If I add an extra 1Gb chip into the spare slot under fan casing it comes up on start up as file missing system32drivers tfs.sys. If I remove the original chip and replace with one 1Gb card only it fires up ok, but again when you try to add the second 1Gb card the same error message, file missing system32drivers tfs,sys comes up.I have looked at a PDF of the instruction manual and follwed to the letter as far as ram upgrade but at this juncture am now completely at a loss as to what to do next.The 2200 will support 2Gb ram so why cant I load it?
I have a Dell Inspiron 2200, Windows XP, about 4-5 years old (2005), but works for me.
The thing is, I went to boot up and it said I need to log in. That's not a problem, except there's only one profile and I didn't log out. The real problem is that when I click "log in" it logs me in, it flashes the background and logs me back out. This is NOT a password problem.
I'm pretty sure I know what caused the problem - my stupid behavior. Instead of doing the smart thing (I was tired) I searched for "AOL," all files. And I deleted everything I could. THEN, I got smart and decided to uninstall it (strangely enough, it worked...).
Why does my Inspiron 2200 turn on again after I put it on stand by? I put it on stand by and it turns back on by itself in about an hour.Â

I see a lot of generic ones, but I know a lot of them are not safely made and the quality is poor.
Just installed Windows 7 and noticed that under Win7 there are even fewer resolutions available than under Vista.
I assume it is because of the reliance on Generic PnP Monitor driver.
Anyone try another monitor driver for the RGB LED 1920x1080 SXPS 16?.

I have had this laptop for 2 years and after the first year I had to replace both battery and adapter.
The first generic adapter I got was fine until the cable split (my fault as I was wrapping the cord around the brick).
I got the second generic from the same place I got the first.
I bought the new one last month and since then I have sporadically received a message that the adapter wasn't OEM and that it wouldn't charge the battery.
It would get back to charging after a reboot or stand by.
Now I have tried everything but it won't get back to charging the battery.
I did a search here and found others with the same problem (different dell laptops) solving the issue by flashing the bios.
Can anybody point me to the correct file I should download for my laptop as well as explain what should be done to flash the bios
i found my notebook-ACER is attacked by the virus. and i killed these virus by 360 anti-virus software, but there is in vain. my computer works so slow, i'm worry about it.

i have a generic battery being used in a G60-249WM laptop and any time the laptop is left and placed somewhere else while on, such as a table or desk, the battery i believe may be losing contact, as the computer just shuts off. what repair can i do, so that my 12 cell battery will work ? oddly, the genuine 6 cell fits and doesn't cause a poweroff when moved.
there is slight wiggleability with the generic 12 cell. for small, but still.

Recently I got my new inspiron n5110. after i had installed OS, i installed drivers, with bluetooth driver amongst them. I managed to make everything work just fine, except bluetooth radio. I downloaded original driver from Dell support page and installed it, but device manager shows "Generic bluetooth device" with a little yellow exclamation mark. when i go to the properties of the device, it says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)". i tried a lots of things but none worked. then finally i tried to uninstall driver, and found out that uninstaller throws error: "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." i'm running win7 enterprise x64 ....

Pros I found out so far (which are relevant):
- Great battery life, I had 35% left, and I still managed to get 3.5 hours out of it, including one hour streaming (reasonable quality), and half an hour playing Diablo II (game). I'm gonna give an update tomorrow!
- looks are quite nice
- very responsive
- plays 720P and 1080P fluently
- camera works
- wifi works good
- volume of speakers is good
- can be installed from within the windows OS
- pinguin
Cons
- two finger scrolling doesn't work yet, only one finger (using the edge) scrolling.
- keyboard layout had to be set to US
- unfamiliar applications, for some windows applications you might not have a substitute, but that's a con of Linux in general...

I haven't been able to locate a Windows 7 x64 version of Acer eRecovery.
I can get to the basic operating system required for restoring user backup files by inserting the Restore CD in the CDROM. But if I select Restore from the eRecovery menu, after selecting the desired restore file the PC reboots into normal startup mode instead of rebooting into basic operating system for the Restore function.
I have an Acer Aspire V3-772g, a relatively new laptop (8 months old), which randomly decided to stop booting.

Was playing a game just fine. Shut down as normal, went to work, came home 8 hours later, attempted to boot - nothing.
Exact problem: Hit power button, power button comes on. Light next to the lightbulb (power light?) Comes on, stays solid. Charging stays solid orange/blue.
HDD light? Flickers. Screen flickers a dark grey color that may be the very initial part of a startup. No acer logo.The screen and HDD light flicker in synchronisation, at the same exact time. You can hear the fans fire up, and the HDD spin up. Screen just flickers about once per second (it's very faint.)
--Heres what I've tried---
-Removing power cord/battery, holding button for 60 seconds 3 times, plugging back in and powering up.
- Almost every varation of that, I have attempted.
-Inserting a new harddrive. Same result.
-Plugging in an external monitor. (Tried VGA and HDMI)
- Power does not transfer to external monitors. Screen still flickers on laptop, no change in behavior.
-Removed 1 stick of RAM - No **BUT** behavior changes slightly. Flickering of screen and HD light reduced to about once every 45 seconds rather than once every second.
-Removed both sticks of RAM - no flickering, no HDD light flickering. Pure black screen.
-Rotated the sticks of RAM - No change.
Also interestingly, with everything normal, if I hold Fn+Esc, the computer will do a new startup process (Screen still black), then after about 20 seconds goes into the normal screen flickering/HDD indicator flickering. Different behavior, slightly.
I have an Aspire E1-572 that is five months old, running Win 8.1. Â I've loved the notebook to this point, but now the speakers have quit working completely (the headphone jack still works). Â I called tech support and they had me delete and reinstall the driver (Realtech high definition audio), which made no difference. Â

