Sony :: Z Series Hybrid Graphics, Intel Glitch
Mar 17, 2010how to fix it? Basically when on Stamina Mode, sometimes the graphics will get minor graphical glitches. This doesn't happen immediatly, after like 1-2 hours of use.
The glitches are not usually that bad, can still work within it if wanted.
However in Speed Mode, it never glitches.

Jan 29, 2009Very nice machine in every other aspect, except for the noisy fan that I've learned from reading here and elsewhere that HP does not recognize as a problem.
So, I'm thinking of replacing it myself. Can I do that without voiding my warranty? What about having an authorized HP repair center do it for me, if I shell out for the fan myself?
what fan to use? And is there a service manual around?

Dec 13, 2009who have the HP 8530p with the WSXGA+ (1680x1050) screen I have a question for you! what's it like, more specifically what are the Blacks like, for my needs I need to view my PC with white text on black background. so I NEED the blacks to be good. the issue is there is no were in 300 miles that sells HP business comps so I can't actually see the screen.

Aug 26, 2009I've just bought 8530p with a T9400 and ATI mobility Radeon HD 3650.
What temperatures do you get?
My temperatures are:
idle:
Cores: 33-36c
GPU: 44-45c
load:
Cores: 64-66c
GPU:72-80.
Anyone care to comment upon the temperatures above? I think they are a 'tad' high under idling (where speedstep is kicked in).
Can anyone with a 8530p provide me with something to compare against?
I'm thinking that I might do a cleanout and replace the thermal paste to reduce the temperatures, anyone tried that on a 8530p with good results?

Jan 20, 2009I bought a 6930p earlier and it had the infamous CPU whine and the roaring DVD drive. It also came with Intel/Windows stickers that were stuck on slanted and dust all over the touchpad.
Now I returned it to get the 8530p, and the earlier problems with the build quality were all gone, including the CPU whine. But now I have a new problem, LCD with grainy images.
The LCD is made by AUO with a model tag of AUO197B. I couldn't find any information on this panel but the grainy filter over the LCD is really making me dizzy. Its basically on par with the Dell 2007WFP grainy filter. The AUO is a WSXGA+ which is a 15.4" 1680X1050 resolution. Has anyone else noticed the grain issue of the LCD? Even the 6930p's AUO LCD did not have such a problem.
On further note, PC wizard reports the LCD being manufactured in the 1st week of 2007! It seems like they pulled some of their 8510p LCDs to be used in the 8530p.

Mar 7, 2009After some problems with software, I did a clean install of Vista Ultimate 64bit. I copied the Swsetup folder and used those drivers, downloaded some newer ones and some applications from official HP site.
It works all great, except the two QuickLaunch buttons: for Qmenu and WLAN. Nothing happens if I pressed them. They don't even blink! But the others work just fine - even the Fn keys.
I've tried reinstalling the QLB application and drivers for a dozen times with no change.

Sep 21, 2009OS is Vista x86 32-bit.
We couldn't for the life of us get the Seagate HDD recognized when plugged inside the eSATA port. Worked fine via the alternative IEEE1394 connector, though. The "super-duper" trick recommended by the manufacturer, consisting of mere rescanning drives with the HDD manager in Computer Management did not effect in anything. Nor did installation of Intel's hard drive manager (which came with a driver update under the veil)
But the dealer whom he bought the HDD from insisted that the HDD worked fine via eSATA, so it doesn't appear to be a hardware problem, nor could a defective cable be the culprit, since he used the very same.

Mar 29, 2009After I got it back I reinstalled windows (Vista Ultimate 64bit) and after a week it crashed with the blue screen at boot (error 7E). I could not come into windows (not even in safe mode or system restore), so I brought it back to HP.
They did not find any hardware failures with the tests. They EVEN tried installing winXP on some other disk and while everything worked fine they made a conclusion that the laptop is ok. And I was just advised to reinstall OS.
Did that and after 2 days some new troubles appeared.
The "mouse" was clicking randomly (mostly with right button) and the current program (window) stopped being active.
I thought it was a virus (avira did not find anything), so I did another clean install (this time win7 32bit) - same thing. Went back to Vista 64 (with restore dvds made before the troubles began).
I tried disabling mouse, touch pad and touch styk - the mouse works normally when having touch styk disabled.
Now Vista is changing my Power Schemes sometimes (from HP Optimized to High performance and back for a few times).

I'm pretty much a laptop guy but she isn't really concerned with performance as much as how it looks. Basically just needs it for photoshop and to watch DVDs.

Sep 13, 2009I'm currently running 190.40 drivers for my GeForce 9500M on my SXPS13. Before updating to 190.40, clicking the little green NVIDIA tray icon that shows what mode you're running in allowed me to choose my mode manually through the use of two radio buttons.
Currently, I can only switch between "Boost Performance" and "Save Power" by switching power profiles in Windows. Is there some way I can get back those radio buttons without having to go back to the older driver?

May 10, 2009it seems alot of people don't seem to understand the workings under SLI and have simply decided that the Hybrid SLI found in their laptop is pretty much useless.. While there is some truth to this it isn't completely true.
As those of you with SLI on your desktops will know, SLI is largely based on 2 things. Game support, and driver support.
By game support I mean some games will darn right refuse to work properly with SLI enabled. Some games may also work with SLI enabled, but show no clear benefits with SLI turned on. And linking in, nVidia have to make profiles for each game in their drivers. If you're up for tweaking it is possible to add your own profiles using nHancer, but then again, how many of you would be willing to do that?
So what I plan on doing, is benchmarking several games to give people an insight into the workings of SLI, what games support it, what games don't, what games need tweaking.. and hopefully based on this you can decide whether it's worth it or not for you in particular .....

Sep 27, 2009I've had my laptop since June and have not been impressed with the graphics performance of the Hybrid SLI setup.
I installed nHancer for the first time and started tinkering around with stuff and noticed that some of the games I was disappointed in weren't utilizing both GPUs by enabling the SLI Load Balancing Graph (Vsync has to be disabled for this to work).
Upon further tinkering I noticed that for both GPUs to be used, the game profiles had to be modified with "Hybrid SLI mode" set to "1". Thought I'd share this information so everyone can try and get the most out of their computer.

I dont see any SSD drive in the eplorer nor in the Computer Management utility. I would like to understand what is stored on my SSD and how to best utilize this for best performance. I may want to run games/OS/applications from the SSD to get that quick read times.

Mar 11, 2009We are trying to set up the automatic load for our new X240 laptops. But when we do, the process sees the drive as a sepearate 16GB drive 0 and a 500GB drive 1. Windows 7 doesn't load well on a 16GB drive.

Our M93p desktops also have a hybrid drive, but all our tools and the os loading process just sees 1 500GB drive 0.

why that might be different? Is maybe the drive controller bad, since it's reporting 2 drive instead of one?
HP EliteBook 8530p Lockups :: Num And Caps Lock Led Blinking 5 Times Which Indicates General System Board Error
Aug 14, 2014I have several HP 8530p and I getting the num lock & cap lock leds blinking 5 times which indicates a general system board error. Bought new boards still getting the same issue. Note all the units will boot to windows fine, but there is a 10-15 sec delay in hard drive response when operating pc. The mouse is real time responsive but once you clink on a item the lag shows up. What to look for as the problem, CPU , Memory changed, Fans, Cooling system. Bios versions have been updated, I've torn the unit down, cleaned and added new thermal paste to CPU, GPU and added copper shims to promote better heat transfer. The system Diagnostics indicates hardware is ok.

I'm trying to play games like Age of Empires2, Unreal Tournament, Thief, and NES emulators...and the computer is running somewhat terribly. It stutters during game play...and when i look at walls in first person games...speeds up tremendously (almost like its turbo mode or something). Vsync is off, GPU set to performance.
I uninstalled Vista 64bit and put XP Pro (SP3) 32 bit on it. Nvidia drivers are up to date.

Apr 4, 2013I have an InspironR Special Edition 7520 and my AMD 7760 2GB will not activate or do any graphics processing. It is stuck on the Intel Graphics. I am running windows 8.
-My laptop is set on high performance and is plugged in.
-I ran NovaBench and it used the intel graphics card
-FurMark detected Intelgraphics as my main graphics card
-I ran a small game called "Slender: The Arrival" on the lowest settings it could barely handle it
-During the game and the graphics run I had Catalyst Control Center Up and it showed 0% usage of the graphics card, indicating it failed to switch
- All the drivers are up to date, per the windows solution and from downloading them from the AMD website.
I would like a solution to either, have the switch start working, or to change a setting so only the graphics card is constantly used. If this does not work I fear I'll have to return the laptop for faulty hardware.
