Well when I started up my system all these icons were gone from the system tray. I went to properties and tried to click "show the icons all the time" but those three were grayed out.
I restarted the system and the battery showed back up but the other two didnt. So, I restarted again, and now all three are gone again. I'm guessing the only option will be reinstall OS?
I have got a thinkpad x61 with win 7 pro x64. A few days ago I installed hotkeys drivers from Lenovo. On Screen Display problem: when I press volume up/down Button the volume decreases completely. To make louder or dim the volume I have to hold the buttons. All the other hotkeys functions work . why? what I have to do?

Got a the beep codes, but apparently they don't mean anything with this model.I have no POST, and it's a black screen. The LCD icons (sounds, mutes, et cetera) are doing nothing out of the ordinary. I did the LCD BIST, and the colors came up fine.

After it is completed it freezes for a moment before loading the blue screen where the desktop icons would normally load. Except they don't. It freezes on the blue background screen. The warranty is up and I have valuable pictures etc.. On this computer from trips and whatnot.

In Leopard, I display the Hard disk icons on the desktop, but now I have the Windows hard disk too, which is annoying. I never use it and it's annoying. View 8 Replies View RelatedI just got my new hp pavillion dv7-1000, it loaded up and i did all the registration stuff before you actually get to using the laptop but as the vista desktop loads up i closed to lid and it put the laptop on standby.
Now when i try to turn the laptop on i get to the log on screen, put in my password, it loads up and then i get a blue screen with my mouse cursor but no desktop icons or anything. I can still do control-alt-delete but i just cant see any of the other stuff.
I then booted in safe mode and i could then see everything but it looked like windows 98 not vista,
My computer freezes all the time. Everytime i turn it on it runs about 5-10 min and then it freezes. The screen is not black and I can still move the mouse but I can't press on any icons or do anything. I have tried to scan the computer for virus and run other test, but usually the computer freezes before it is done.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFor various reasons, I had to perform a complete reinstall of Windows 8.1 on my W530. Now, after updating the system with the Lenovo System Update app, all the icons on the desktop (laptop screen, not external) are considerably larger than before the resintall. This includes the task bar, etc.. as a matter of fact, it appears that I've lost a lot of real estate within apps as well, and everything generally appears to be 'fat'.
I have the screen resolution set to 1920 x 1080.
I am using the Intel HD Graphics 4000 driver dated 5/16/2014.
Interestingly enough, upon first boot from the rebuild (before the System Update updates) the screen was exactly as it was before. I did try to downgrade the driver to the built-in MSFT driver.. but that didn't accomplish anything.

I have always been able to view large icons in my folders in windows file explorer. Then one day I couldnt. I have to right click and choose 'preview' to see the image. How do I fix that ?

It boots up fine with quick Dell screen, black XP start up screen with thermometer line at bottom, then light blue XP screen then Vostro.
Before the destop icons show up next after Vostro and I am all set. Now it stops at Vostro.
I can get to programs using task manager file open and browse. Not very convenient.
I have the Pavilion g7-2235dx with Windows 8.1 operating system. Nearly every automatic update messes up my ability to get on the internet. The only way I can connect is to uninstall all of the updates. The icons on my desktop also stopped working. When I click on them, it goes right back to desktop. Can't pin them to the taskbar either. The ones on the taskbar won't open by clicking on them either. Have to right click and tell it to open. Also problem getting my Norton anti-virus to open. Says it working but can't open it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedOne thing I miss going from a Inspiron 6000 to a M1530 is the onscreen volume meter bar when you press the louder and softer volume buttons on the Media Bar. On my Inspiron 6000, a gui bar pops up when you adjust the volume using the media bar buttons to let you know exactly where your volume is set at. I don't even know when to stop pressing the volume up button because I don't know when the volume is maxed out on my M1530. Anybody know of a way to make the onscreen volume meter return?

Previously (that is, before I recently reinstalled Windows) my computer used to have some sort of "memory" for volume settings.
I normally set the volume to around 20 when using headphones and set it to around 100 without headphones.
My computer had a "memory" for this in the sense that whenever I plugged in headphones the volume would automatically set to 20 and when I unplugged them, it would go back up to 100. However, this no longer happens and I don't know why
I've put together a two-SSD configuration on Dell's configurator (2x 128GB).
I've checked the online manuals and haven't been able determine if the Z can configure the two internal drives in a RAID0 set.
Anybody do this? If it's not available from the BIOS, anyone try a striped config?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a 2ghz P-M, 2GB RAM, 7800GTX equipped XPS M170 and never really took attention to this. It has CPU whine, and when you scroll webpages, it slows the scrolling process and emits the higher pitched intermittent whine until you stop, then it resumes a lower volume whine.
It's not really noticable unless in a quiet situation, but it's very annoying to me in such situations, especially because it limits the scrolling speed of pages and things in programs.
I've reformatted several times and i'm pretty sure its either the CPU or GPU whining. Gaming eprformance is unaffected.
Can I call Dell and have them do anyhting about this? I don't have Bluetooth, as some other topics have said works, but I don't think I should have to buy a module to have my CPU stop whining.
I couldn't find any info on this and seem to have figured this out. On the Dell I got (Studio 1735 / Windows Vista Home Premium), the volume dialogue (the volume slider that appears when you press the up/down volume media touch buttons) showed up in some strange place in the upper left corner. I wanted it in the lower right corner.
So, follow the following steps:
1. Find the Quickset Icon in the icon tray. Right-click it and "Exit".
2. Fire up regedit (Start > Run > regedit).
3. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREDell Computer CorporationQuickSet.
4. Backing up is strongly recommended as when performing any operations with the registry. At least back up the part you are changing. To backup, just rightclick the Quickset node and do "Export" to a file.
5. Find VolumeDlgX and VolumeDlgY keys. These hold the x&y position of the volume dialogue. Change them to whatever you want (note that by default the values are in HEX, but you can change them to decimal when setting them). I used the position of BrightnessDlgX/BrightnessDlgY (the Brightness dialogue which did appear where I wanted it) as reference).
6. Reboot the computer.
Note that if you start Quickset without rebooting, it appears to overwrite the registry values with the ones that were there before the change.

if speaker level is 0-60 proc all is fine, but if speaker level is 70-100 proc, then hard disk begin work at max... sound and programs crash... then i put mute or slow down speaker level and hard disk again working calmly, not a max performance...
i not understand why hard disk working at max performance when speaker level more thant 70 proc...
it is really strange.
i tryed to instal another audio driver, not helped...
maybe to strong magnetic field from speeker? if speeker to strong?
Are the volume buttons on my E6400 supposed to light up? Also, my backspace key squeaks. Is there a fix for that besides getting a new keyboard?
