It can detect and "connect" to my wifi, however the moment i try to enter a webpage, it disconnects and doesn't work. So basically, the wifi doesn't work. I have checked the drivers and i'm 99% sure they're updated.
View 8 RepliesI purchased the Lenovo Z580 laptop last month. It is a very good laptop, very silent and well built. Coupled with Windows 8 (64 bit), its a very new experience all together, especially the uptime after restart, connectivity etc. Superfast!
I've been traveling around the world offlate and after I was back home recently, uunfortunately, I'm facing a wired problem with the Wifi since then.
Nature of the problem: After restart, sleep, turn PC on:
1/ Wifi shows full signal status at the start screen.
2/ I enter password to login and it takes to W8 start screen. I then goto the desktop mode.
3/ When I launch a browser I can't connect to internet but the wifi status says 'Internet access'. But after few seconds, I see grey wireless symbol (without any signal bar) with a star on the left corner of the wifi symbol (Not connected mode).
4/ The network I connect to is no longer visible. Only 2 networks are detected. One is an open network and the other one is a different network. Usually several networks are within the range when I'm connected to my network.
5/ After 4-5 minutes, everything becomes normal i.e. the wifi adapter connects to the network.
I've tried router/modem power cycle, disable/enable wireless network adapter and they haven't solved the problem yet. Also noticed something in the Wi-Fi Status (wireless adapter settings window) accessed via Control Panel. Speed initially was 39.0Mbps and eventually changes to 72.0Mbps, drops to 65.0Mbps...
I don't have this problem with the other laptop and tablet I own.
My Y410p is about six months old. Today, while using the computer, the touchpad stopped working suddenly.
Touchpad is enabled in mouse settings, and device manager says drivers are up to date and that the device is working.
However, the touchpad is completely unresponsive, and restarting the computer didn't do anything. Is there anything else that could be done? Or should I believe that this is hardware failure?
I was using my laptop today and tried to connect to a wireless network. However, my network connections does not allow me to connect to it, and when I tried to troubleshoot the issue, it told me that I needed to plug in an ethernet cord. Looking under the control panel also showed that the option for wireless had disappeared.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently (last month) sent my IdeaPad Y410p in to Lenovo for repairs due to the laptop not turning on, or repeatedly restarting at the BIOS screen. The laptop was repaired by Lenovo (they replaced the motherboard), and returned it to me. The laptop has worked great sincce then, except that the two USB ports on the right side and the headphone and microphone jacks do not work. I have reinstalled the audio drivers, twice, but have not reinstalled the chipset drivers at all, as I don't want to screw around with those untiol I no more about what I should do.

My brand new Flex 2 14 periodically disconnects from the network on Wi-Fi. This is pretty unacceptable. Other PC's in the house are not experiencing the problem, so it's difficult to blame the router.,
I have a Broadcom 802.11N Network Adapter device with driver version 6.30.223.201, which is the latest on the Lenovo site. I am running Windows 8.1, as provided on the system. I've installed Windows updates and some other software, but have not otherwise changed the OS.
I have seen other users with similar problems, but no fixes for Broadcom.
My W530 displays the "To interrupt normal startup, press Enter" message on startup. If I press Enter, I hear a beep and a message comes up indicating that a menu will be displayed, but Windows 8 starts loading shortly afterwards.
When I see the message, I can press F1 to get to the BIOS, F10 for Diagnostics or F12 for a Boot menu, but for some reason enter doesn't work.
I've tried several things, including using Recovery DVDs received from Lenovo to wipe the system (including formatting all drives), but still no luck.
When I originally received the machine, the "enter" key would bring up a menu, but I have screwed something up and even a full recovery from Lenovo DVDs didn't work. I run Windows 8 and after receiving the machine used the Create System Image feature (which I had used many times in Windows 7), but a subsequent restore didn't go well and that is when the "enter" stopped working on startup.
Why the zoom % of webpages randomly changes whilst I am surfing the internet with Mozilla on my Lenovo S10e laptop? It is very frustrating and when this happens I go down to the right hand corner of the application and select 100%. Is this a zoom problem or just the fact it is resizing the pages because of the screen size being very small. Are there any updates or software needed to overcome this problem.