She then told me the next step is to refresh my Windows installation, which will apparently blow away everything I've installed since it was new. Â I declined to do that because I really don't want to spend an entire day reinstalling all the programs, even though I have the data backed up. I manage to pair my 2-in-1 pc Acer Switch 10 with an externat Bluetooth (bt) device only when the tablet is connected to my home wifi network. As soon as I disconnect from the wifi network, the pairing with the bt device is disabled. If I try to pair the bt device when wifi connection is off, the pairing succeeds just for a few seconds (1 or 2) and then it disconnects.
The support assistance of the bt device, since it actually manages to pair with the pc in such wifi wird conditions, suggested that it probably can be a problem due to the chip of the pc that probably manages both the wifi and the bt connections and is not able to manage them separately.

I have one of the higher end specs of the 8930g but it is struggling with simple stuff. Even FireFox can get CPU to 100%!
I recently bought a hauppauge hd pvr and when I tried to edit video it became very slow!
It has quad core 2ghz processor 6m cache 1066fsb. When I paid £1200 for it I would have thought it would he more than good enough for stuff like this. Would upgrading the processor fix this problem?

I have an 1810TZ and then I bought an 1810T. (Long Story)
My problem is with the TZ:
I made an Image of the system, as suggested, then I "Upgraded" the Win 7 Home system to Pro.
But I screwed up by installing the 32bit version instead of the 64bit.
The only way it would let me come back to the 64bit version of Pro was to do a "Clean install".
Here’s my problem:
1) Now the PC takes a Loooong Time to boot.
2) The PC has a 320Gb HDD but shows only 185Gb of "Total space" on C: .
The T with the same HDD, shows 285Gb total space.
Wow... Win 7 Pro takes 35GB of disk space? Did I do something wrong here too?
3) Now there is a hidden "System" D: drive using 100Mb, that was not there before.
I don't know how to get rid of the D: drive. It won't let me delete it or access it.
Something is weird here. I did not install any applications yet.
The PC does not recognize the "Image Disks" I made.
I started to re-install Win 7 Pro… but I didn't think that would get rid of the D: drive or fix the problem, so I didn't do it.
I think I need to re-format the HDD. But I'm not sure how to do it right and don't want to make things worse.
This is not the DOS 3.1 machine I used to have.

When I got the 1810T I did a “Clean install” of WIN 7 Pro 64bit before I did anything else. There are no problems with the "T".
I ordered a Factory System Disk for the "TZ" from Acer and it should be here in a couple of days. I ordered it before I found this forum.
I just installed Windows 7 x64 from scratch. Thing is, it shows 4GB of installed memory, but only 3GB is accessible.
Resource Monitor shows 1026MB of memory being "hardware reserved".
I've had this problem ever since adding the 4GBx2 sticks (DDR2-667) in my machine. I've tried 3.50 and 3.60 bios on Acer's site, but it doesn't make a difference.
Processor is a T5500, but the chipset is i945PM, so it supports 4GB of ram. Is there a way to remap the ram so that the whole 4GB can be used?
my acer 3680 had crashed andi has nstalled an xp cd from dell which went fine..but in the device manager under other devices theres yellow question marks next to everything under that tab..drivers i need im sure its all to do with internet not working..but dell driver wont install..so what do i do for these drivers the acer had vista to begin with..evrything else works fine just cant or dont know how to get the drivers..

View 5 Replies View Relatedwhen I received my new 1810TZ last night was nuke it, kill the partitions, and start fresh. Installed my copy of Win7 Pro, and everything was good. All the drivers set up without issue.
Except the Bluetooth ones.
When I first ran the BT launcher, it said it couldn't find BT on my computer, and quit. So I dug into the folders and ran the installers manually.
As you can see, Windows apparently agrees that I have BT installed. In fact, after manually installing the drivers, running the BT launcher brings up a Repair dialogue. For all intents and purposes, Windows seems to be happy with my BT drivers.
Except that Windows itself won't run any Bluetooth software. When I type "Bluetooth" in the Start Menu box, I don't see options for "Add Bluetooth Devices" and the like. There's likewise nothing under the Control Panel, nor anything in my Programs lists.
If the drivers (supposedly) installed correctly, and the OS installed without incident, why can't I set up any Bluetooth pairings?

When I hit the green leaf, the icon no longer pops up on the screen, but it does seem to do the same thing as it did on vista, I just have no notification... is this normal for W7RC?
