View 4 Replies View RelatedI am currently stumped on troubleshooting error code lights for a clients hp compaq cq62. I have tried the hard reset, reseating the memory, and even plugging the notebook directly into the wall instead of a surge protector with the battery removed. I cannot find any solution on the HP site or any other forum site for that matter as to what a solid caps lock light and a solid orange light on the f12 key.
Â
Currently I am thinking the client is might need a new back light for the system or a new cpu.
I just restored this computer with the factory reset and with the bios password the system diabled key is 59036668.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently wiped my computer using a DoD wipe program. My computer way really cluttered and it was just easier to wipe and start all over. I also wanted to install a new OS (windows 8). Upon turning it on after the wipe it requests a HDD Password. To my knowledge I never set one. Is there a way around this, specifically, not having to pay for one?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI’ve just done a clean install of my Dell Vostro -- reinstalling vista and removing the recovery partition in the process. Outcome = a ‘cleaner’ machine with none of the preinstalled bloatware/c**p from Dell. (first time I’ve done anything like this, but followed a brill guide in the Dell section of this forum ).
I’m about to tackle my Mums Compaq Presario C310EA. The aim is to remove all the rubbish she has accumulated over the years, incl any spyware/ adware she may have, and generally have a bit of a clean sweep…. hopefully resulting in a faster laptop. I’m backing up her data, and moving some of my Dad’s stuff somewhere else.
Basically I want to clean up as much as poss, but unfortunately she has no xp disk, just the recovery disks (cds) she burned when she first got the laptop.
As she has no xp disk I guess the best I can hope for is to reset the laptop to the factory settings (?) .. not ideal, but I don’t think the (factory set) bloatware is too much of an issue for her – she’s not a heavy user.
Should I use the recovery partition for this, or do I need to use the cds she burned? .
I’d like to know the best approach – and can’t seem to find a set of instructions to follow.
I forgot my passwords. I need the BIOS password or reset. My computer es HP Probook 4530s ...
