i bought my dell laptop from the website (malaysia), and after a couple of month using the touchpad seems to be not working. Called them and they sent a technician to repair it on site, only to see him bringing 2 parts that were not related to the problem (motherboard & keyboard), which was he replaced mine with the new one anyway.
But that still did not fix the touchpad (in his defense, he said "they" only gave him those parts and he has no clue why), so he said he will get back to me about the touchpad and meet up another day to replace the correct part.
Now im writing not to complaint about the touchpad, but the screen rotation. After the temporary "fix" it seems that whenever i tilt my screen sideways or upside down, screen rotates as normal. Problem is, it wont rotate back to the original orientation when i tilt it back.
Eventually after he left, did some tinkering around and found 3 methods that worked:
1. pressing ctrl + alt + up arrow
2. change the orientation settings in Intel HD graphic properties
3. this one is weird a bit, i had to open up the laptop screen so its flat with the keyboard, THEN only the screen rotation works like normal if i tilt the whole thing upright.
But these methods did not fix the orientation problem, its more of a temporary solution as it wont tilt back to the original position in the "laptop mode".
I have a month old Dell Inspiron 11 3000 that the screen goes black after I login to windows 8. You can see the white mouse icon and move it. It attached to a monitor- that mirrors the black screen. What do I do?
Bluetooth is not at all working on my dell inspiron 15 3000 series 3542 after i installed win 8. I downloaded several Bluetooth drivers from dell, but nothing seems to work. I Have a Bluetooth icon on my task bar but when i connect device it says"no device found."I have run many tests but no luck so provide me with correct Bluetooth software and installation instructions.

I installed a new video driver today (updated to newest), and all of a sudden my screen is flashing before it rotates when i flip it to tent mode or tablet mode. to be specific, when i flip the screen over, the screen flashes off and back on, before rotating. this has never happened before.
I have installed a clean Windows 8.1 on the Helix and have several issues. Putting them into several threads so they can be answered independently. The first thing I did after installing the system (and critical Windows Updates) was running the Lenovo System Update tool and downloading everything.
Screen rotation does not work. In “Device Manager” I can see “C5621 gw Mobile Broadband Geolocation Sensor” and “Hid Sensor Collection”. The HID one has an exclamation mark next to it. Are there some drivers I need to download to make this work. I did of course check if screen rotation is not locked – it is not (I did turn it on/off a couple of times, without any effect). Manual rotation (using display settings) works fine.
I'm an HP user myself, but my girlfriend has an older ACER Aspire 3000 series (about 2.5 years old). I recently reformatted it, and did a clean install using the recovery discs...
Everything seemed to go fine, until I noticed in the disc manager that the Hard Disc has 3 partitions... one is like 3GB, and the other 2 are about 27GB each... One is the Main C: Drive, and the other is called "Acer Data". This is driving me nuts! She only has 27GB of usable storage on her computer, and I can't figure out how to consolidate the 2 Partitions to make 1 large one. Can anyone please help? It's a 60GB harddrive, and I'd hate to see that go to waste for "Acer data" (whatever that is).
Also, the disc was formatted in FAT32... Is there any reason Acer chooses that file system over NTFS? I'd prefer to format the drive with NTFS... I'm just concerned that if I reformat the drive I'll lose all the drivers and stuff. The computer currently doesn't have any programs installed or any data that needs backing up, so I'm not concerned about that stuff.
i'm using lenovo notebook 3000 G430 and i've install windows 7. it seems my notebook cannot enable the wireless lan. i've turn the switch on but cannot press the function key (FN+F5). i've install all the vista driver in the CD but to no avail.
I have a 3000 N100 laptop that would not boot up, I reloaded XPsp3 and now I have no sound, I downloaded The audio Driver from the Lenovo website but i still have no sound.
I saw a few people say there is a UAA HD driver for XPsp2 but does not work for sp3
I just bought a pair of Inspiron 11 3000's and am almost finished "down" grading the o/s from Windows 8 to 7 Pro. I have all of the drivers loaded and working except for a Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller (listed under Other devices). find the Windows 7 driver for this? The Unknown Devices program shows it as Dell and Intel Corporation.
The touchpad on my Inspiron 11 3000 2 in 1 is driving me crazy. I think it's working as intended, but the fact that the area over the buttons is also part of the touchpad means that I'm constantly moving the cursor right before I click on something... It there any way to disable the touchpad area over the buttons?
i have a acer aspire 3000 i got from some relatives but when i turn it on it turns on i can here the fan kick on an the dvd drive go click click and stuff but then fan stops and it goes dead silent and the screen never shows anything from the beggining by any chance do those little switches that shut off the screen when u close it ... .do they ever brake ...? ive tried hooking it up to another monitor but it doesnt show a screen of anything but it must send some type of a signal cause its just a plain blank screen and once i unplug it it sais no signal no signal all over
My Envy15-3000 notebook freezes while starting up. It only makes it to the Starting Windows screen then Microsoft icons stop moving. This has been going on since Tuesday (8/12). I ran checks and the memory and harddrive (quick and full) tests came back positive - i.e. no problems. I finally decided to reformat it yesterday (8/14). It gets all the way through the reformatting process until it wants to start the system for the "first time" (I imagine that this will be the last time it restarts in the recovery process) and still freezes on the Starting Windows screen. If I try to hard shut off and try any other boot up option I can think of (Safe Mode, etc.) it says Recovery Failed and asks me to retry, get details or Save Log. When I retry, it goes back to the freezing. As such, I am now in a seemingly endless loop of retrying the recover to get to the freezing start windows screen.
All I want to do is wipe the hard drive and reload everything. I'm not interested in recovering the old data as I have everything backed up. I got no error messages in my Run it, Memory, etc tests, so I am at a loss as to how to proceed.
I have the original drive recovery/windows 7 DVDs that came with the system.
I have an XT3 with the built-in webcam. When I use the tablet in portrait mode, the webcam image stays oriented for landscape mode. Can we get a driver update to correct the image rotation when using the webcam in portrait mode?
I've come to just about my wits end with the Yoga 2 Pro transitions. The sensors are just far too touchy for my liking.
For example, If I lean forward at all with it or lay the screen flat, the keyboard and touchpad disables and/or the screen rotates 180 degrees because it thinks I'm in a different mode. Sometimes I lay on my side and rotate the computer 90 degrees with me and the screen rotates, which is not what I want.
I am having extreme difficulty discovering where to disable the rotation and keyboard/mouse disabling. Where I can find the option to either alter this feature to my liking or shut it off completely?
I bought the Aspire R13 just 2 days ago, but the screen visualization doesn't automatically orientate when I rotate the display. I checked the auto rotation on the screen properties and it is on.
The auto rotation was the main reason to choose this new laptop....Could be the sensors do not work properly?
I'm attempting to use a dv7-3000 running win764 with a TC Electronic Studio Konnekt 48 firewire audio interface, but I'm not having much luck. Basically, I see the interface lose sync and regain sync every few seconds. Sometimes, it loses sync for up to a minute, but then regains it. With the loss of sync, I also see have the cursor freeze momentarily.
Now, I know this seems device specific, but I can assure you I have done some testing to rule that out.
The device fails with the same or similar issue when:
*I use the onboard 1394a port with the jmicron driver, win7 stock driver, or win7 stock driver in legacy mode.
*I do the above in win7 32 bit or 64 bit, with any combo of device drivers from the device manufacturer at any buffer setting
*I use the intel chipset drivers, both current and previous.
*I use stock chipset drivers.
*I use the most recent and previous intel matrix drivers
*I use the most recent and previous BIOS.................
well i have a very old dell demension 3000, i saw restoring the os with a hidden partition/program created by dell can restore to factory settings. but the thing is if it fails i dont want to go by windows xp/windows vista os operating disk/activation key
the laptop will boot up then freeze/lock up when all my desktop icons and windows bar at the bottom load up. The mouse won't move, the keyboard won't work. I've been told it may be either the RAM or hard drive, maybe even the battery. I haven't brought it to a professional yet because I'm dreading paying a ton of money for a cheap laptop.
the hole on the laptop where you plug in the charger seems to be broken. the charger itself still has a green light, so i don't think that is the problem. i would have to sit there and hold the charger in a certain place the entire time i was on it. and it seemed to be harder and harder to get it to charge until eventually it stopped all together. what i want to do is download all of my pictures on there to a disc. i don't have a problem sending it to acer and getting it fixed, but i don't want the hard drive wiped clean yet. all i really need is a charged battery to borrow for like 20 minutes until i am finished downloading my pictures. i live in erie,pa. unless there is another way to charge the battery i have? or some other solution.
started with USB thumb drives not showing in MY Computer but visible every where else, getting a drive letter etc. After abunch of investigation I finally seemed to isolate the problem to some Apple Itunes related software. I used MSCONFIG to shut off the apple updater and some other Apple Ipod related startup software. THe USB problem went away. I decided to then do a little cleanup and get rid of some software installs, I remove Apple Mobile Device support and Apple updater as well as US service. This seemed to go well but I got a software may not work right with out a reboot so I did. On reboot I again got a software needs a reboot I did it again. Now the wierdness starts, my USB problem is gone but I now have a visible F: drive called PQSERVICE, checking with disk managment in system tools I see all my partitions but in Disk MAnagement none of them show a drive letter but all are visible in My Computer and in programs with their correct drive letters. THe machine boots fine and all files are there. I used PTEDIT and see the PQSERVICE partion has a type of 12 which from what I can find should be hidden. My Alt F10 seems to take me to the partition even though it is visble, I did not choose to restore as I really want to figure this out before I re-format this laptop. My concern is why can't I hide PQSERVICE and why are there no drive letters showing in Disk Management? I know most people want to make PQSERVICE visible but I want it to go back to the way it was. Also the PQSERVICE shows a EISA Configuration Healthy in disk Management and therefore I can't do anything to it.
I am experiencing a system freeze at windows welcome screen or on desktop at random moments for more than 6 months, and it is because of the intel hd graphics, so at the moment I don't have the driver installed.
I have an Acer Aspire 3000. I shut it down last night and started it up today. It gets to the login screen where I have to push ctrl + alt + del to log in. At this point it freezes. The touchpad and keys are nonresponsive. I can however get to the boot menu before this point.
regarding the OS intermittently crashing on startup and keyboard/ touchpad not working - Basically, when the machine boots up, XP will load but then freezes when I try to open applications (I.E. for example) and I have to reboot. Now, the keypad has stopped working (although it works in safe mode).
So, I formatted the HD, used the recovery disks to reload winXP and everything appeared to work - except when I tried to install SP2. All other updates install OK but when SP2 installs and my laptop reboots, it gets caught in a rebooting loop and won't load. I read somewhere that this can happen if the Bios is out of date. My problem is that I'm nervous about using the updated bios I downloaded from Acer's site as I've heard it can go wrong and kill my motherboard plus the fact I don't know how to use the programme I downloaded from Acer (Winphlash).
when i turn on my Acer Aspire 3000 i put in my password then it makes me choose a windows xp as i have a dual boot but even if i choose either one it give me the message: "windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt <Windows root>system32hall.dll
