Mar 11, 2010
So I got my M1530 replaced with a SXPS 1640 with a 3670 video card and I have been getting this error message frequently. The laptop freezes then a few seconds later comes back online with this error message! How do I fix this?

I have an e6500 with an Nvidia graphics card. I'm running Win7 with all current drivers, including the latest graphics card driver.
Today, while doing nothing particularly graphics-intensive--I was just surfing the Web, writing documents--the display repeatedly flashed to black, then went back to normal...........................

Product: HP Pavilion dv7-6015tx Entertainment Notebook PC
OS: Windows 7 32-bit
Status: Clean installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit from Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
I have been having several instances where the computer would seem to 'lag' then after some flickering rendering on my monitor, Windows would give the error: "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered."
There are still effects after this message is displayed. When dragging windows, scrolling up and down etc. graphics continue to flicker.
This is not while hardcore gaming, the GPU was not working in high temperatures. Interestingly, I do not have this problem when I am in the midst of hardcore gaming. The CPU was not under heavy load, the CPU was not working in high temperatures either. I checked the temperature with thermal monitoring (HWiNFO32).
I have plenty of resources, 1223MB of RAM to spare. I also have plenty of HDD space too. I have installed the latest graphic driver for my product: AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver, but the problem persists.

Has anyone seen this error on their VPC-Z series?
I've seen it twice now... it flashes up something about "188.8" or something but that vanishes quick. In Event Viewer, it says:
Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.
Is it bad, or just iffy drivers? It recovers instantly.

Whenever I play games like Hearthstone in regular laptop mode everything is fine. However every time I switch to tablet, tent or stand mode, after less than a minute of playing, I get the error “"display driver stopped responding and has recovered". I even updated my Y2P to the latest Intel graphics driver and it didn’t work. I think it’s something about the tablet mode that’s making the graphics card or processor not function fully.

I'm using Lenovo Ideapad P500 for 16 months now. Windows 8.1.I've had this message saying "display driver stopped responding and has recovered" while on startup on my notification area. It's been quite a some time I have seen this messsage during startups. And, my laptop seems more slow during startup. I've tried "sfc/scannow" but the system seems fine. I did Disk cleanup and optimization regularly. No third-party software installed.
My laptop heats up. Its working fine not too hot during Morning and Evening, but heats up high during day time. I'm not using laptop cooler now, but I've ordered one. My laptop is getting old.

I have had my DV5T for round about a couple of months now and I have noticed that on random occasions the nvidia display driver nvlddmkm would stop responding.
Are there any solutions for this? Any opinions on why this is happening?
I am running the latest drivers on my 9200M GS and have Vista Home Premium for my OS.

I bought my Aspire E5-511G few days ago.
I installed Windows 7 professional (x64) successfully.
I installed all the drivers downloaded form the support section also successfully.
The problem is that on approximately every 5~10 minutes I get the following message:
"display driver intel hd graphics drivers for windows 8(r) stopped responding and has recovered".
This message by itself is not annoying. The problem is that during skype video call after getting this message I don't see anymore nor my own video nor the video of the called.
Not only this, restarting the call does not fix the problem.
The only solution is to restart skype but this also does not work everytime.
I had similar issue with youtube videos but I fixed the problem by setting NVIDIA as preferred graphics processor for the browser application, however I don;t have such option for skype.

a new IDT audio driver to test ! It seems to me the slight pop when changing song in WMP12 is gone but I'm not too sure. I just downloaded it and might need more people to test it out to see if it fixes the crackling/popping sound.

Second, a new Synaptics touchpad driver to update too. I've always wanted to double tap to access the secondary menu like mac and I found a way to it ! With this 2-finger-gesture tool, our touchpad is exactly like MAC ! (no four fingers yet though) And now, you can double tap like mac multitouch to initiate secondary menu !

I am running Win 8.1 x64 (up-to-date) on HP Pavilion 1322TX laptop. There are Intel HD Graphics 3000 and ATM Radeon HD 7450M two graphic cards as the device manager window. Recently I am getting blue screens and later message appear saying the ATM driver stopped working. I found many problems with this driver in the past as well. When I check the relevent page for my laptop model, there is no update since 2012..
Can I update these two drivers seperately by getting updates from Intel and AMD sites?
Is there any update for catalyst control system (CCC) ?
When I try to update through the CCC or HP Support Assist, it is always no updates..

I have a new Inspiron 5547 w/Windows 7, everything is working well except for the Touchpad. Initially the touchpad was working fine, then it stopped responding, only when I attached a USB mouse could I use the laptop. I re-installed drivers and the Touchpad worked correctly again. A few days later, the trackpad stopped working again....reinstalled drivers yet again and everything worked fine. Now for the 3rd time in 4 days the trackpad is not working. Is this a hardware or Windows 7 Issue?

