Acer Aspire V3-771G :: Battery Won't Charge Past 98%
Jan 27, 2015I have an Acer Aspire V3-771G which I got in 2013. I've had no battery problems before. Earlier this month I noticed that the orange charging light remained on longer than usual. I turned my computer on and noticed that it said that the battery was 98% charged and charging.I have not done the procedure of discharging and recharging the battery three times as mentioned in the manual.
I have not removed the battery since I first installed it (it came with the computer). I don't normally use the laptop on battery power unless it happens to be on during a power outage.I would like to know if I need a new battery or not, as I am concerned as to if the laptop will be continuously trying to fully charge the battery thus wearing it out prematurely.The computer came with Windows 8. I have installed Windows 8.1.

May 10, 2009I have a new studio XPS 1640, and I've noticed I cant get it to charge past 90% charge...
In the battery settings it says that there is like 3 hrs left to full charge..
Please let me know if there is a fix for this, I've only used the system like 3 times and it is brand new. I have to most updated Bios as well.

Apr 21, 2009I've had my laptop for only 2 weeks (I bought it brand new), and I've never had this problem before. Starting today, my battery wouldn't charge past 82%. It charges fine until it reaches 82%.
Then, it just suddenly stops charging. After looking at an advanced battery monitor, I saw that the charge rate after hitting 82% was 0 mW (no charge...). Is this a battery monitor calibration problem? Or a battery problem? I've only had my laptop for 2 weeks...

Dec 18, 2014Starting last week my laptop has been experience some battery issues. I noticed first that when it got to around 25 or 30% battery, it would suddenly go into sleep mode (at least, that's what I think it's doing. When I plug it in and turn it back on, the HP loading screen appears, but everything else returns to exactly how it was). Once back on, the battery has been reduced to 1%.
Also, it won't charge past certain percentages, which are gretting progressively lower. At first it was 98%, then 93%, and at the moment 35%. It will say that it is charging, however.
When I use HP Support Assistant, my battery displays as "Okay". My friend used a program that drained my battery as fast as it could (I can't remember what that type of program is called) and I think he said that it did it in about 25 minutes or so, which is expected of a laptop of this age (about a year and a half old).

Aug 13, 2008I've had my Acer Aspire 3050-1905 for about 8-9 months. For the most part I've always left the a/c plugged in. Well a few days ago I decided to drain the battery and when I charged the battery it won't go past 4% charged. It works fine with the battery out
and ac plugged in. But when I try to charge the battery it won't go past 4%. I used NHC and the wear level is at 0%.

Nov 14, 2014I bought a new battery for my Aspire-One (AOA110) netbook. I flashed the BIOS according to instructions and, after waiting for a day while the netbook was telling me that the battery was being charged, the netbook told me that the battery was 100% charged. I disconnected the charging cable and, immediately, the netbook told me that I had to reconnect it because the netbook was out of power. The battery charge had immediately dropped from 100% to 0%!
I have repeated the same operation several times, with identical results. Is the new battery defective? Or should I do something else?

Nov 4, 2014I have a Travelmate B113. Its battery is in and battery/charge indicator shows that it is connected.
But it doesn't charge the battery at all and when I move my mouse on battery indicator at bottom right of screen, it shows " Plugged in and not charging".
I removed battery several times and inserted again. but nothing.

Nov 20, 2014The computer is in dead state the next morning after I switched its Windows power plan to high performance. In order to unlock power plan options, I disabled connected standby via a registry key in HKLMSystemControlSet001ControlPowerCsEnabled to 0.
After investigating, I read that this computer doesn't support normal hibernate wake-up process other than connected standby. I select shut down option in the menu (hibernate option disappeared). It's possible that shut down option in the menu was actually set to sleep/hibernate in power settings by default.
The battery was at 100% before I last turned it off.
The LED power indicator doesn't light on when power supply is connected on either DC or microUsb.

Jun 17, 2009My 5920G Acer Notebook freezes, mainly in the first half hour after boot, completely in Windows. I'm not sure what it causes since it happens at most random moment (not in idle though).
It is just completely stuck and nothing responds anymore, causing me to have to reset it using the power button although it should 'automatically restart on freeze'.
When it then starts up again, it 4 of the 5 cases it shows a black screen, not even a BIOS post. There's just nothing. The computer turns itself off again and does it over again.
Sometimes it gets a little further (at windows boot) but then freezes at that point. Or sometimes it freezes at the Acer POST screen.
It also seems to reset the BIOS every time this happens, since I turned the ACER screen off but it keeps coming back.
I first believed it had something to do with heat, although the temperatures at which the computer freezed (I had speedfan running once when it crashed) were around 60 degrees for CPU and GPU and 50 for HDD (which is acceptable right).
What I believe is that it has something to do with the GPU. Sometimes it also shows artifacts at random places on the screen before killing itself and this would also explain why it wouldn't show up anything when I turn it on.
I'm still planning to run memtest86 to test the memory.