It takes too much time to connect and also disconnects automatically frequently. Sometimes it shows only limited connectivity. I have updated the drivers but no change so far. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Ideapad Z580 with a 30mbps cable internet connection (running Win8.1). I've tested the cable modem with a number of laptops in my house, and the Ideapad is the only one that regularly times out on loading webpages.
What I've tried:
1. Updated Realtek Ethernet driver to newest version
2. Changed to Google Pub DNS servers (no difference from cable providers)
3. Changed power settings to High Performance (rather than balance or the battery setting)
4. Turned off IPV6 on the ethernet adapter
The problem seems to be random. Pages will load quickly and then suddenly they all time out (such as google and lenovo.com). When I ping both the url and the ip address they time out during these periods.
The problem is definitely with the laptop and not the cable connection as such. The modem does not need to be reset, as other laptops in the house load webpages normally.
I have a Lenovo y510p and have a really annoying problem with it's USB 3 ports. Everytime I try to connect a smartphone(android) it will initially detect it but just seconds after it just disconnects it and then connects it back again, it just a never ending cycle. As a result I can't copy files. The ports work well with other flash drives and even my external hard drive. It's just the smartphones that are affected. I have used 3 smartphones already all different models and they all exhibit the same behavior on both the usb 3 ports. But the smartphones worked fine when used with other computers.

The problem is, since day 1,every few minutes the internet stops working. It shows as connected, the router is working, other connected devices run as intended and everything's fine. But internet doesn't work on my laptop. It says "Could not connect to the network". I have tried doing the "keep wifi on during sleep" etc. but nothing works. It just stops working after a while even though I am using the laptop, it just suddenly stops. It even shows as connected, and packets are being received but internet or any application over the internet will not work untill I disconnect and reconnect.
It started at 17% and even though it says it's plugged in and charging it doesn't do so. On " Energy Management" I have it set to 'Maximum battery life', the charging status says its 'charging', and the battery status is 'Good'.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have bought a y510p 755m SLI with intel 4700MQ and it's performance is great, but after 20min it just drops the speed from 3.3mbps to like 2kbps, I tried ALL drivers and none solved the problem (even the windows one). I have to turn airplane mode on and off in order to reconnect. If i disable wireless N it does not disconnect but I lose too much speed (around 1.2mbps) and I really don't want that.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've updated my Intel Wireless LAN Driver to 17.0.2.5 and since then every time I close the lid (I'm connected through a OneLink docking station) the wifi stop functioning normal (connects to network but shows "Limited" and practically not functioning). If I open back the lid everything goes back to normal, either directly on the laptop or while still working through the docking station.

Using my Ideapad Y410p this morning (six months old), the computer abruptly crashed and shutdown with no warning of any sort. Straight to black screen and lights went out. I thought perhaps it overheated and shutdown as some sort of safety measure, as my old Dell used to do that. The laptop was warm, but I've seen it get hotter and still perform.
Now I can't get power back. Pressing the on/off button doesn't get me any sort of noise or lights. Tried unplugging the battery and AC power for a while, and still not working. Held down power button several times seeing if it would reset something. Opened it up the cover and took a look but didn't see anything wrong. Popped the RAM cards in and out. It's just dead in the water.
I recently recieved a y410p ideapad I ordered off the lenova website. However, it won't start up. When I try, it brings me to a blue screen with a sad face that says I need to do an automatic repair. This flashes for about two seconds before disappearing and the screen becomes grey and says "lenovo" and "Starting Automatic Repair". From this the screen goes completly grey, and has nothing on it. The computer stays this way for hours and the fan will continue to run. I've tried the reset button on the side and resetting the laptop, but no matter what I do I end up back at that grey screen.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was trying to access my BIOS recently, but whenever I attempt to do so, all I get is a constant beep sound. I used to be able to access the BIOS just fine, but now I can't. The computer itself still boots fine, though I also can't select any boot options either.
I thought I could fix this by resetting the BIOS, but there doesn't appear to be any way of doing that. The CMOS battery is nowhere to be found, and there is no BIOS update for the Y510p that I can apply.
I can get back into the BIOS?
I have this beautiful laptop and I picked up an SSD since it doesn't come with one. I am placing it in the Caddy.
Is there a way to move Windows 8 to the SSD? I can't use a download an ISO from Microsoft since the serial is licensed to the machine. I would like to put it on a USB, or just install straight to the SSD.
I installed Windows 7 onto my y410p without a problem but now I am not able to get into the BIOS. Are there specific instructions for how to get into the BIOS in Windows 7? how to?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe issue was in regards to WiFi not working properly on my Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga S1. After a restart my computer's internet (with WiFi on) would work for a few minutes then it would stop. Long story short, I tried various things, and even uninstalled Norton and other software which I thought may have been a culprit but still the same issue. I also used a USB to Ethernet port (since there is no built in Ethernet port in the ThinkPad Yoga) and connected my computer with a cable and disabled the WiFi to see if it was the wireless hardware not working. Unfortunately still the same issue.
Finally I noticed in the Windows Task Manager a process called "Discover.exe". It turned out this was using some noticeable amount of CPU and wondered what this was doing as I hadn't seen that before. I found out that this was a piece of software bundled in with my computer called Lenovo EMC Storage Connector. I'm not sure why it was running but I ended this process.
Suddenly my internet was working again! This time no problems. I uninstalled this software utility to make sure this doesn't cause this issue again.
I updated my computer to windows 8.1, and now it doesnt recognize the Nvidia 755M graphics card. I even went to this URL... website and tried to run the .bat file, but it showed up with an error stating "Error: Invalid Display Adapter Index specified".

