View 1 Replies View RelatedI just received my Inspiron 15 5547 computer 2 days ago and one thing I noticed is that intermittently the touchscreen freezes for 3-10 seconds at a time, when this happens the computer is not frozen, I can still move the cursor with the touch pad or with a Bluetooth mouse.
I have contacted tech support and they advised to give it a few days to see if it continues to happen and confirm that the computer in fact does not freeze. I am wondering if this is normal for this model? Or if this is an actual hardware issue with my computer.
I also am wondering about getting a stylus to use on the screen for drawing. If I get one like the Adonit Jot or one like used for a Samsung Galaxy Note III would that work? Would it cause any damage to the screen?
I know about the DC Jack problem the 5150 has and I don't think this has that it works great with the AC adapter plugged in.
I have already tryed another battery and same results. I ordered a new AC adapter and I am (albeit impatiently) waiting for the arrival. So in the meanwhile I thought I'd ask here if anyone has any ideas (And if the AC adapter doesn't work)????
I have already done a search and the only relevant item I found was something about the LVC14A chip issue and was wondering if it could be that?
First year, my Yoga's touchscreen was always working correctly, regardless of connected USB devices.
Since some time, if I connect a device into USB 2.0 port, touchscreen gets immediately disabled, no more responding to any touch. In Device Manager, it is not showing any errors. I found a workaround that in Device Manager (HID Devices branch), touchscreen must be set Disabled, then Enabled and then it comes back online. But I know this action was never needed before.
I think it began happening around the time when I started to use Yoga with barcode scanner Heron D-130. But the problem is now happening regadless of USB device, even with devices which were not impacting the touchscreen before. Perhaps not barcode scanner, but some Windows update caused this. Do you have any solution for this so touchscreen will keep working after another USB 2.0 device is connected?

I have noticed that my touch stops responding to touch when the ambient temperature goes above 22 degrees C. To be clear the laptop is not hot, the laptop is at room temperature. Nothing to do with the fan or laptop cooling. When the ambient temperature drops below 22 degrees C it start working again. Do I need to put it in for a repair?
I've just bought brand new Ideapad s210 touch. But touchscreen is not working.
What I did so far:
- instal all windows 8 updates - still not working,
- update to 8.1 and update - still not working.
Check my hardware in control panel - everything seems to be ok - but maybe I dont know where to look ?
Maybe same drivers are needed ?
I recently purchased a stock-standard Inspiron 3521 Touch running windows 8.
The touchscreen worked for the first few days but has subsequently stopped working which I suspect is due to windows/other software updates.
The system is not showing/recognising any Tablet and Pen hardware/drivers.
i bought my dell laptop from the website (malaysia), and after a couple of month using the touchpad seems to be not working. Called them and they sent a technician to repair it on site, only to see him bringing 2 parts that were not related to the problem (motherboard & keyboard), which was he replaced mine with the new one anyway.
But that still did not fix the touchpad (in his defense, he said "they" only gave him those parts and he has no clue why), so he said he will get back to me about the touchpad and meet up another day to replace the correct part.
Now im writing not to complaint about the touchpad, but the screen rotation. After the temporary "fix" it seems that whenever i tilt my screen sideways or upside down, screen rotates as normal. Problem is, it wont rotate back to the original orientation when i tilt it back.
Eventually after he left, did some tinkering around and found 3 methods that worked:
1. pressing ctrl + alt + up arrow
2. change the orientation settings in Intel HD graphic properties
3. this one is weird a bit, i had to open up the laptop screen so its flat with the keyboard, THEN only the screen rotation works like normal if i tilt the whole thing upright.
But these methods did not fix the orientation problem, its more of a temporary solution as it wont tilt back to the original position in the "laptop mode".
I bought an Inspiron 14R about four months ago. The touchscreen worked fine until maybe a month ago. It was after the computer had some sort of update that the touchscreen stopped working. Any clue if there is a driver or something that I can download to fix this problem?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am one of the lucky ones who just got the X1 Carbon Touch (after a 2 month wait).
Touch screen is VERY spotty. Will just stop working. All the time. Even in the middle of gestures.
I found that by going to the upper right corner touch will start working again, and then it'll stop moments later in the middle of an activity.
This is Windows 8, of course. I have used plenty of other Windows 8 devices so I'm not a novice. I have never seen this behavior. Is this a driver problem? A setting I don't know about (some special Lenovo thing?). I am hoping its not hardware. The fact that touching the upper right corner enables things for awhile seems to indicate its not hardware but not certain.
I have a DELL Inspiron 15z 5523 which intermittently make a repeated series of 5 loud beeps. The support site seems to suggest a problem with the CMOS/Bios coin cell battery. So I presume I need to replace this. Does this sound right?
I have the user manual that shows how to replace this battery (after taking everything apart!) which looks do-able. But I can't find out what kind of coin cell battery I need to buy for replacement.