Mar 10, 2010I have a Dell Inspiron 1525. The 6-cell battery that came with it stopped holding its charge, so I bought a new 9-cell battery. Now that one won't hold a charge. I figured it must be the cord, so I bought a new one. It still won't hold a charge. When I run my mouse over the battery icon, it says XX% (currently 37%) available (plugged in, not charging). I know just enough about computers to be dangerous, but not enough to figure out what is wrong. Can anyone help me trouble shoot?

Jun 1, 2009i've had my Z for for a couple weeks now. previously i had a vaio FW which has been used for a good year or so. by now, the battery on my FW is pretty much useless because it cannot hold enough charge to keep the laptop running for 10 min without the charger being plugged in. however, i notice that my brand new Z isnt able to hold the charge 100% either. this was the case for my FW as well, and it progressively got worse to the point where, as mentioned, i couldnt run it without it plugged in. what's can i do about this? i'm trying to prevent this from happening to my Z since i will most definitely need it to run on battery life for a couple of hours during classes. when using my Z at home, i normally keep it plugged in (it have not let it reach 0% battery life yet). i've been keeping it plugged in even when it is off..that is the only way i see 100% battery life upon start up. if i leave it unplugged, when starting up, it will only display 96-98%. the longer i leave it unplugged, the lower the charge is when i start it up again (after about 8 hours unplugged and shut off, it'll show 92% at start up).

Feb 22, 2009A while back I booted up the notebook and my battery light began blinking rapidly. The battery icon says the battery was at 100%, but it wont run or start up on the battery alone. I took this as being a battery issue and I've just been running it of the wall.
Just recently I bought a new battery and it ran off the new battery, which still had some juice (about 40%). I plugged the charger in and to my dissmay, watched the battery level decrease. So i'm thinking this is more of a laptop issue and not a battery issue....

Jan 18, 2010My dv5t won't take a charge. The charge indicator light does not come on and the battery charge indicator graphic in windows doesn't show it is charging (plus the AC adapter isn't getting warm). My laptop is now out of charge and I have no way to use it. I think the connector at the PC end might be loose or something, but perhaps it is just the AC charge adapter.
The reason I say the conenctor at the laptop end might be loose it because I can wiggle the charging plug around in the socket quite a bit when it is plugged into the laptop power socket (the round socket at the rear of the right side). Sometimes the charge plug has weight on it when in my lap since the darn things sticks out so much, and I am wondering if I have caused the socket to malfunction internally (loose lead or something?).

Only problem is that the battery (it's the extended battery - not sure how many cells) just will not charge. It has been plugged in all day so far today and it still reads as 0%, and when you unplug it, the computer will just die (because no battery power).
Granted the unit WAS an "open box" when I bought it so perhaps this is the reason it was originally returned, even though the unit looked brand new. What can I do to resolve this problem other?

Feb 2, 2009I have replaced the battery. A computer repairperson has had me run the battery down and then charge it completely before I turn the computer on again. That would work sometimes. It would sometimes recharge if I unplugged it, shut off the computer, took the battery out, then replaced the battery and plugged it into the power cord. The computer had sometimes run on the power cord other times it would continue to run on the battery when it was plugged into the power cord. The computer battery has run down, even though plugged into the power cord. It will not recognize the power cord and charge. I have put the old battery into the computer and turned it on, so I know the computer will work with power. It does not charge the old battery either. I left the battery out for about 12 hours, replaced it, plugged it in and it still doesn't charge. There is not enough power in the battery to turn the computer on at this time. I would like to be able to charge it long enough to be able to get any files off the computer that haven't been backed up.

Nov 4, 2009This seems to happen fairly often. Yesterday I had my computer on standby and plugged into the mains for several hours in the afternoon. I turned it on, shut it down (without looking at the battery status) and went somewhere and when I turned it back on the charge was at 6%.
Today I was using the laptop and the charge was at 70%, I shut the computer down and put it in my bag. Turned it on again in a couple of hours and the battery again is at 6%.
