Why the zoom % of webpages randomly changes whilst I am surfing the internet with Mozilla on my Lenovo S10e laptop? It is very frustrating and when this happens I go down to the right hand corner of the application and select 100%. Is this a zoom problem or just the fact it is resizing the pages because of the screen size being very small. Are there any updates or software needed to overcome this problem.
View 9 RepliesI have an Ideapad Z580 with a 30mbps cable internet connection (running Win8.1). I've tested the cable modem with a number of laptops in my house, and the Ideapad is the only one that regularly times out on loading webpages.
What I've tried:
1. Updated Realtek Ethernet driver to newest version
2. Changed to Google Pub DNS servers (no difference from cable providers)
3. Changed power settings to High Performance (rather than balance or the battery setting)
4. Turned off IPV6 on the ethernet adapter
The problem seems to be random. Pages will load quickly and then suddenly they all time out (such as google and lenovo.com). When I ping both the url and the ip address they time out during these periods.
The problem is definitely with the laptop and not the cable connection as such. The modem does not need to be reset, as other laptops in the house load webpages normally.
It can detect and "connect" to my wifi, however the moment i try to enter a webpage, it disconnects and doesn't work. So basically, the wifi doesn't work. I have checked the drivers and i'm 99% sure they're updated.

I found out that I can make a recovery media, a pen drive with at least 16Gb, to recovery the system. I would like to make the same with DVDs. create the recovery discs or to reinstall the windows 8 from scratch with the same license key (not even sure if I have one) the one preinstalled in my notebook?

There seems to be a problem with the fan. It seems to always hover at about 90% capacity even if the computer is doing nothing. That would have been acceptable somewhat, except for the fact that it will spin at 90% speed (just estimating here) for 5 seconds, then rev up to 100% for 1 seconds, then down to 90% for 5 seconds, then 100% for one second. It's very irritating.
I believe this is related to the BIOS for two reasons:
1. All the professional reviews online kept mentioning how quiet the machine is. This is not quiet by any means. Perhaps their review machine had an older BIOS that did not exhibit this problem.
2. This happened during the installation of Windows as well, which, of course, does not use any drivers, so the Lenovo Power Manager is not the culprit.
Back to #2: The fan issue can be solved by setting the fan setting in the Lenovo PM program to "reducde fan noise dynamically" instead of the other two options. Then the fan will be silent. But why can't I use the other two options? Why must they make the fan work at full speed all the time? This is why I think this is a BIOS issue at hand.
When testing take note: Switching to "reduce fan noise dynamically" reduces the fan to silent, and you can then switch to the other two options and the fan will remain quiet. But it will only remain quiet for a minute or two, then rev up to full speed. So don't be hasty in thinking that switching to reduce fan noise dynamically will then allow you to use either of the other options without excessive noise.
We have one setup with 2 Dell 24" Ultrasharp monitors (U2412M) using the display port and DVI port. The fact that I couldn't get native resolution of the screens when having dual monitors is strike one but I understand. If you only have 1 of them i would get native resolutions with the display port.
Anyways I had problems with the machine crashing and always when docked. I made sure the dock had the latest firmware and that the driver was also updated. It crashed so much that eventually the hard drive got corrupted. It kept showing NTFS errors so Lenovo replaced the drive for me. I was really crossing my fingers hoping the drive was bad in the first place thus all my problems.
Nope it still crashes! The client just can't use laptop with the onelink pro dock. I already have the latest drivers too.
I have the Lenovo Y400 laptop with Intel Core I-7 processor and Nvidia Geforce 650M Graphics chip. The laptop came with windows 8 and is now running windows 8.1 At the time of purchase I opted to go for a model with a standard HDD and no MSATA SSD for caching.
I have recently purchased a 128 GB "My Digital SSD - Bulletproof 4" MSATA SSD and installed it.
I installed the Intel Rapid Storage Technology software and it shows the drive, but does not give me any options for acceleration or caching.
Based on my research so far, it seems I need to enable RAID mode in the BIOS (SATA setting is currently at AHCI).
The only other option shown is to change it to "compatibility mode" which it identifies as IDE.
Is there a way to switch the BIOS to RAID mode so I can use my MSATA SSD for caching without having to reinstall windows?
I have found out that the touch pad surface extends further than it should. I have a habit on leaning on my elbow,
when I have my laptop on my legs I put my elbow on the palm rests. I found out quickly though that if I lean on it I end up doing a multi touch zoom,
to start off with I thought my system was just being rubbish but then I tested it again and it worked fine after I took my elbow off.
This must mean that the touch surface extends further than the edge of the "touchpad",
I just wonder how far it actually goes and whether we could make use of it .
I bought a E520. I am not liking the touchpad on this thing. It hangs up and does not respond a lot of times.
The biggest thing that irks me is that my screen will zoom in and out when I run my finger along the touchpad or when tapping it. I know you can use the "pinch" with two fingers to zoom in and out but mine will zoom with just a tap of one finger.
How to disable the zoom feature. There must be a way in settings to turn that off. I just want the touchpad to work normally, as in move the cursor around.. thats it, nothing more.
I'm experiencing this problem especially with Internet Explorer 11. I've disabled the zoom feature inside the control panel of synaptics, but very often when I scroll with two fingers the webpage is zoomed.
The strange thing is that the zoom value inside IE doesn't change! In fact if I refresh the page, it comes back at its original zoom aspect.
It is possible to change the CPU on my laptop Z series from P9500 to T9900 3.0Ghz ?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have just bought the Flex 15. I looked at the power settings and set the brightness, but it is ignoring the settings and always either darker or brighter than I want it. It keeps flickering between being darker and brighter and it's giving me a headache. It is unplugged if that makes a difference, I haven't used it plugged in yet to know if it does it then. How can I stop it? I've looked through the settings and can't find anything.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have what I think is a common problem with Edges: My E535, which I've had just over a week, will start up quietly. Then after about 3 minutes the fan will switch to high speed, even under light load (e.g.. only Firefox running, and limited scrolling or other activity). After a few minutes at steady high speed, it will begin cycling up and down, up and down, up and down..... This is getting to be moderately annoying. It does this whether the machine is plugged in or on battery. It also happens when I'm doing other things...OpenOffice spreadsheets or word documents, or even just letting the system sit idle.
I've attempted to change settings with Power Manager but for some reason, PM ends up crashing when I attempt to select a lower fan speed setting and a normal (level 10) brightness setting. Can the two problems be related? I'm presuming from similar posts for E530 and other Edges that this is BIOS related. Here is my info:

I had a problem for a few days now, sometimes, out of nothing, the screen color turns yellowish....like a warm color....i right click in the home screen, personalize, display, calibrate color, the template for color calibration appears, i enter next...and voilá, it comes back to the cold white color....it just happened as i turn from tent mode to laptop mode to wright this thread
Any other way of disabling this change?
My ThinkPad Edge E320 isn't but a few months old, but I have been noticing a problem with it. I want to know if others are facing similar problems and if there is any solution for it.
The laptop powers off completely when I move it. But I have noticed that it does not happen if I am REALLY careful with it, and move it holding the two sides.
There seems to be a 'soft-spot' on the underside of the laptop that causes it to switch off immediately when it's pressured. And moving the laptop holding it at the bottom causes exactly that.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Macbook Pro late 08 2.53 GHz CPU with the 9600 GT card and 4 gigs of RAM. I have Leopard 10.5.7 installed. When zooming in on my photos in iPhoto, it is really stuttery. I am sure it's not a temperature problem because the temp is about 36 degrees Celsius. It is even stuttery when running on the high performance setting.

I use Windows 8.1 and have an HP Notebook 15.
I have driver version 15.0.9 on Synaptics which has the two finger scrolling, three finger flick/press. But I've seen pictures of people with three finger drag(such as top/bottom/left/right of screen to open anything) and pinch zoom. I've tried a few driver versions and can't find which one has both.
So the question is, which driver version has all that I mentioned?
I have recently purchased Acer, Aspire V3-572PG (Aspire|V), with Windows 8.1 installed, it has a pinch and zoom screen which is driving me insane. The screen automatically grows to the size of an elephant and or reduces to a postage stamp every few minutes as I use my touchpad, browse or even breathe, I have to manually keep changing the screen size back to 100%, it is impossible to use.
I can't find the settings to edit or disable this....

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell E5540 laptop and the touchpad is working fine, except that it won't zoom or rotate. All other gestures work as they should - scrolling, three finger-gestures, ...: no problem. But no zooming or rotating.
Both options are of course enabled in the Dell Touchpad settings. I have removed the touchpad from the device manager and reinstalled it with the most recent drivers, but to no avail.
I think it's a software problem since scrolling with two fingers works without a problem?
i can use the touch pad to move around but edge swipes don't work so i cant change from app to app and i cannot function zooming using the touch pad or scrolling either ?
