Acer :: TM 7730 No Sound On HDTV
Jun 28, 2009
i vûconnected my laptop via HDMI cable to my LCD TV. The video is fine, but the sound comes only through my pc. I read on this and other forums that i should set the HDMI audio output device to default in the audio options, but it's not active to me.

I have an early 08 MBP (non unibody) and I want to hook it up to my samsung HDTV to play movies. I have a DVI to HDMI cable that covers video and it works fine but so far that makes it work like a really REALLY big monitor. Since DVI doesn't output sound what do I use to get the sound to output to the tv as well?
Does this work?
[url]
I notice in one of the reviews one person states they used this to connect their MBP to their HDTV, I was just wondering if it would work for my model as well?

Acer Aspire 7730 584G16Mn System bios v0.3509
I want to run xp on this pre-installed vista home basic laptop and to cut a long story short have installed xp in Sata Mode: Ide because all the other methods tried ie:nlite slipstreaming have not worked for me
Now I have xp working I would like to enable AHCI mode in the bios but the various tutorials Ive looked at so far have been unsuccessful.
Has anyone who has this model Aspire 7730 been successful in this procedure or knows a way that has worked for others?
I repeat that this should be a procedure that is Aspire 7730 specific as I feel this is the key.

A friend of mine has an Acer 7730 and I think his WiFi button is broke. Every time he presses it, it spouts a random set or r[]'s when the light flashes (every 5secs ish). It was suggested he had a virus and so a full reinstall was done, but now I've looked at it I think its a dodgy key! The original keyboard has been replaced as I think something was spilt on it, but of course the keys down the left are seperate.
So long story short, he cant get on the internet as pressing the key makes any text go rrrr[[[[[]]]]]] etc etc. Is there anyway to enable WiFi without this button? and can it be replaced?

I've got an Aspire 7730 which is about a month old. Everything is working fine except the subwoofer seems to be very weak. You need to put your ear up against it to hear anything at all so it's more or less useless as is. My brother's 5920 has a very good subwoofer and the sound output is excellent from it.
Would anyone know if this is normal for the 7730 or do I have a faulty subwoofer?

a couple of months ago my brother bought a big HDTV to use as a TV and a monitor. To me it didn't look good at all, it's hard to describe but it just didn't look proper. Since then we recently got one for the living room too, and I have to say I'm very disappointed. It looks the same as my brothers, kind of fuzzy, like the FPS isn't as good, and rather pixelly :S and this is when watching TV. Our old school TV looked 10 times better. Also, when hooked up to my M1710 it looks absolutely horrible, even at 1900 res.

I have a FW490 laptop with a BluRay player. I would really like to watch blurays on my HDTV, however, there are two problems. I connect via HDMI cable, and the screen is does not go full screen. The laptop recognizes that the TV is 720p and it changes the resolution automatically, but there are black bars on the side as well as above and below what is displayed on the TV. The second problem is that the audio sounds awful. I turn on the 5.1 surround I have attached to the TV, but it still sounds horrible ie. the sound effects and music are much louder than the dialogue of any show I am watching.
I have this TV:[url]
Here's a rough sketch as to what it looks like.
I think it is a problem with the Computer, but I'm not sure.

I've been watching some HD movies that I downloaded on my laptop, and I've been watching them on my HDTV that is connected to my laptop via a VGA cable. Everything is fine with connecting it, settings are all right, but when I watch HD movies, about every 10 minutes it freezes up (the movie, that is) and I have ti close my VLC player and restart it.
I do not have this problem when I watch regular format (not HD movies) on my TV when connected to my laptop, but only when watching HD movies. Does this have to do with the type of connection? Will if work if I buy an HDMI wire and connect that to my laptop instead of using VGA?

I have an old cathodic dinosaure on witch I play PS3 games and watch movies...
Not that I got my new SXPS 13, I am thinking about getting a screen for both devices.
They both have HDMI output... should I go with an HD tv or a Large LCD monitor 6
I don't want to pay more then 600$ and I would love to see my blu-ray in 1080p
For the Monitor I am thinking of something like this :
LG 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor 370$
W2453V-PF
HDMI, DVI-D (HDCP), VGA
300cd/m2
Contrast 50000:1 (DFC)
Resolution 1920 x 1080
Response Time 2m .....

