i no longer can use my wifi for internet access. The only way i can connect to internet now is by ethernet cable. I called HP Support and they said i was missing a driver , since im sure i can just download what i need online for free on the HP site.
So, The bottom right icon shows a computer with a X on it. My F12 key is on with a blue light lid up. When i go to HP Connection Manager it says Wi-Fi (Wireless LAN) Disabled by Device Manager. When i go into Device Manager > Network Adapters, all the drivers i see are these three
"Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network)"
"Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol TDI"
"Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller #2"
This is all i see. Am i missing any other drivers?

Jul 1, 2011The laptop is a HP EliteBook 8440p running Windows 7 Professional Win7Pro.
The HP Wireless Assistant has the following message: Wireless LAN Adapter: This device is disabled in the device manager and cannot be enabled from Wirelss Assistant. It can still be turned off.
I have checked the device manager do not see where to turn it on.
There is a blue light on the above the keyboard and on the front side of the laptop. It's turned on in the bios. I've tried to resintall the driver.
The wireless device model # installed is:
intel model: 622anhmw
sps: +572509-001 OB
How to proceed? I hope to avoid a complete resinstall.

Sep 7, 2014I recently had to open up my HP G7 laptop to blow the dust of my fan and under the keyboard. When I put they keyboard back together, my wifi didn't work. I'm now on a ethernet connection. Opening network connection, there's no wifi adapter icon. I've tried installing the driver, but mid install I get this message "The driver files you wish to remove will not be removed as the corresponding card is not installed". I don't know what this means, but when I finish the install, the wireless connection is still not shown in network connections, and the driver doesnt show on device manager. What else can I try?

Mar 11, 2009If I leave my M4400 idle with Windows (Vista Ultimate 32-bit) locked and the screensaver on for any length of time (e.g. 20 minutes), then the network card goes into power-saving mode even while on AC power, reducing the connection speed from 1Gbps to 100Mbps. I can see this because the colour of the LED on the port changes. The reduction in speed causes a brief disconnection from the network. When I unlock Windows, there is another brief disconnection as it reverts to 1Gbps, and this causes instant messaging applications to log out.
If I go to the Link Speed tab on the network card's properties in Device Manager and force it to 1Gbps instead of Auto Negotiation, it warns me that power-saving features will be disabled, but then I don't experience the problem and it never disconnects. "Reduce link speed during battery operation" is unticked, but this should not apply to AC power anyway. I've tried upgrading the driver to 9.50.14.2, A01 (released on 24/02/2009) but the problem still happens.
Does anyone else experience this?

My wifi disconnects many times a day. Every other day the wifi adapter cannot find any router signals at all. It's been happeneing since new. I gave up on HP support as they never fixed ths issue and now the warranty has run out. At any rate I can get along by turning Wifi off/on when it drops connection, and rebooting the laptop when the adapter fails completely. Many posts indicate that a new adapter fixes the issue, but HP won't approve one. Naturally I am not going to buy HP again.

Mar 5, 2014I have 5 compaq presario c700 laptops, but i can only use one for wifi!!?? I have down loaded all the networking drivers from this site but the Atheros AR5007 802.11bg wi-fi adapter will not install stating 'driver is not intended for this platform' . I can put the hard drive that works with the wi-fi into any of the machines and the wifi works ok on all machines.
All of the wi-fi cards are the same. I had sorted this problem before but i have forgotten how i done it.

Mar 27, 2013I have a HP Compaq Presario CQ56 notebook computer. It was set up correctly when I bought it, everything worked perfectly. I somehow managed to get a virus which prevented me from even turning on my computer (Which is odd, because I'm not an idiot with computers, and I know what not to download/sites to visit), so I had to reset my computer back to stock, I used my Windows 7 disk, formatted the partitions and installed windows again.
Now, for some reason it won't connect wirelessly to the internet. It connects when I have an ethernet cable plugged in, but it won't find any networks, as shown in this screen shot:
I'm not sure what's causing it, but I guess it must be a driver issue?

It works fine when I have my laptop plugged into the internet, when I'm at uni, but when I come home on a weekend I can't bring my laptop back, because I only have WiFi back home.

My connection is great when its working, but it disconnects for about 20 seconds very often. Its extremely anoying, and I dont want to have to return this laptop as I really like it. Feb 3, 2014I have a Compaq Presario CQ61-313us notebook, and i've just installed windows 8.1, then i realized there was a problem with my Internet, every time i open a website, i always get either a page like this: [URL] ... , or i get "Error: Gateway Timeout", though i can get to the website if i refresh a few times, but it's extremely slow.
Also, i can't download anything, I've been trying to download the .NET Framework 3.5 through Windows Features and windows Update, but in vain. I think that proves that the problem isn't from IE. I also think that it's the wireless driver's fault, but i'm not sure, and i don't know what driver to download. I tried updating it from the properties meny, but it says it's up to date. My wireless adaptor is Qualcomm Atheros AR9285 802.11b|g|n, V3.0.1.155.
Update: I think it's worth noting that when i download with utorrent, it downloads normally with my regular download speed, but other than that, i can't download anything.

May 25, 2009I'm thinking about picking up a usb wireless n adapter; which means I won't be needing the internal wireless nic. Since that's a mini PCIe slot, I was wondering if anyone has tried replacing that with one of the many SSDs floating around the web...
2 main questions I have about those:
If they're mini-pciE, why are there sata versions and pata versions out there? There's no sata or pata connector on these cards it seems, the pci-e connector is all there is. Do they somehow use the sata/pata controller on the motherboard via the pci-e bus?
2nd question; would there be any way to boot from one of these? The bios has a bunch of options for booting up, network, usb, usb floppy, etc... but none for mini pci-e or anything like that...
Laptop is a presario C500, more precisely c551nr, broadcom 802.11b/g nic, 80gb toshiba 5400rpm slow ..... hard drive, and a celery 440 running the show..