I have an IdeaPad Y400 and just suddenly one of the USB Ports stopped responding. The hub shows up in device manager and if I connect a usb light it will receive power but I cant use it for anything else.
More Specifically it is the always-on yellow usb port on the right side of the device.
Just a few months ago I had issues with the onboard gpu and had the entire motherboard replaced (twice) for a few hundred dollars

I have recently updated the BIOS on my E530 laptop to version 2.08 (the previously installed version was 1.xx, probably 1.37 as far as I remember, but am not sure about the exact version..). After the update the laptop keyboard and touchpad stopped working in Windows.
The keyboard does, however, work in the BIOS and both (keyboard and touchpad) work when the computer enters the Windows-startup-screen (where it suggests to fix hard drive errors etc.).
I am using Windows 8 all along and before I never had problems with my hardware. Now both the keyboard and touchpad are recognized in Window's Device manager, but are known to have troubles. There is also a PCI Device recognized in the category "Other devices", but it's missing any drivers (I wonder if there is a connection..). All those three are recognized as such by the Lenovo Solutions Center as well.
I have tried reinstalling the UltraNav drivers, but it wouldn't work. Also, I've tried finding any possible configuration regarding my problem in the BIOS, but was unsuccessful. If I attach an external mouse or keyboard, they work. I really don't know what else to do to get my laptop's keyboard & touchpad working!
The complete description of my laptop is: ThinkPad Edge E530 (3259-HLG), running Windows 8 (x64).

I am beyond my 30 days so i guess a return is out of the question? I am really not happy with it.
I didn't notice it too much because i got used to leaving it on my lap on top of a laptop bag ... so i don't feel any heat.
But it is soooo hot that i literally cannot even hand it to my wife, it would burn her.
The hot zones are all along the back, all along the left side, and the bottom on the left side.
I am dreading calling dell customer support, i know it is horrible for personal products

Just wondering if someone could lend some insight on why the SSD are significantly overpriced in AUS To Customize a SXPS 1640 from a 500gb 5400 rpm in the US is is $100 dollars, or $152 Aus.
While in Australia it is $800 to upgrade.. Who do you have to sleep with to get a decent price ?

I recently received a Studio XPS 1640 as a replacement for an M1330. While I prefer the size of the M1330, the 1640's full HD panel (and increased power) makes up for the increased heft, in my book.
I replaced the 500 GB 5400 RPM drive, that came with the system, with an OCZ SSD and installed a fresh copy of Windows 7, then the latest drivers from Dell.
Compared to my experience with nVidia and the M1330, this takes some getting used to.
1. Using standard Windows drivers for the ATI 4670, any time I did anything more graphics-intensive than navigate around Windows 7 (with eye candy on), the driver would crash and instantly recover. After upgrading via Windows Update to the latest on there, I got BSODs instead.
Also, my HDMI-connected flat panel only showed about 85% of the screen even though the resolution was correctly set at 1080p, the panel's max.
Once I uninstalled those and switched to the Dell-recommended with ATI CC, the BSOD and crashes stopped, and I used ATI CCC to remove the overscan and now the entire LCD is in use, as it should.
However, the computer will not start at all (power button does nothing) if my DisplayPort cable (to a Dell monitor) is plugged in. If I remove it, then I can re-attach it once I have powered the system on, but then Windows/ATI "forgets" how I like my monitors set up and I have to go through a whole process to get it back.
Also, regarding the HDMI Audio I use, every time Windows generates a sound, I get a "thump" of my external speakers powering on, and the sound is basically done, by then. If I play a song in WMP, the pattern remains, and when the song begins there is that thump, but once the song is playing then it is smooth sailing and clean sound until the song stops and then loads the next song, at which point that "thump" returns for a second, again.
2. The USB Kb/Mouse are not active until Windows is loaded. Why?
3. My old IR remote from my M1330 seems to do nothing for this new laptop. I did replace the battery just to make sure.

Anyone else with this laptop find that the screen has a very warm-reddish white balance, or is it just me? Compared to my MBP and other Dell laptops and screens, it has by far the most reddish whites.
I've tried the many ICM profiles posted here, and it definately made a difference. I'm now getting much more accurate colors, but the white balance itself remains quite reddish.
To make matters worse, the ATI CCC which, on my desktop computer, gives me White Temperature controls, those same controls are non-existant on the 1640 (same Catalyst 9.9 drivers).

I currently own the 1640 and have had nothing but problems over the last two weeks. Hard drive crash, optical drive broken, deal pixels etc etc. I'm thinking about returning the 1640 and getting the Sony FW instead. Is the FW a RELIABLE computer b/c at this point, I think that's what I'm looking for? Has anyone used both machines and how do they compare? For those that own the FW,

I am probably getting the sxps 1640 and I was wondering would a bluray drive be worth it? I do have a Sony 40v4100 lcd tv. Can this drive output 24p through the hdmi port? And why isnt it a bluray burner like the xps m1530 line? How hard would it be to swap in a bluray drive, do you have to pull the whole computer apart to do so? Should I just spend the money on an external bluray player for my tv?