I just brought dell inspiron 15 3000 series laptop with Ubuntu and installed windows 8.
For some reasons it does not show mouse cursor. during installation it doesn't show cursor and after installation it is not showing cursor at all.
I installed dell touch pad drivers with all other important chipset drivers but still cursor disappear.
Strange thing is, when i plugin external mouse then cursor appears and when i remove external mouse then again cursor disappear magically.
I own an Inspiron N5110, and dunno why, but the wireless stops working after a while. I had this problem in both windows 7 and ubuntu, and why this problem occurs.
And when it stops, it really means STOP, cause it stops detecting networks, when usually there are like a dozen of these around, and no matter what i do, how many times i disable and re enable it, it never seems to work, until i restart my laptop.
In ubuntu, this problem occurs whenever i download large files, and in windows 7, whenever id start any virtual machine.
All of a sudden, my Lenovo Ideapad P500 (running Win 8) is having sound issues. The sound will stay on for 5-10 minutes when I start it up or put it to sleep and then wake it up. After that, the sound will just quit working? FYI, the Windows 8 updates that were part of the Microsoft monthly security fixes were installed last week and the problem started today?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've updated my Intel Wireless LAN Driver to 17.0.2.5 and since then every time I close the lid (I'm connected through a OneLink docking station) the wifi stop functioning normal (connects to network but shows "Limited" and practically not functioning). If I open back the lid everything goes back to normal, either directly on the laptop or while still working through the docking station.
I'm using a Yoga S1....
The issue was in regards to WiFi not working properly on my Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga S1. After a restart my computer's internet (with WiFi on) would work for a few minutes then it would stop. Long story short, I tried various things, and even uninstalled Norton and other software which I thought may have been a culprit but still the same issue. I also used a USB to Ethernet port (since there is no built in Ethernet port in the ThinkPad Yoga) and connected my computer with a cable and disabled the WiFi to see if it was the wireless hardware not working. Unfortunately still the same issue.
Finally I noticed in the Windows Task Manager a process called "Discover.exe". It turned out this was using some noticeable amount of CPU and wondered what this was doing as I hadn't seen that before. I found out that this was a piece of software bundled in with my computer called Lenovo EMC Storage Connector. I'm not sure why it was running but I ended this process.
Suddenly my internet was working again! This time no problems. I uninstalled this software utility to make sure this doesn't cause this issue again.
I just got a new Ideapad U530 touchscreen laptop yesterday. After a few minutes the keyboard stops working. I uninstalled a few of the Lenovo multimedia programs I don't need. Is there a bios update or a driver I should update after purchase?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter connecting to the internet on my laptop(Dell inspiron 1525, Windows Vista), the internet connection will work great for 5 minutes or less than it slows down drastically or essentially not working at all. If I disconnect and reconnect it will work again but just for a short amount of time. The wireless connection works great on other laptops, tablets and mobile. I have Mcafee antivirus, and it could not detect any malware or viruses. Tried restoring the computer to factory settings and the internet stays connected for what seem a few minutes longer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedBoth me and a friend of mine have Lenovo W540s. Everything was working perfectly fine with all of our hardware, until today. A BIOS update came out and installed correctly on both of our machines. After this update both of our UltraNAV features on the trackpad are all dead. After that first restart a message appeared "finding new hardware" and it found a generic mouse on the laptop. Now when I try to re-install the UltraNav drivers, it says no hardware found. I tried both the drivers on Lenovo.com and the manufacture's website all with no luck.
How to fix our UltraNav pads?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe touchpad of my Inspiron N4050 stops working properly everytime i plug my external HD that is AC powered or the HDMI cable. It doesn't matter if the AC of the laptop is connected or not, the touchpad becomes impossible to use. I tried using it in other places thinking of an energy problem at my place, but it still occurs. Other laptops work normaly with the external harddrive and the HDMI.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble with HP SimplePass. Every so often it stops working and won't input password details for my saved websites. Moreover, if I then try to log in to any website manully, the web browser just hangs and won't log in. If I untick the option to allow HP SimplePass to log in to my saved websites, and then reboot my laptop, I can then log in to websites again. However, if I later re-enable Simple Pass it starts working again, only for the problem to resurface at a later date. Due to the sporadic nature of the problem I have been unable to pinpoint the cause, and, as far as I am aware, I have the most recent version of SimplePass.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have recently purchased a notebook Acer Aspire V5-472PG. It comes with a touchscreen.
In the beginning my touchscreen was working perfecly. But then something happened - and it just stopped suddenly. I thought that this is because my Windows 8 recently updated itself. I started to search for Touchscreen drivers and I couldn't find. Also restarts didn't work and switching off and on HID device.
So i decided to restore the PC to the initial condition. The touchscreen started working again!! I switched off all the updates for Windows 8.
But recently for some reason it instaled some updates by itself, and after some time the touchscreen stopped working again...