I turned off the computer (held power button) and when I boot it up it said "Resuming Winfows." Then it went to a black screen. So I turned it off again and it went back to "Resuming Windows." I pressed CTRL + ALT + DELETE and it said resume windows or start windows again. I said start windows again and it went to frozen at "Starting Windows" and I can't boot it up or factory reset.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI knew that the Nvidia GPU triggered only when a 3D graphics heavy application is loaded. It is. But I only get a bad 3D rating (1 star or so) while playing the game.
I've configured the Nvidia 3D program setting and also on a high performance battery plan. The Nvidia notification icon tray is also show that the game is loaded using the Nvidia GPU.
On other hand, when the laptop is plugged in, I get a best 3D rating on the same game. How is it possible?
It is not comfortable due to the fact that I have to plug in the laptop whenever I want to play the game to get the best performance.
I just bought and received a y410p with the hybrid drive. I have a 120gb ssd that I would like to make a fresh install on. Where do I get both the iso and the window's key? My box didn't come with any disks or windows key. I don't really wish to just clone the hdd since there is so much lenovo branded junk included. What are my options?
Edit: Would I also have to install all of the drivers separately? I've not used windows in some time now. I've been running linux for quite awhile and it picks up most hardware without dealing with drivers.
My fairly new Lenovo Y410p funtions extremely well when playing a video game, but only when connected to a charger, as soon as I disconnect the charger, my framerate can drop to upto 1/8th of the original framerate. It is always connected to the NVidia Graphics Card, the power plan is always on high performance, and the minimum processor state on battery for the processor power management is 100%. How I can fix it? Am I missing something fairly obvious, or is there a defect with my computer?

Just received a y410p from ups, no visible box damage but when turned on it goes to an unclear blue screen and does nothing. It sometimes turns on and off repeatedly without getting anywhere. The OKR button gets stuck in when pushed and does nothing but repeatedly turning on and off the laptop. Spoke to lenovo and they are sending me a recovery disk, (not overnight mind you, but 3 day delivery, what great customer service that is). I have serious doubts that the recovery disk will do anything. What are my remedies?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI got my Ideapad y410p a week ago. It came with Windows 8 and many useless softwares installed. It was taking around 3 minutes of time and immediately i updated my os to 8.1 (x64). Even after updating to 8.1, the boot time didn't get any better. I unistalled useless softwares like Mcafee, Cyberlink tools and many and installed AntiVir and Visual Studio. Turn on Fast startup is also enabled. But what is painful is it still takes 2 minutes and 31 seconds plus to load my desktop. What is more painful to me is My old laptop (Amd Dual Core, 3GB Ram with Many softwares installed with windows 7) loads earlier than this.