I have been conecting my Studio 15 laptop to my 720p HDTV for months. Some days it works fine, most days it doesn't. When I hook up the hdmi, the screen will appear on the HDTV, several seconds go by, both screens go blank and then the picture is back on the laptop.
I have tried starting the computer with the HDMI already hooked up and the TV at the correct input. I havetried adjusting the resolution on the laptop to match the TV resolution.

I have a Dell Inspiron E1705 with the WUXGA screen. I also have this adapter.
has an HD Cable box, but no HDTV. Is it possible for me to hook up my laptop to her cable box using this adapter so I can watch programming in HD? Im sure I cant because the HD signal is different, correct? If I cant use this adapter, is there another adapter that will allow me to do this?

I had some movies on my XPS 1530, so I decided to connect it up to my parents Samsung 37 inch HDTV while I was home for Thanksgiving. This would be the first time I have every used the HDMI output jack on my 1530 and I have noticed some strange things. First, when I connected the HDMI cable my computer it detected the HDTV but every time I try to switch to it, either by FN+F8 or in the nvidia control panel, it reverted back to the notebook screen. The only way I could get it to work was by rebooting the machine with the HDMI cable plugged in. After it reboots, I can then change to the HDTV no problem.
So why would I need a reboot to get it to work?
Second, after I finally get connected the only resolution that seems to work is 1280x720(720P). If I try to go any higher the picture on the HDTV will flicker terribly. I have connected my 1530 to other displays using the VGA connector and have gotten higher resolutions before, so what's the deal with the HDMI connector?

I have a studio xps 16 with the Radeon 4670. When I connect my laptop to my 37 inch HDTV via HDMI, the image does not fill up the TV screen. Is there any way I can adjust the resolution?
Also I have downloaded a couple of 1080p movies, but again they do not fill up the TV's screen, and don't look as stunning.
I don't understand why it wouldn't fill up the TV since if you burn the movie onto a blu-ray disk or dvd, it would look stunning on the HDTV.

I can't seem to get the .TS files to play properly with the latest K-LITE codec pack and whichever player. Even VLC player does not display it correctly: video is either choppy/jerky or sound crackles/etc.
7900GS/2GB RAM/T7400 on Inspiron 9400. Never had a problem with any other video files, just high def.

I'm trying to connect my Pavilion dv6 to my HDTV using an HDMI cable. I'm getting video, but not audio from the TV speakers. The problem started after I upgraded from Vista to Windows 7. I had no problems with HDMI with windows Vista.
Â
I've tried updating/reinstalling the audio drivers from HP's website, but it doesn't work. I've also tried going to the control panel and changing the playback device, but the HDMI audio device icon no longer appears in the playback devices dialogue box. The only playback devices are Speakers and Dual Headphones, Independent Dual Headphones, and SPDIF (Digital Out Via HP Dock.)
Â
Why is the HDMI device not shown in the playback dialogue box?

I have tried two HDMI cables for 3 year old HP Pavilion g6 to connect with HDTV. Both cause the HP to overheat and shutdown. It worked a year ago but former cable broke. I have dusted by blower underneath. I was trying to watch free movie on HULU. Does not overheat when using otherwise.

So, I'm sitting here on my lappy, in front of my new 37" Sharp Aquos LCD HDTV....
And, now I've finally decided I'd like to try hooking up my 1530 to the TV.
So, has anyone done this with their 1530, and what have the results been? I'm sure this very simple!

My new Studio XPS 13 with integrated NVIDIA 9400M graphics came in. I tried to hook up the HDMI port to my HDTV, a Sony KDF-E50A10:
http://www.sonystyle.ca/commerce/ser...ductId=1001599
On my screen, all that displays is some random flickering colors. Ive tried changing the resolutions and various settings in the NVIDIA control panel, but still no luck.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what to try? I figure HDMI should be pretty much plug and play. The TV is 720p and Ive tried resolutions from 1280x720 to 800x600. I dont really have any experience with HDMI to be honest.
There are some custom settings in the NVIDIA control panel, but I am not too familiar with these settings:
