Acer Aspire E5-551 :: Fresh Install On SSD - Windows 8.1
Feb 25, 2015
I bought a Aspire E5-551 on amazon second hand. Had a fresh Windows 8.1 on it. Turn it on, mess around, everything seems fine if not slow due to the HDD. Pop in a new SSD I bought that tested OK on with another computer. Install Windows 8.1 Via USB. It get to the part will it tell me to restart, upon restart it will always hang at getting ready or some such thing. I let it set for hours, even the spinning icon stropped spinning.
So I reset the laptop via the power button. I get the error "The Computer Restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error" and tell me to restart. It will keep doing this no matter how many times I click restart. Never had this issues with all the other computers or laptops I ever installed 8.1 one but the internet has a solution. While the "The Computer Restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error" is on screen you can bring up cmd line via shift+f10 and bring up regedit. The fix is to go to HKLocal machine/SYSTEM/SETUP/STATUS/ChildCompletion and change the setup.exe key to 3. After this I'll get some issues with blank screens upon restart but after 1 or 2 reboots i get to my desktop. Though the desktop doesn't have all the apps and things a fresh windows install comes with.
Like IE is not even listed on the start menu. Looks like a halve baked install or something. But everything is fine. While like this I can reboot the machine a bunch. Click around, seems okay. Seems like all is well till I start installing drivers. Ill go installing drivers then the machine will stop responding to clicks but the mouse still moves around. When I reboot it like this Ill get struck at "getting ready" and i'll never be able to get to my desktop again. Now I can get into safe mode and Ill uninstall all the drivers but when I try to do a regular boot ill just hang at "getting ready'.
I bought my Acer Aspire E1-570G in february , and since then im having random blue screens with different codes . Im trying everything to fix this problem almost everyday, and believe me soon i will break it on 2 pieces . Nothing is fixing the problem ... I have bsod files that i can post for u to see them but i dont think they really matter because i get RANDOM bsods. Every time is different ( there are around 10 different codes given that i remember ). If its really needed i can post the codes.
I have sent the laptop to the main service in my country and they said that the laptop " passed the tests" . After coming home and turning my pc on .. BSOD . The laptop went to the service again - This time they changed my HDD . It didnt fix the problem . I cant change my laptop with the warranty because the service says that the laptop is okay .
I have an Acer 6930ZG with a fresh install of windows 7 RC 32bit. I can play Call Of Duty 4, Counter Strike, Flatout 2 etc. with no problems! But when I try to open MapleStory a blue screen appears, and begin to make a physcial memory dump? . MapleStory is a 2D-game, and Call Of Duty requires much more.
I made a little research, and I found out that alot of people have the same problem, and they said it was caused by a conflict with a program or hardware drivers. I have tried to delete my NVIDIA driver, and install it again. No luck.
And yes, I have also tried to run MapleStory in compatibily mode
As I said: It's only in MapleStory I experience the problem, and I don't think it's ram-failure, since I have seen the same problem on a different computer, and I can play Call of Duty 4.
Here is the system log: Problemsignatur: Navn på problemhændelse:BlueScreen OS-version:6.1.7100.2.0.0.256.1 Landestandard-id:1030.....................
I replaced hard drive with SSD and installed windows 7 ultimate (X64) on my HP Pavilion G4 notebook. However, I am not able to install switchable graphics on my laptop now.  I have tried this 1. Installed HPSA and ran update and tuneup. It asked me to update "AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver" but it failed with multiple retries and after some time now it doesnt ask to do this update at all. Now everything is green in HPSA but I am still not able to switch the graphics 2. Tried to download from HP drivers page but it says "AMD Catalyst Mobility cannot be downloaded due to incompatible harware/software on your computer" 3. Tried uninstalling the driver but windows updates the drivers automatically. 4. I also updated BIOS as suggested at [URL] ..... but still no luck......  Product Name: HP Pavilion g4 Notebook PC Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Service Pack 1 Product number : LQ375PA#AB
My new DV7t Quad should be coming on Friday. Right now it is stuck in China, but I was wondering. Would it be better to keep the Windows 7 that they have install on the computer, or should I do a clean install? Right now, I have Windows 7 Ultimate running my old laptop, however, I only the disk for the 32 bit. While my Quad will be a 64 bit.
