View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been watching some HD movies that I downloaded on my laptop, and I've been watching them on my HDTV that is connected to my laptop via a VGA cable. Everything is fine with connecting it, settings are all right, but when I watch HD movies, about every 10 minutes it freezes up (the movie, that is) and I have ti close my VLC player and restart it.
I do not have this problem when I watch regular format (not HD movies) on my TV when connected to my laptop, but only when watching HD movies. Does this have to do with the type of connection? Will if work if I buy an HDMI wire and connect that to my laptop instead of using VGA?
I didn't order mine from HP , but I'm thinking of install one. Is the internal tuner more convenient? I have read some promising review about aftermarket tuners.
Also the point where the tv logo is, is covered Is there a pin connection underneath or does tht have to be purchased? Can this be removed easily for connection to cable input? I'd like to be able to use this notebook as a DVR.
I'm trying to get my HP Tv tuner to work right with my dv7 laptop. Hopefully you guys can give me some insight.
First off, either Quickplay doesn't read the tuner at all, or I'm not setting it up right. In the Quickplay TV area, I get no option to view live tv (although I see the option on the left side) and it merely provides a promotional image to buy the tuner.
For Media Center, it works. However its unbelievably complicated to go through channels.
First of all, EVERY SINGLE *point* digital channel (like 4.2, 7.3, 18.2, etc) doesn't come in automatically aside from the .1's. That means I have to manually add every single other channel. Is that normal? Second, all those digital channels are high definition yet they show up in 4:3. Why is that? Third, though this one isn't a big deal, all the channels are listed in the thousands, making it very confusing.
i have the DV6-2044CA and i was wondering how could i find out if i have a TV tuner or not, other than searching up specs online

It is for the internal tuner on my HP dv8t. HP customer support can't help me and the tuner manufactuer, AverMedia can't help me either.

I've had my dv5t with digital tuner since August and my LCD tv forever and today is the first day I realized I get qam channels off my basic cable. I've got them programmed into my tv and get the locals and many crazy channels. I didn't have my dv5t with me since my power adapter is at my parents house and just wondered if the tuner supported qam channels. Also if it does support them, how does Vista Media Center work with them.