So if it would be a benefit to do a clean install, could someone explain how to do it without having a new windows 7 disk. I did order the system restore disks from HP when I bought the computer.
My Y580 should be arriving shortly. I got it on the Black Friday Special and it comes with Windows 8. I bought a SSD to replace the HDD and I am wanting to downgrade it to a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate or Pro and I have a couple questions: Â How to do this for the Y580? I have not been able to locate one. Â Also I am assuming I would not want to use the Windows 8 device drivers correct? Do I use the Windows 7 device drivers? Â Would use the drivers from the Lenovo site or each devices specific website? I am going to try to save them on a DVD in advance and want to be prepared.
Just ordered E6400 with Windows Vista Home Basic and will install Windows XP SP2 as soon as it is landed. Is there anything I need to know before installing XP in E6400 (e.g. back up driver, compatibility with hardware, etc)?
I've got a XPS 15 L521x that was running Windows 7 for weeks with out incident. I decided I'd like to try Windows 8. I installed (after changing Sata to AHCI) without incident. After the install completes I reboot and it crashes. The OS goes to "attempting repairs". I can run a "refresh" of the OS and it will fix the issue and then crash again after a reboot.
My windows 8.1 updated was get problem it ask  for refresh windows i refresh now i get low space in C: drive i want to install fresh windows to get more sapce on C drive only without lossing data from my other drives now how I do that
I am pretty sure I just don't have the right drivers. I installed the Renesas drivers from the HP downloads page but they didn't solve the issue(so I uninstalled them).
I brought my Inspiron 600m back to life and did a fresh install of Windows XP SP2. After that I began installing drivers for it from Dell.com at the following link.
[URL] ....
Now there wasn't any  drivers that other recommended like chipset/system drivers available when searching by service tag. However if you search by model (600m) a lot more come up. Im not sure if I should download any of them.
My problem is it cannot connect to the internet and the ethernet port is dead. I have no error messages. I tried LANÂ connections using an ethernet cable to another machine and it does not take.
I am running Intel PROSet/Wireless and it does see nearby networks but cannot connect. It says configuration failed. I have read all the usual documents for troubleshooting but no solution yet. I have heard there where some flaws with this model and some of the equipment.Â
I have a hp envy m6 sleekbook model. anyways ever since I installed windows 8.1 fresh my touchpad wont work to a point. Ill install the driver and it works fine till I shutdown the laptop and restart it. Im pretty sure the driver is auto updating and not working correctly.
I just did a system restore of windows 8 (clean wipe) and went through the process of reinstalling all the drivers. Â I installed the latest version SmartAudio (8.32.43.0). Â In Google hang out it said the microphone wasn't working, then I clicked on the settings and made the internal mic the default, I got good mic for 1 second. Â Did it again and the same thing. Â But this is only for a single second. Â In skype I tried the same thing and it is just super quite, it doesn't register on the scale unless I blow directly into the mic (so I know it's picking something up). Â Last week I had my upgraded from win 7 Windows 8 install working just fine with the microphone (zero problems ever before with this thing). Â I checked in mic properties and DB and volume are set to max. So what is it about the fresh install that is making the mic all cracked out? (I checked the SmartAudio settings too) I'm having issues with my Bluetooth mouse too(disconnects at restart and have to reinstall) and Power Manager (it doesn't show up as a toolbar anymore). Â P.S.. I've gone to the X220 site and downloaded the latest drivers and installed system update.
I admit that I messed up in trying to reinstall Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit without reformatting and using a flash drive and instructions downloaded from YouTube. And yes, I have learned a great lesson from this experience. Now I have purchased from DELLÂ a Windows 7 CD along with a drivers CDÂ for me to start over with. I would like to know how to do this the right way. I have a Inspiron laptop model 17R N7110. I am hoping that this fresh install will put this laptop back like it was when it was new. Minus the bloatware of course.
I am about to re-install Windows on my friend's laptop, an Aspire 4520.
I am not super familiar with laptops, however I have noted that at the top of his desktop, there is an utility program, a toolbar that I think is called Empowering Technology. My friend uses it mainly to check his battery charge level, although there are a few other tools in this bar, like "acer eData Security Management".
The problem is, if I reinstall Windows, all programs on the Windows partition will be erased. That included this program/toolbar. And I don't know where to get back it back...like where to download a new one for installation.
my gf has aspire 5100 with vista in it, and it sucks so I decided to install xp to it. I reseached from google that does it support xp and does it work and found out that it does, you just need to make custom xp-install disc to get the HDD drivers so that xp-installation finds the HDD.
When I install xp, I get past the filecopying-part fine, then it reboots as usual and tries to start windows, but in the loading screen with xp-logo it gives me bluescreen.
0x0000007B is the error.
I've tried many installing over and over again, but with no luck. Its possible that my xp-cd is damaged in some way, but I just dont think so.
Any solution? Seems like everyone else has had no problems with installing xp to aspire 5100 vista.
I believe that istalling vista back works, but its not the right solution, since its piece of **** and slow as ****.
i just bought an acer aspire 5102wlmi without a HD for a friend. so i went and bought a HD and proceeded to install windows XP home service pack 2.
the problem is it constantly stays in a loop, i load and boot from the disc, it copies all the files, reboots, loads the files, says starting windows, and then just starts all over by going back to the setup screen. i've formatted the drive and made multiple attempts. had anyone else had this problem? if so what is the solution?
I've Acer Aspire V5-431 with Intel Celeron 1007U @1.5Ghz with 4GB of RAM, but whenever I tried to install Windows 8, it's always came with Blue Screen of Dead and it's shows this error IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.
I have a problem with my Acer Aspire one D250. One week ago my HDD didnt work and I bought another HDD. I dont have CD for reinstall windows XP that it was installed. Now I wanted to install windows 7 starter but impossible. He says he can not because the BIOS might not be compatible with the operating system and then tells me that if I want to load drivers. I'm a little desperate. I changed in the BIOS mode IDE hard drive to AHCI and vice versa. If I put IDE and try to install windows 7 does not recognize the disk (I have to put in AHCI).  The message I get is:You can not install windows on this HDD. It is possible that the hardware of this equipment is not capable of booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu. Another warning he gives is:The installation program can not create a new system partition or locate an existing one. See the log files installation program for more information.  I updated the BIOS version to the last (1.29).
I bought Acer E5-527G-77BU. I installed windows 8.1 Pro with no problem. But I really don't like this windows and I want to install Windows 7. But when I plug in DVD or flash drive with windows, I don't get the boot option for it (in the f12 boot menu). If I put in the Win 8.1 DVD everything is fine. I can chose it from the menu.
For the last 2 days I have been trying to install Windows 7 x64 in UEFI mode on my laptop but it seems entirely impossible. Whatever I do, the boot menu (F12) just won't show any UEFI devices AT ALL, just the normal DVD and/or USB options. Obviously when I try to boot from either normal DVD or USB, Windows 7 setup freezes at the "Starting Windows" screen, I'm pretty sure that's because it is not running the EFI bootloader of the setup. Â For the record, I can't just install Windows 7 in Legacy/BIOS mode because it is then impossible to install the Synaptics Touchpad driver under Windows because the Touchpad device is not discovered for whatever reason.

Just did a fresh install of XP on my bootcamp partition. And I can't gat any drivers to work correctly with the 9600m GT. Tried several drivers from Laptopvideo2go.com, but they keep reverting to a basic VGA res and color depth. It will not let me adjust any settings.
It says sothing about the currently installed graphics drivers was written for a previous windows installation, so teh default VGA driver will be used.
If anyone has any info to help a guy out here it would be greatly appreciated.
I never experienced any issues like this on either Vista x64 or Win7 X84/64.