View 5 Replies View Relatedwhat kind of TV tuner you need to get to play Xbox 360 on my HP HDX16?
I've heard that you can either get one that will cause a lag and that will give you HD or one that will take away the lag but doesn't have HD.
I was wondering if there is a program that you can install that will take away the lag so i can get the HD one?
About a week ago I got my dv5t with the hybrid tv tuner option. Its been one problem after another. HP had me do a system recovery today (ugh) because the quick play tv software was not responding. This was after trying other things such as updating drivers and flashing the bios. I spent three hours on the phone with them today alone, and three more on three other days.
Now I am trying to set up the TV in Media Center, and during the set up TV process wizard, it says that my IR control cable is not detected. So it will not let me proceed. This IR cable and hardware is used (i think) to control the changing of the set top box channels. I am also reading about some sensor or other. I have searched around this forum and elsewhere, but I don't understand what I'm reading. I want to find out if I should have received this IR cable or whatever as part of the package from HP. I got a remote control, but that is it. When I initially questioned HP about the tuner card, they assured me I could watch AND record television if I had satellite and purchased this tuner card, but I can't set up record because I can't get past this step in Media Center wizard. No one at HP seems to know a blessed thing about this, and are obviously as clueless as I am. They are telling me I can't record, and don't know what an IR cable even is.
It has the ability to plug in RCA cables but when I tried to play Wii on my laptop today there was a slight delay that would make it impossible to play.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently performed a clean install of Vista, all the appropriate drivers have been installed (Nothing is unaccounted for in Device Manager).
HP Quickplay and Windows Media Center both recognize the TV Tuner itself, and there is static snow whenever I select the TV viewing function.
Before the clean install, the TV function worked fine. I could pick up a few channels using the included antenna, and the cable TV adapter worked as well. Now, after the clean install, I pick up no channels. I was hoping it was just poor reception, but it no longer detects cable channels through the adapter as well.
i just built an hd antenna and i was scanning for new channels and it was picking up some awesome channels and then i tripped over the cord and busted that little adapter that converts a normal coax cable to the mini one that plugs into the tv tuner.
anyone know the part number? I've looked everywhere online and can only find the partnumber for the antenna, not the adapter by itself. is this mini plug a standard? i even chatted with hp parts department and they were of no help.
I didn't have an option of choosing a tv tunner with my Dv7T when I ordered it. I saw some pictures of a built in remote controller. Do they all have this?
I do not have HDTV right now, but I do have cable. If it comes with a tv tuner is there a way to hook it up so I can watch tv in a window on my computer?
So I got my DV5t in January. I sent it in to Zagg immediately after receipt to have an InvisibleShield put on it. As soon as I started using the notebook I was having trouble with the integrated TV tuner I/O port not making a proper connection (I would have to prop the cable up with something.) After about a week and a half the port completely failed.
So, I call tech support and spend 2 hours on the phone with some person in India while they try to understand what I'm trying to tell them. They took control of my computer a couple of times to remove/reinstall the drivers. After which she opened up WMC and went to "Internet TV" and tried to tell me that the tuner was working properly. So after we got that SNAFU worked out and the problem clearly explained (1.5 hours into the call) she tried to get me to approve the sending of a replacement antenna saying that it was the problem. I explained to her that I had tested both the antenna and the CATV connector and they were both doing exactly the same thing. Eventually I get a repair ticket and send the notebook in to get repaired. Well they replaced my wireless card instead of my TV tuner and sent it back to me. The repair note said that the wireless card had been flagged on a diagnostic. I don't know if the person at the TN repair center couldn't read or what because my customer repair request form (the one I fill out) stated that my problem was with the TV tuner. So I call tech support again and after an hour I get another repair ticket and send it in. Now they are trying to charge me $296 to repair the TV tuner claiming it was "customer induced damage." That's more than a third of the price of what I paid for the computer.
The reason I say don't get the integrated TV tuner is because if HP is going to view any problems with the the tuner port as "customer induced damage" then they are going to try to get you to foot the bill. In my opinion if you want a tuner just get an aftermarket (HP or other).
My step-mom is looking into these Dell Studio Hybrid models to replace her old desktop. Any feelings out there on these things?
I'm pretty much a laptop guy but she isn't really concerned with performance as much as how it looks. Basically just needs it for photoshop and to watch DVDs.
I'm currently running 190.40 drivers for my GeForce 9500M on my SXPS13. Before updating to 190.40, clicking the little green NVIDIA tray icon that shows what mode you're running in allowed me to choose my mode manually through the use of two radio buttons.
Currently, I can only switch between "Boost Performance" and "Save Power" by switching power profiles in Windows. Is there some way I can get back those radio buttons without having to go back to the older driver?
Has anyone got the hybrid to work on a clean installed W7?
I cannot switch from speed to stamina without rebooting.
it seems alot of people don't seem to understand the workings under SLI and have simply decided that the Hybrid SLI found in their laptop is pretty much useless.. While there is some truth to this it isn't completely true.
As those of you with SLI on your desktops will know, SLI is largely based on 2 things. Game support, and driver support.
By game support I mean some games will darn right refuse to work properly with SLI enabled. Some games may also work with SLI enabled, but show no clear benefits with SLI turned on. And linking in, nVidia have to make profiles for each game in their drivers. If you're up for tweaking it is possible to add your own profiles using nHancer, but then again, how many of you would be willing to do that?
So what I plan on doing, is benchmarking several games to give people an insight into the workings of SLI, what games support it, what games don't, what games need tweaking.. and hopefully based on this you can decide whether it's worth it or not for you in particular .....
Does anyone know whether a 1340 with a 210m GPU has the same hybrid SLI setup as the 9500 configuration, or is it a more conventional discrete GPU that's always active?

View 5 Replies View RelatedThe Nvidia hybrid SLI settings has disappeared from the vista power settings. I've tried and reinstall motherboard and graphics card drivers but it did not help. How do I get it again?
Are there other programs to switch on and off for hybrid sli?
I've had my laptop since June and have not been impressed with the graphics performance of the Hybrid SLI setup.
I installed nHancer for the first time and started tinkering around with stuff and noticed that some of the games I was disappointed in weren't utilizing both GPUs by enabling the SLI Load Balancing Graph (Vsync has to be disabled for this to work).
Upon further tinkering I noticed that for both GPUs to be used, the game profiles had to be modified with "Hybrid SLI mode" set to "1". Thought I'd share this information so everyone can try and get the most out of their computer.
